Is there a problem with my character’s level? I’m just lvl33… but the last time i tried the Gaunlet i was 29. Maybe it’s just impossible to do it on low levels like this? I know there is upscaling and all… but items and skills/traits are behind that of real 80 players.

Are you having issues with surviving Halmi’s attacks or with dealing enough damage to defeat him within the time limit?
I tried the fight with my lvl 14 mesmer with lvl 10 gear and I would have won if my damage output had been slightly higher, so the fight should be doable for a lvl 33 necro.

Try throwing lots of conditions at Halmi while kiting him around. When Halmi stops and starts charging up his Mighty Smash, evade/run behind him to avoid the attack or just interrupt the attack with stun/daze/fear. Rinse and repeat until he is dead.

The gauntlet isn’t for you.

Experience the rest of the game, get to 80, then try it next time the event rolls around.

You’re attempting to do the highest skill content the game offers without having gone over the basics.

I can only suggest playing the game more and learning more about your class. The reason level 80’s have a much easier time is as much because they have access to full trait, sigil, rune and gear options as much as the fact that they’ve probably learned a lot about how to play their class.

I’m willing to bet that someone who’s experienced with game and class mechanics enough could easily do gauntlet stuff with an uplevel, a good build, and some common sense.

For specifically Halmi:
He can only start his frontal swing attack if he’s in melee range to begin with – cripples and especially chills are your friend – both of which Necromancer has easy access to.
Halmi (and every other fighter) is a normal mob and as such, susceptible to hard CC. Fear, flesh golem interrupt when you have to. Some of the fights have special mechanics involving invulnerability phases of course, like Suriel and Liadri.

Just keep kiting hammer(running away from him) while you shoot him with your ranged attacks. Then when he puts his big hammer in the air he is getting ready to do his ranged attack so you want to dodge it. That’s all there is to it really, if you can survive his normal melee attacks then its easier to stay close to him so you can dodge through him to avoid his big hammer attack.

Okay, i guess i missed some details here: I’m not dumb not to understand the basics of the game or just this simple fight. I realized how Halmi handles the combat and he couldn’t kill me with his swing anytime. My problem was that i couldn’t deal enough damage and ran out of time. He basically had like 5% of his health every single time i tried to defeat him, then my time ran out.

But now i’m lvl39 already, so i will give it another try.

Don’t even need to dodge the attack. Just walk through him when you see him preparing it.

If you’re running out of time, then your DPS is way too low. Just fix that with better DPS gear.

You’re not strong enough for the Gauntlet. Level up 41 more times, then try again.

Go for Nourishment to try and up your damage. Grilled Portobello Mushroom might be an option or Mushroom Pizza. Pepper steak if you are rich. Also go for dagger because AFAIK it is best damage for the class.

Think lvl 29 can beat him,just get as much power you can find,and all gear must be green at least

Also if you are a necro make sure you are using a dps weapon in the mainhand. Axe or dagger?

Use food. Find a food close to your level that gives you extra power and whatnot. Also, use focusing crystals/maintenance oils/sharpening stones that are close to your level. Make sure your gear is all as close to your level as possible, and try to make sure it isn’t a Healing Power main stat (go for something with Power as a primary stat). Grab some minor sigils for your weapons to help boost your dps.

Since you’re a necro, if you have Signet of Spite, make sure you have it running. I’d also suggest Well of Suffering, if you have it unlocked. If you’re staying alive ok, you could try using Blood is Power; that 10 stacks of might can be useful. And I’d recommend having at least one weapon set having dagger in mainhand; focus or dagger would be ok choices for offhand (I generally prefer dagger over focus for Halmi because of the blind with dagger 4). Axe 2 is also pretty good damage.

Thanks for the answers. I tried again today (i’m like lvl48 or something now) and i beat both Halmi and the second enemy… but the second i barely beat. But since then i upgraded most of my clothes and weapons, so i should probably be able to kill the third one next

Congrats! Windcaller Kieldia is without a doubt the most annoying of the 1st tier combatants though, so good luck!

If you are not level 80, it’s extremely important you use gear appropriate for your level due to how scaling works. I’ve heard it is possible to defeat all the bosses with a non-80, but it can be harder and sometimes impossible if your gear is not up to snuff.

I apologize if the tone of my post may have seemed a bit condescending or such, but I really have to emphasize how important it really is to understand the very basics of the game.

There’s little going on in a 1v1 fight aside from your own class mechanics and the encounter mechanics. Don’t overcomplicate it. Use what works. That includes stats gained from upscaling, as much as using the right weapons/skills, upgrades and consumables.

I’ll just leave this video of a level 2 defeating Liadri here as a testament to understanding fundamental gameplay concepts.

Use Lich form for Kielda. It gives great DPS and stability, so the tornadoes won’t knock you down. (Honestly I just used Lich form for the entire gauntlet)

Okay, so i finally reached lvl80 (but not all my equipment is on max, i’m working on it). I’m struggling with the Kialdra achievement now. I need to kill her while i’m on fire, but i just can’t do it. Any tips for that fight?
I killed her originally with Lich Form, but with this gambit i lose hp too fast.

Also there is that boar or something in the tier 2 enemies, what should a necro do against that? I could barely scratch his hp.

For Kielda’s fire achievement, basically you need to have high dps so you can burn her down as soon as possible. Use weapon attacks and skills that help fill your Death Shroud bar, since you can use that as both a third weapon set and a second health pool. If going full-on DPS doesn’t do the trick, you could try traiting for Life Steal/Leech and buying Scavenger or Vampirism runes for your armor (the full set).

As for Masticus, you have to collect/touch the orbs on the ground. The more orbs you collect, the higher your outgoing damage. There’s an achievement for that fight that requires you to get 25 stacks from the orbs, anyway. So, just attack him while you kite around to pick up orbs. Having fears and condition removal are useful.

Well, i got the highest DPS with the Lich Form, because when i use my weapons skills she can just throw me around easily and i can’t do as much damage as with my elite. But the problem is that even in Lich Form i keep getting damaged and when i transform back to my normal form, i barely have hp left. But i think i’ll try going there with full lifeforce bar, turn into Lich and when it’s over just use my shroud until i can, then my normal weapon skills.

For Masticus: I picked up an orb like that but for some reason i thought it’s not a good thing for me, as i thought i read something about “decreased xy”. But i’ll try that again.

Well i got all the way to Liadri now, but i couldn’t kill her yet. I got all the other achievements except her’s and the gambit ones.

Seems like using Lichform is not a good idea against Liadri, because i need all the movement i can get.

Usinig lichform against her is a good idea… if you use it at the right moment.

Keep near the center of the arena, so you can go for one “area” to another as fast as you can. This way you will need only a couple of steps to go from an “area” to the next.

I’ve struggled multiple hours with Liadri now. I’m just about to give it up soon… I just can’t do it. I got her down to 15% of her HP two times and that was the closest i got. It’s just so annoying.

Don’t give up! Look back at your very first post in this thread about how you couldn’t even beat Halmi. And now you’re up to Liadri and are getting pretty close to killing her. You can do this.

If necessary, eat some food/nourishment and use any spare Damage/Armor/etc. Boosters you’ve got to give you a bit of extra edge to get you over the line.

I only have one armor, which is Berzerker Gear, with the superior pirate runes right now (the parrot one). I can’t afford too costy runes, so i thought i’d try this one for now.

I’m going axe/warhorn – staff, or axe/dagger – staff most of the time, picking the well that blinds (instakill on the blind clones, without damaging me), the signet that gives movement speed and the well that cures conditions and i also tried many varieties of utilities, but the signet of spite also seemed to work instead of the condition curing well.

As for ult, i’m trying Lich Form, which seems to work well once i get to that state, but i always just run out of enough energy to dodge and i die in the end.

I’m using the food that gives +30% to endurance regeneration and might on dodge, but even with that, it’s pretty hard and sooner or later i get hit by either the shadows (blind well is on cd) or the AoE :/

Don’t give up friend you’re almost there. There are many possible ways of dealing with liadri.

I beated her with a condi/hybrid necromancer (S/D and Staff).
Heal : consume condis
My utils were the locust signet (important so you can outrun the clones) the signet of spite and the well of power
elite : not important but plague can help by blinding the clones.

To spare your dodged you want to stay at the middle between the edge of the arena and its center, the closer you are from the center, the less distance you have to cover to escape shadowfall.

Scepter as a main is awesome because you have a reliable cripple with it. The staff brings additionnal cc for both the clones and liadri.

With direct damage spec, you are forced to face liadri to deal her damage (thus moving slower). Some people deal with this very well. I don’t so I had to improvise:
With condi, just apply a few bleeds and you have spare time to focus on evading the clones/rifts. RInce and repeat. If you complete P1 quickly enough, you should have time to complete P2 with bleeding.

Note: Dagger #4 sends the cripple and weakness back to her. Same for staff #4. With all this, you shouldn’t run out of dodges.

Also make sure that, if there is only a seconds or so until Shadowfall, dodge towards where ti will land. This gives you breathing room and you end up in a clear spot because it will strike elsewhere next time. Then dodge towards that one, and so on.

Are there any traits you guys recommend for this fight? I don’t have too many so far and i thought maybe they could help…
