So there’s no event there that could contest the waypoint now so I guess they never removed the contestable flag for that waypoint. Would be nice if I could just go straight there without a stop off at some random waypoint in the city.

I concur; it gets contested if you’re not in the zone, which makes no sense since it can’t be contested?

If you happen to be in Labyrinthine Cliffs, the Balloon will bypass that inconvenience. =)
