Dear Kiel voters: We tried to warn you
Uh, you didn’t warn me. That’s exactly what I presumed it would be from the start. Anyone who thought otherwise just wasn’t paying attention.
proud to be an Evon supporter… still, we have to play and see to judge if the fractal is fun or lame
I’m glad we chose this. This sounds so cool.
I don’t doubt the Fractal will be fun to play. I’m more concerned about the fact that we lost an epic chance to see the backstory of the fall of Abaddon. This is no comparison.
I didn’t vote for anyone. Fractals is a boring grind imho, and the entire vote practically revolved around those two fractal paths.
~Sincerely, Scissors
I don’t see what the problem is here.
We have always known exactly what the Abaddon fractal would be about, because it is already written in the lore. You can go read about it and know what is going to happen. It’s old news. We can’t change the past, we can just experience it.
No one had any facts about what the Thaumanova Reactor was going to be about, just speculation. No one knew what it would be until the content released and people played it (or watched the early livestream). It was unknown, and new. Something we haven’t seen before.
So what exactly are you “right” about? And what exactly is the problem here?
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Some of us don’t care.
Actually, as an predecessor to the Infinity Coil, I always thought Thaumanova was an Inquest Facility. I thought the jump puzzle where the crystals used in the reactor were harvested confirmed that.
Now Inquest blowing up Inquest stuff is certainly plausible, it’s not where I would have expected things to go…
And I’m all for using more of the turned-into-Charr technology seen at the Ascalon Shard in more scenarios .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Really the election came down to temporary decrease in WP costs vs. temporary decrease in BLK cost. It was over then. If it had been temporary decrease in WP costs vs. temporary decrease in armor repairs fees it might have been a bit different.
So people who voted for Kiel based on the Fractals offered got exactly what they expected and voted for.
What’s the problem with that?
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’m still disappointed Kiel won.

What’s the problem with that?
The fact that we all have to now suffer the permanent loss of the Abaddon Fractal.
8.6 million votes were cast. Kiel won \o/

Go read the lore on it. Yay, you now know what happens in the Abaddon Fractal. It’s old news, already written in stone. The Fractal won’t change that.
Sorry but I’d rather experience new stories and new lore, instead of reliving old lore that we already know what happened.

Yes, we did know, because if you talked to NPC’s outside and inside Thaumanova, they flat out told you it was Inquest.
If you thought it was a mystery, you didn’t explore enough.

What new stories? If you followed the in game lore of the Reactor, you’ll find that the Inquest were involved. This, too, is old news. That being said, Abaddon was a god. The Inquest are just evil asura. Abaddon > Inquest.

I never said we were trying to figure out who caused it, cause we already knew that. We are trying to solve the mystery behind it and find out what happened and what is causing it to react the way it is and do the things it is doing.

I’m charracist. I just can’t stand em. Kiel could have raised prices for WPs and I would have still voted for her.
So people who voted for Kiel based on the Fractals offered got exactly what they expected and voted for.
What’s the problem with that?
actually Kiel voters were claiming they expected it to do with Dragons, not Inquest.
BTW, I’m predicting the last boss of the Thaumanova Fractal will be Scarlet or Scarlet will be involved.
I hope I’m wrong but I just smell the stink of it, considering the other 2 fractals also have to do with Scarlet.
So the truth comes out. It was all about humans vs charr. We can’t live in the past with this type of mindset. Charr are people too, and deserve to be treated better.
Just remember, it was the humans that stole land from the charr. The Ascalonian King (a human) took the land illegally, and refused to give it back.

The other two are connected to Scarlet because they’re both temporary Living Story dungeons. People were asking for them to be made permanent, and suggesting Fractals as the way to do it, since they were first in-game (which was before we knew who Scarlet was).

Until they start taking baths to get rid of that smell, I’m afraid my opinion stands strong.
The part that I find rather hilarious is the automatic assumption that “Reactor Fractal looks boring!” means that “Abaddon Fractal is great!”
Sure you may feel disappointed in what the Reactor Fractal looks to be like. That’s fine. It doesn’t, however, mean that the Abaddon Fractal wouldn’t have been just as disappointing. In fact, given how hyped up some parties were/are about the Abaddon Fractal and some of the crazy ideas said people had about what it would contain, I’d actually say that the disappointment would have been even greater regardless of how well the Abaddon Fractal would have turned out.

You make the mistake in assuming that all humans bathe and smell good.

Some, not all. I for one expected them running tests that dealt with the Elder Dragons, but I don’t believe that’s the whole story. There’s more to it than that.
A quote from the lore section that shows why some people thought that.
After the explosion (or maybe during?) the Infinite Coil Reactor that houses the Crucible of Eternity was built – the Thaumanova Reactor base was the Crucible’s “precursor” facility. Just south of the ICR, you can find chaos magic effects again. Given this, and some things found at Thaumanova – the four elemental tied areas (fire, nature, ice, water) which happen to all be tied to an ED (Primordus, jungle dragon, Jormag, deep sea dragon), as well as the purple crystal inside a cave nearby (same model as branded crystal), hints at the Thaumanova Reactor also being used to study the Elder Dragon magic. What’s also interesting is that the Infinite Coil Reactor also blew up, perhaps for similar reasons.

Haha, touche!
Unfortunately I know that not all humans bathe and smell good.
Wait, are we still talking about guild wars =) =)

It would be disappointing. A simple Fractal would not do the Fall of Abaddon justice.
Gotta think how small Fractals are. Would you really want to experience the Fall of Abaddon in a short mini dungeon? It would be insulting to put such rich lore into a tiny 15-20 minute Fractal.
For those that wanted the Fall of Abaddon Fractal, be happy that they didn’t do this. You would be extremely disappointed.

I don’t play fractals, but i dumped my 500+ votes for Ellen, cause i wanted the cheaper waypoint costs instead of the discounted rng black lion keys. but hey guess what…that’s politics, and as a player I can vote for whoever i want. u mad bros?
Wu Táng Financial [Táng] – YB
I voted knowing full well that it would have Inquest. If I wanted to see Abbadon lore, I’d play GW1.
Lol, who ever voted kiels and think that they don’t care about fotm and they will never do it. suffer now!

I think most of our feelings stem from the fact that someone at anet had the smart idea of deciding to never ever do the fractal for the losing side. Its like, wtf why would you even decide on that when it would just benefit your game and players more to have the other one down the road too?

I sold all of my vote tickets after the event ended. I easily made more from that than the savings from WP costs. But hey I got both. I win.

Broke people voted for Ellen. Fact.
Broke people voted for Ellen. Fact.
People tend to vote for whoever gives them free handouts and such. Happens in real life too so that’s politics for you.
Broke people voted for Ellen. Fact.
You do realize that both parties gave you a discount on things right? If you voted for Evon, all the sudden that means you cannot afford Black Lion Keys and need them cheaper? If you voted for Kiel, all the sudden that means you cannot afford waypoints?
Face it. They both offered the same things, it was all a matter of what you wanted cheaper. Black Lion Keys, or Waypoints. And what Fractal you wanted to see. Abaddon or Reactor. Being broke had nothing to do with it, since both parties offered a discount on something.

Again, anyone with any critical thinking skill could tell you the story of Thaumanova reactor.
1. Inquest sabateurs
2. Some McGuffin plot device “Chaos Magic”
3. Reactor goes Chernobyl
4. Scarlet is revealed to be the mastermind
That’s really all there is to it.
GW2 NEEDS some more connections to GW1. The devs need to stop trying to make GW2 have absolutely nothing to do with its own lore history.
I actually don’t care so much about the new fractal when the lore behind the existing ones is still pretty unknown to us even though they have been in the game for months.

Yet that is all speculation, not facts. While the Fall of Abaddon is all facts, cause it is old lore that we already know about.
I get that you’re nostalgic and want GW2 to give you GW1 stuff. But you have to remember that GW2 is a new game set 250 years in the future of GW1 after the defeat of the Great Destroyer. This is a new time period. Why should we relive the past for no reason, instead of focusing on current issues now? GW2 needs to make it’s own lore now, instead of living in the past and dwelling on old lore.

To hell with that, Gwen lived tragically because of them and now they have to suffer!!
I bought that girl her cape, a flute and even gave her flowers (I know I’m a creepy dude), but still the Charrs must die because of that!!
