Why do I have to get ticket to play in the Gauntlet? I don’t like the other content as much.

There is only so much Aspect Arena I can do and tbh, I win most of my games and I feel that there’s just no challenge to it.

Sanctum Sprint is boring as hell and is a crappy version of Mario Kart.

The Pavillion is a zerg fest where no one listens all go around in a big zerg ball and Spam 1

The Gauntlet is fun and challenging and you can even add you own challenge with the Gambits.

So can I ask why I have the play all the others, which are free-to-play 24/7 100% of the time. Yet I have to get tickets to play in the Gauntlet and I need 35 kittenty tokens to get 5 tickets which isn’t even enough to do a 5 gambit run. I have to get 70 to do it once and 105 to do it 3 times.

I want to try and get the achievement to kill a Teir 3 Boss with 5 Gambits and the long break between runs to do so because I have to get so many tickets to do it is not letting me improve as much as I would like.

I have to play it 2 / 3 times to see where I’m going wrong. Then change something. Try it again 2 / 3 times. Change it again etc etc and this is proving to costing a LOAD of tickets just because for whatever reason Anet decided to say “Screw the guys that ONLY want to play Gauntlet”.

I could live with it when I got the tokens for beating bosses. Cause I could just then spend a little gold and do what I like doing. But when you’ve beaten all the bosses you no longer get the bonus chests.

Just don’t understand why they’ve but a part of the LS behind a grind wall. Curious as to the decision of this :/

the tickets is what bugs me the most… but they were around last year too, so….:/

they should’ve made them tradeable :P

I think the philosophy behind this as a game designers is that the tickets will not only allow players to access the content but also pace players in their progression of the Gauntlet Arena. Meaning it’s more of a time sink. If people spam gauntlet all day, then there wouldn’t be just you up there. There will be tons of people waiting in queue. It’s not like the tickets are hard to obtain, but they are tedious. I have over a stack of tickets myself lol

Yeah I with I could sell mine on the TP. I’ve nearly got 200. I’ve played a little but it’s not really my thing. The other content is more my thing.

You can get tickets from the boxes you buy with crafting mats. Trade a few of those in and that should give you enough to last you for a while.

As a Thief doing GC farm, I require 300-480 tickets PER HOUR. Y, getting some will last me for like 4 runs

tickets really don’t make any more sense due to the way rewards are handled. And is an archaic hold over from the way it was run last time.

Last year, there was a monetary cost/gold sink to the tickets, but a profit from the bags. So with tickets it was a greater risk vs reward strategy for farming gold/rewards

This year with only 1 token and no gold coming out from the gauntlet chance bags, the system doesn’t make sense anymore.

But because of the mainly super casual player base, only a few people played gauntlet due the “skill wall” and anet were probably too lazy to change the whole system rather than just update a vendor and reward bag.

I had 431 tickets saved from last year and can’t imagine how annoying and stressful it would have been to try for my missing achievements without them. Down to ~200 now, and would really like a better way to get more. I did get one from the dolyak run once, a few from the boxes (cleaned all the useless gossamer out of my storage), and some from Boss Blitz before people gave up on it. They dropped like crazy last year though, from everything everywhere which is why I had so many.
