I don’t know how else to say this, but this seems to be the second time I’ve seen conversation that just felt unreal and just… not characteristic of the characters you might say. I played through the new story instance and Kiel’s voice actress makes Kiel sound like she’s reading from a script, no offense. Of course that’s the case with voice acting, but it was much too obvious to feel real. It almost felt like someone was impersonating Kiel.

The tone was drawn out, forced, and to be honest, it didn’t have that “get-to-the-point straight-and-serious” demeanor that Kiel usually has. The last time I noticed this was during the instance that came after the battle for lion’s arch, where everybody met in the dead end bar. Scarlet’s dialogue when she was being killed also just didn’t feel real.

I don’t know what it is, but the dialogue and voice acting never used to be like this. What happened? Is there going to be any effort to fix this? I’m not the only one who has probably noticed this, and in-fact I’ve seen others who have complained about it too in-game (although that is anecdotal, of course).

Comments on this issue, anybody?

There was a time when it didn’t feel forced. It only started feeling forced recently. Back during Dragon Bash, Queen’s Jubilee, the original Bazaar update, etc. the voice acting felt much more realistic. Or do you disagree? It only started feeling forced since the ending parts of the Battle for Lion’s Arch to me.

What it sounded like to me was Kiel gone all politician, forcing herself to be jocular and effusive like a PR flack. And thus sounding all sorts of insincere.

She is just showing her true colours – Evon should have been in her place and he would be working hard to get lions arch back on its feet.

Kiel is just slimy.

She was giving a prepared speech. It’s supposed to feel forced. I’m pretty sure it was deliberate.

perhaps I just have a low tolerance for silly concepts like “totally not the slightly hipper and younger and edgier destiny edge”

You try to be a pirate and hold a diplomatic meeting with a culture that can change your entire future.

Out of character you say? yes, it was supposed to be – see previous sentence about pirates and gratitude.
