Fractals 40+ for is rich or lucky people.
1. legendarys are optional and not required
2. grind the mats took me 6 days to get 2x pistols and bought the ascended ingots / planks for very cheap in total when it came out cost me 90g for both weps.
3. I had the back item for a long time cost me 80g in total for the shiny 1.
4. most of the ppl at 40 + have been 48 + b4 the update came and had 55 ar because WE PUT THE EFFORT IN !
how do u get past 40 ? u grind 30 + till u got enough AR to go 40 +
sucks but if u didn’t bother with fractals b4 this patch your gonna have to do some hard work to get higher.
but hey 40 + is not intended for casual players anyway so either put the effort in or don’t bother
Fractal lvl 80 – 126 AR
How people are supposed to go beyond lv40 if they are not rich, not lucky, but they only have their effort at their side?
Use the effort to become rich, you may get lucky.
U dont need AR. If u can dodge = win in normal Fractals.
And when did u played last time gw? Thousends gold for legendary? hundreds for asc weapon? Lol.
Craft it yourself.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
The new fractals have agony checks in form of constant agony during the beginning of the bossfights. I did weaponsmithing 1-500 just yesterday. Ontop of having almost ALL materials I had to spend roughly 100g on Soft Wood Plank, Orichalcum Imbued Inscriptions and some other things. Imagine being completely new to the game. The grindfest (either farming gold in dungeons or getting materials by farming) that ensues is horrendous.
I dont? Mhm dont know how i finished as first person the new lvl 50 mhm or how i done ~1k Runs pre patch.
And if u are new in the game, you dont play 40+. 40+ isnt for any random noob.

You can survive level 40 and above with 45 agony resistance meaning you can avoid the ascended weapon grind all together if you want. Just avoid level 40’s instability. It will kill you. The one issue you’ll have is the final bosses pre-fight tick. If you’re not in a group of complete kittens they shouldn’t have a problem getting you up if you go down.

Most people who play in 40+ aren’t all that great. It’s a complete gamble on what kind of group you’ll get if you do it with randoms. Any way I’m not sure why you’re touting rushing to 50 “first” as this huge accomplishment. Bragging is a pretty poor trait. Especially on something as insignificant as that.
World 1st 50 is almost as good as world 1st AP. Just saying.
I just dont understand why ascended earrings are so hard to get. It makes no sense. Should be able to buy them with pristines, even if it costs like 30.

How are they hard to get?
The only problem is each one takes 2 weeks.
Guild missions are easy.
guild missions are the only way really, and thats extremely annoying. Granted, its viable, just extremely annoying
Fractal lvl 40’s instability plus the two new boss fractals really punishes insufficient AR.
You can get pretty high AR by just gathering Laurels or fractal relics. That will get you a long way AR-wise. The only thing that requires a bit of an investment, is upgrading those rings, and the backpack. But that shouldn’t take too long, especially if you often do fractal runs.

Nah, 45 AR is what you get from trinkets and you’ll melt @ lvl40. If you want to go higher, say 55AR. It’s cheaper to craft ascended weapon than 2 +10AR infusion.
Wasn’t FotM originally added to the game to fulfill the desires of some players to have to “work” to get better gear in the first place? It would seem counter-productive to change that aspect of it.
You can get away with 50ar at level 40. If you are currently at 40 then you already have a bunch of +1 infusions. It won’t take long to make your own to +10. I already have 36 of the infusions and I only casually play GW2. It isn’t expensive to make the infusions either. Your only buying the one item from the vendor at 15s. He gives you 10 and it only requires 1 of those during each craft of an infusion.

+10 takes 511* +1…….

Along with 7.6g of Thermocatalytic Reagent (and assuming 22s per +1 infusion on the tp, 112.64g worth of infusions).
To be fair, to get a +5 (if you didn’t have an infused ring before the patch) costs less than 4g. And most likely only the 22s for the reagents (you will get your 16, +1s quickly).
And to quote myself from another thread

That all being said, OP, people were able to get their AR and do 40+ before ascended weapons came out.
Infused ring x2 = +20
Infused Back item = +10
Earrings x2 = +10
Amulet = +5

45 AR
The main cost out of all of those is to infuse the back item, which I haven’t bothered doing yet myself.
As for ascended weapon crafting. Yes it is an expensive gold sink. The down side, as most gold sinks function, the very wealthy don’t really feel the pinch, others are able to manage, and the poor are just shafted. But the main cost comes from leveling up the profession. If you happen to have a stockpile of ectos (50-100) and t6 mats, you can craft yourself from 425-450 and then sit on that for a while. I think I spent a month just doing the daily refinement, because I wanted to milk it for as long as I could. Then you just need to discover another 8-12 items from ~475-500. Is it expensive, yes. But is it obtainable by the average player over the course of 2-3 months, yes. I’m not saying I agree with it, but I am saying that in the past 3 months or so since ascended weapons have been out, you have most likely had enough time to level your crafting profession.
If you have the time to grind out fractals you can take a couple of days and grind out world bosses for the rare items for ectos. And I’d assume, as long as you don’t have many alts to deck out in crafted gear you should have at least a small stockpile of t6 mats (you can always use laurels if you need too). As for the the t2-t5 mats, like many people I’ve been saving up since(/before) ascended weapons. The past 2-3 months have been a good time for me to finish leveling up some alts, and running through the zones to mine every wood/ore deposit I saw.
Also, here’s a tip. Do not hope for an ascended weapon drop, ever. I was somehow graced with a cleric box on day 1 of the ascended patch. Since then I have not seen another one drop (and I try to do most world bosses every day, and I also run around WvW if I have the time, and running from lvl 25 to lvl 40 in fractals). And I have maybe seen <6 people ping them in map chat. If you want an ascended weapon you WILL need to craft it, until anet decides for another sure fire way. Until then, do not rely on a rnd drop because you most likely won’t get it.
