I am sure they did. Not sure why they thought so many people would do it all again this year. And when you die you get nothing. So those tickets are not even a chance at the recipe.

I’m of the opinion that we should be able to trade something like 100 Gauntlet Tickets for the recipe. It’s a RECIPE, and the resulting product is ACCOUNT BOUND. Having it be so rare is downright ridiculous.

Very pretty back, but not worth the infinite grind. This sort of grind might be acceptable for China… but the US? No.

For all those people who are putting up +1000G buy orders, you guys are going to be hit hard and waste money. All it takes is Anet to do a quick hotfix or even one patch to adjust the price. When Final Rest was fixed, the first sell listings were in the 3-4 figures and dropped in less than a day to 2 figures.

The same will happen to this recipe when Anet fixes it, which I’m confident will happen.

Unless you play 24/7 and can immediately remove your listing once the patch notes hit, I suggest to use that 1000g elsewhere.

Anet will never let an item this exclusive rise to outrageous prices unless they gave everyone a fair chance at acquiring them. Right now the chance is no where near fair, so they will adjust that.

If your looking for a good example, I think you can remember the Molten Backpack, which did not have a high drop rate (higher than this by quite a large margin though), but it was far less accessible as it required a full dungeon run plus having a group of 5 etc.

That was an exclusive item that some people (solo people for instance) had no shot at. Even an abysmal drop rate from the guantlet is more accessible to those people than the jetpack was. And then it was gone a few weeks later never to return (yet).

This back item looks pretty awesome, I wouldn’t be suprised at all if they didn’t change anything around the drop rate, and were satisfied with only a handful coming out. (sub 100) over the course of the event.

Actually Jetpack was better because doing the dungeon net you other rewards that made it worth your time. QG you can do like hundreds upon hundreds of fights and you end up with garbage. Like not even half decent stuff that you got in the molten facility. Sure it wasn’t the best farm at the time but at least you get something for your effort. QG is like pretty much getting no drops so like everything you do is just a complete waste of time and if you get lucky then yay 1000+g otherwise you are just losing money every time you are doing QG. For the molten facility sure it is no 10g/hr farm. However, at least by completing it you get some items that you can sell for money or save and on top of that you get a roll at the rare items (jetpack and the mini).

The QG recipe is like the worst drop in the game. By comparison fused weapons were 100x easier to obtain than the recipe: chaos of lyssa and those fused weapons are items. And looking at that we all know what happened after that release, Anet moved to what we have today with black lion tickets. QG recipe is like 100 steps back in terms of rewards.

Exclusive item gated through time + RNG is simply bad. If it was gated through extremely hard permanent content then yeah sure I would not mind.

ANET, for your consideration, there have already been four different threads in three different subforums all saying the same thing my thread has been saying.

they should give an alternative way beside RNG. They have done it so many times in the past Living world update. Why should this time be any different?

I first looked at the back piece and thought that it was cool and maybe I would do some of the content required to get the back piece.
Now that I have read that it is under ridiculous amounts of RNG with 1 ever being on the trading post I have decided not to do the content.
Instead I will go out with friends, spend my money(aka gems) on fun outside and maybe even have a BBQ.

Thought I’d give my 2 cents on this, and RNG in general; Arena Net, you re-added all the previous living story rewards (Those people like me who have been playing your game since launch) have spent time getting. I understand that you do this for China’s launch, but for EU/NA this seems a bit like saying “Dont play LS2, in a year you can buy everything you missed again”

Anyway, that aside. The topic being RNG
We have a few things that are buyable for Festival Tokens that players like me can get, thats all nice and all (I myself Already made so many tokens tham im nearly done getting each of the Helmet skins)

But.. for some reason you add these chances that can drop Yetpack, Monocle, and even a new backpiece (Which by now has only been sold once), only through RNG

My sugestion? You add old LS reward, then add Yetpack and Monocle and the Recipe through the Token reward vendor aswell. In turn, you could make it be a kittenload of tokens to actually get one (I’m talking 10,000 to 100,0000 here, maybe evena milion) in turn you will give us reward for playing the content thats fun (Doing bots blitz, sanctum events, and Zephyr’s arena)

Just did another 400(overall total is ~1150)…still nothing.

I’m going to flip my kitten if ANet “patches” this and it’s still relatively rare, all the while losing out on those Gauntlet Chances I wasted while bugged.

Guys seriously stop farming this…it is bugged, or the first item of its kind in terms of rarity.

An Anet dev stated that they would look at the drop rate of the recipe but I really hope that if anyone sees this, that they really take it to heart that we feel this needs to change.

Backpieces that aren’t even at Legendary quality should not be this hard obtain, at least not with its current implementation. If the pavilion was permanent content I’m sure there would be less complaining, but I can’t help but feel pressed for time and pressured to farm knowing that the recipe has a timer on it.

Let’s hope there’s a patch fix for this tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Did another batch of 250 and nothing except a useless favor that you can’t use without other half… total of roughly 500 down the drain.

Whether the drop rate is bugged or not the implementation of this recipe as compared to the other two still doesn’t make sense to me – the others were obtainable through gifts that were widely available (and tradeable) meaning that people who wanted the recipes could throw 10g at buying up gifts off the TP, that others who had no use for them were selling.

Gauntlet chances have to be farmed yourself, they take much more time and gold to invest in and have a seemingly worse drop rate than the previous two. Fixing the drop rate half way through patch when people have thrown 60g at the recipe already isn’t enough.

I’m disappointed that the first back piece I actually like – since Mad Memories – has had such a terrible method of being introduced into the game. I’d say some kind of gauntlet chance refund should be given to players if they do indeed patch the drop rate – be it gold or something like 1 chance per 2 opened – though I seriously doubt this would happen.

Can anyone confirm getting a drop anytime recently? A guildie of mine got it to drop from his very first gauntlet chance (super lucky, I know). When he got it, he said it was bugged trying to list it on the tp. I also believe one other person in the map I was in got it and linked it in map chat. However, ever since he was able to list it, which was 2 hotfixes later, I believe, I haven’t seen a single reported case of it dropping. I have my suspicions that it’s bugged, but if someone can confirm a drop since the latest hotfix, then I guess it’s working as intended and just an extremely rare drop.

This is a mess, if some people did infact buy it for such stupid amounts, both sellers and buyers will react to it when this is fixed. As far as I know it didn’t drop for anyone the last 3-4 days luckily. Please anet fix this thing

It’s not much but if you see how many some have used this has to be some kind of bug I think.

The latest buy order is literally 2000g now. Absolutely ridiculous. A recipe that costs as much as a legendary is incredible to see in my time here on gw2, lol.

one thing i’m curious about, all the gauntlet chances stack. meaning you can fight a tier one with 4-5 gambits, and get the same reward as a tier 3 with the same amount of gambits for the same reward. That i don’t know if is intentional

If the drop chance was that high, we’d have hundreds of those already. I’d say it’s at least one, and even possibly two orders of magnitude lower.

Personally, I don’t think any back skin is amazing enough to justify such a price. And this is just for the recipe too. :/

That’s a visual bug on the trading post. If you click on it you will see that there are no items available, but the highest buy order is 1999g 99s 99c.

Even if it doesn’t get patched it will come back later on, I don’t see ANet working on items that a hundred players in the whole game will get.

It is basically an hour of game play with nothing to show for it! I have no idea what they were thinking on this. I opened maybe 200 and decided it was not worth my time in the gauntlet. Based on forum posts and my experience I just cannot find any reason to try for this recipe any longer.

Recipe: Chaos of Lyssa going for 2.5k gold on the TP.

I have collected another two stacks of chances with a few more tickets to go and I will hold out on opening them until ANet did something about that droprate…
