Ascended items always felt bulky and needlessly complex to me. I never understood why they were made unique with offensive and defensive slots, especially since there was a way to get any upgrade in any slot. Them being unique and named basically meant ArenaNet also made extra work for themselves because each item/upgrade combination had to be added manually instead of letting players build them.
So what was the point in making them even more complex? Why was an infinite slot added? I’ve had a hard time explaining ascended gear to my guildies…so now there’s more? I don’t mind the infinite AR (though infinite immediatly raises concers regarding fractal playability at extremely high levels) but I wonder why it was implemented in such a clunky way…
If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.
I agree that offensive/defensive infusion slot while having 2 unique ring for each stats is complex for almost nothing. This restrict player to get too much boost in a particular stats. Meaning that you can’t stack all Fine Precise Infusion to get like 7 × 5 = 35 Precision. This may not seem a lot, but if you add up the future Armor, then you could get a +65 precision (which still don’t seem like a lot since its gonna cost A LOT OF MONEY). So this is rather complex to achieve a really small goal.
Anyway, the new AR slot don’t really add any complexity. Now people have some difficulty to understand the change because we only read a few sentence from Anet. But you can fill the blank with answer for Anthony Ordon in this very forum or wait for the actual update to better understand what is going with the new slot.
