Just wanted to say thanks for the additional month of the festivities, I’m loving the content and this should help me to net those last few skins I need. I thought I could only manage to fit in 2 more 1600 skins, but now I should be able to net everything I want.

There are quite a few items I want and I was worried I would run out of time but now I can chill and go about it in a casual fashion, doing whatever I fancy…which is soooo much more fun than rushing everything…

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, no need to rush on the festival (particularly since this weekend is going to be busy as it is). On the other hand, it’s another month before S2 kicks off…

I read it as ‘June’ the first couple of times too, which made me go huh? since 6/1 is a Sunday.

Still, I’m perfectly fine with another month before S2 kicks off. I’m crushed for time trying to finish my husband’s wvw tourney meta this week (1 reactor, 20 yaks to go….). Then I need to finally kill Liadre on my account. Then do the gauntlet on his account. Yup, I’m good with having plenty of time available….

Then of course, reading the article in the pc gamer which says this:

“Speculation aside, what we know for sure is that ArenaNet are planning a slightly different structure for this season. Rather than a content update every two weeks, the team want to alternate between story and features—resulting in more “quality of life” updates like last month’s April Feature Pack."

Made me scratch my head a bit too… Does that mean we won’t have new LS every 2 weeks? Or that we might have 4 weeks of LS, a feature update and pause, then another few weeks of LS? Or some type of ‘interlude’ in the middle of the season for another ‘feature patch’? Too many options to think about…

This is a BOON for casual players like myself that like to be able to get some of the achievements and the prizes/benefits from temporary content like this. I’m already bitter about being 300 Blade Shards Short of back piece because well…. Life happened at that point of Living story so having some time to try out all the content, not just whats going to get me my prizes FASTEST is a great idea.

Something I’ve been pondering: This might just be the case for Festival of the Four Winds, since it’s a gap that ANet needs to get S2 content ready. Or, it 1 month could be the standard length for all S2 content, which would seemingly be a lesson learned from S1 (in addition to permanent content that remains after the LS episodes, which has already been confirmed).

We’ll have to wait and see.

The Devs previously stated that in Living Story Season Two a smaller story would be told each month and wrap up in said month, rather than just one season-long arc. There were monthly releases in Season One, as well, though split into two release offerings.

No idea if we will get bi-weekly releases or quad-weekly, but a smaller story will be told and finished each ‘month’.

I hope they keep the two-week release cadence, much like it was before.

I’m also pleased that the Festival is staying till July 1st. More time for casual players to complete their achievements, more time for me to bash my head against Liadri for that blasted 8 orbs achievement, and more time to farm Quartz Crystals.

I hope this is a trend. I am not feeling pressured by this event. I like that feeling and I actually play more because it is relaxing instead of stressful like the ones I have to rush to complete.

Perhaps on something as arbitrary as time and as diverse an opinion people may have to it’s concept with regards to what is a long time and what is a short time?

Maybe as it applies to in-game content and what is a fair allotment of it with regards to the many, many different players and the time they can afford to devote to these pursuits of entertainment VS serious responsibilities and commitments within their personal lives?

Am I hot or cold?

As a casual player i am weary happy for this. Arena net has enough time to star season 2 and we have enough time to gather enough rewards and have fun. Thank you Anet

Errr… I think I’m the only one who said anything even vaguely negative about the festival lasting until the start of July, and that was basically to say there were pluses and minuses. Which there are.

On the whole, though, I think there are more pluses than minuses. If it means they have more time to polish, it’s better for everyone.

When I (mis)read the announcement, I had a mix of “yay! S2 is starting this weekend” and “well, dren, I had enough on my plate this weekend already without having to finish off the festival achievements in a hurry” (and, oh, a little bit of a “starting on a Sunday? That’s unusual…” which probably should have been a hint). Finding out that it was actually July was a mix of relief that I had no rush, and disappointment that S2 wasn’t starting this weekend…

…but that reaction was purely because of the context formed from the initial misreading. Without that, the response would simply have been “oh, excellent, no rush to finish the festival and ArenaNet is taking more time to polish S2”.

This is my absolute favourite event, I’m having so much fun with it, so many stupid deaths LOL! I’m delighted it’s staying so long, partly because I’ve got a lot of work on at the mo and it’s hard to find as much time to play as I would like; and partly because my brother’s been in hospital and just got out today, so I’m totally made up that we’ll have time to get cheevos together

I’m weary and happy too. Weary of not having anything new added for a month and happy because it will give me more time to do something else.

Thought it was June 1st and that Season 2 would be kicking off tomorrow – which was far more exciting…

Oh well, at least I can bash my head against Liadri for another month and fail to beat her. And my exam marks won’t suffer! Which is a positive

I totally read it as June, now I’m totally bummed out that there isn’t an update today with new stuff… With so little stuff to do in the festival I’ve went back to world boss runs already. Another whole month and I could farm enough tokens to get all the things on that merchant but I’m bored now. Not enough Crystals to find, oh well.

Agreed. The meta achievement takes very little time. 2 weeks is more than enough for a casual player to do it no problem. (And if you happen to not be able to play during a 2 week event, well, welcome to GW2)

I initially read the announcement as June 1 and I was crushed to find out there’s a whole month more before we see anything new… Granted, Crown Pavilion has been really beneficial to my quest of getting 500 weaponsmithing, so I’m going to continue taking advantage of it, but still. I was really excited Q.Q

On the other hand, they could probably pave the streets of Lion’s Arch with all the gold the Pavilion is going to raise before this is over. New LA better be thuggin.
