hi,
since i missed some gaunlet achievements last time i thought i’d just do them this time.
while doing the sub7 achievement i noticed that the slimes which usually spawned around the player now spawn around sub7 which, at least for me, makes this achievement quite difficult to do. since they don’t spawn around me there’s no chance kiting along the sides to prevent them spawning in blobs which makes attacking sub7 without killing the slimes nearly impossible (2-3 always spawn within him) since they bodyblock every ranged damage. i tried a backstab thief because i thought that the most damaging single target attack might do the trick but since there are 15-20 of them after 2-4 seconds i just die due to a bazillion incoming attacks.
does anyone know a working strategy? i want to grab those achievement points as quickly as possible so i can play something else.

Use a single target weapon. Use pulls and pushes.

On my warrior I just started the fight with 100B. About 50% I swap to rifle and knock him back to avoid incidental cleave, even with rifle. Use Endure Pain + Frenzy and kill it. Total kill time is like 15-30 seconds.

obviously i did that. using aoe would be amazingly stupid. i pulled, i pushed and still after 2-3 attacks there are 2-3 slimes around him again. you can’t not attack until the single target skill recast is over (or you have gained some initiative) because you simply don’t have that time while 20 slimes are attacking you.

edit: i did exactly what you said about 20 times. every single time a slime spawned within or right next to sub7 in about 2 seconds after my first attack after i kicked him away from the herd so i would either have to stop attacking or kill it alongside him.

I can’t really offer anything more in-depth than that advice since it took me a grand total of one attempt to do. Mechanically there’s not much to describe. Position yourself or the boss in a way such as to not kill the adds. Killing him very quickly likely is the best solution.

You can cleave the adds. On my attempt, there were at least two adds under 10% health. They aren’t squishy, so you don’t need to constantly try to avoid hitting them.

You’re a thief, so instead of invulnerability you’ll need to use reflects and blinds. Try Thieve’s Guild + Hide in Shadows + Smokescreen + Haste with a 25/30/0/0/15 zerker or whatever backstab uses build.

well, until you edited your post if what a simple one-liner, so well, that comment was kinda justified.
like i said i can’t not kill the ads since they spawn next to him every 2 seconds and die with less than 4 hits.

edit: also did. sooner or later one of the npcs will kill a slime. reflect kills the slimes as well. smoke screen is great, however it doesn’t last long enough to kill sub7 with only backstab since you have to wait for initiative since you can’t autoattack because you’ll kill a slime.
however, no further advice is needed since i no longer have the patience to grind another batch of tickets.

I did 6/6/0/2/0 War, Berserker, nearly full Ascended, typical pure GS build, Defiant Stance/Endure Pain/Signet of Strength/Signet of Fury/Signet of Rage.
Been doing it with 100% success rate since it came back by doing Rush>Bladetrail>100b>Auto, and using Endure at 50% health, then after that runs out, Defiant at 25% health.

Successful all 5 times I’ve done it, several of which were with the no dodge+cripple gambits, and I’m fairly sure I could add in Fire/Frailty, since 2 of the runs I didn’t even activate Defiant/Endure.

As a thief, I beat him today on a P/P build and didnt kill any oozes other than Sub 7 himself, went 4/6/0/0/4 w/ scorp wire, smokescreen, assassin’s signet. I just ran circles around the edge spamming unload and at one point stood still, scorp wired, smokescreened, and finished him off. GL to you
