FotFW and why it makes me sad
I think it’s a nice thing for new players who didn’t have the chance to get them. And for people like me who missed things due to real life commitments/issues. I was elated to see the Gas Mask back because that was one of the only Living Story rewards I missed, and I deeply regretted it because it looks incredible on one of my characters.
I do understand how you feel, but I really think it’s a good thing. I guess I don’t really mind if I see someone else running around with the same back item as me. My sclerite karka shell is really special to me, but if it works for someone else too, I think that’s great. That’s just my opinion on the matter, though.

Worried that you not gonna be a special snowflake anymore?
Sorry, but I really dislike “the hurry hurry play play now or miss content forever” mentality. So I’m happy with this.
I will be happier if they decide give the players a chance to replay the LS story.
Eh, it’s a personal thing, but I’m okay with it. I picked up nearly all the Living Story rewards the first time through, but I did skip the Fused Gauntlets, so it will be nice to have a second chance to pick them up and round off the set.
There’s a balance to be had between keeping souvenirs exclusive and just letting people have the cool skins that they want. The game still gets its sense of history, and players get the rush of excitement from finally getting a chance at a rare skin they might have seen and read about, but couldn’t get.
As long as they don’t do it too frequently, I’m A-okay with it.
I have every LS exclusive item since launch and I’m perfectly fine with how they returned them to the game~ No need to hog everything for ourselves. ;x Would also be a waste of data imo to leave them out permanently. Probably the only thing GW1 did that I don’t mind being changed. I was so sad when I missed the Halloween Cat Ears forever. XD
I don’t mind at all. The way I see it, the early birds like me got to enjoy our items way before the rest of the players get it. It’s no different than early adopters buying the latest iPhone for a premium price, only for the model to get massive take up 6 months down the track when Apple lowers prices. I still had it and enjoyed for 6 months before anyone else did. That’s essentially what I paid extra for; I had my fun, so now everybody else can have their fun too.
I don’t think that this merchant devalues all the event-unique skins i have managed to amass since the beginning of the game. It may be that way, though, because i have always thought that the value of a skin lies in how good it looks, not how rare it is.

Whether this does you any good or not, you’ve actually been able to get old GW1 Halloween items since 2012, when they stopped introducing new hats. I can’t find the the old news post about it, but I think the idea was that, as the game gradually winds down, they could afford to let off of some of the exclusitivity-based prestige in favor of letting people get old hats they’d missed. (Especially considering they weren’t going to have the resources to keep making new ones.)
That’s for a game shifting into long-term, low-maintenance mode, but I’m glad to see that we’re not going to have to wait that long to get repeats of at least some event items.
This is one of the features I really like, actually. My enjoyment of something has nothing to do with exclusivity, because I like what I like for itself and not as some sort of imaginary status symbol. So I’m glad that people who missed one or more of the returning items (or accidentally destroyed them, like one of my guildies did with his gas mask) now have a shot at them again.
I also was very happy when I saw the items I missed due to RL return. I was getting on my guildies nerves with all the “I want Candy Corn in my home instance, I hope they bring it back one day”. Who would have thought this would happen so soon (or even ever).
I haven’t missed out on much in this game and am kind of a completionist, so it bothered me a lot I didn’t have that node. I don’t see how anyone could be negatively affected by me now having that Candy Corn node and couldn’t care less if anyone else has the opportunity to get one of the items I acquired during a LS arc.
I’m glad they brought the items back tied in to a festival where you still have to “work” towards the rewards. They could as well have sold them in the gem store, so I think the way they did it was a very good way.
I like it. I got the rewards during the various LS events, but I have friends who missed parts (from taking a break or RL) or entire sections. This lets them get some of those pieces they REALLY liked the look of (or the gathering nodes), and it doesn’t make my item devalued.
These weren’t items that took super hard effort to get for the most part, nor were expensive. Why not let people get a chance to grab the ones they missed?
