Kiel voters - Happy?
Wouldn’t have mattered either way, the GW2 team just straight up cannot write, period.
I think everything is fine But I voted for Gnashblade. So I do hope they find a way for him to take the throne and undermine Kiel or something.
Yes I am extremely happy, thank you for asking!!

I never got why people thought there would be steam creatures. That hidden boss after FE doesn’t mean anything.
As far as the fractal, and my choice, yes I am very happy.
I voted for Evon and I am happy with this fractal. I even like Scarlet (seems like a crime on these forums lol).
There’s already a long thread on this, not to mention that one seems rather pointless.

Lol. Clearly you missed the whole point of the place if you think the hidden boss has no meaning.
Look closer and you’ll see the creatures phasing in and out of existence. They also get a dazed buff which has a description of “This creature has been displaced from it’s original location” (or something like that) when they appear. This means they come from a different reality or spot in the world. Also strange portals appearing in all the reactor’s rooms spewing black creatures. Finally, the secret boss event is called Defeat the Misplaced Steam Ogre, indicating that all these things are linked somehow.
There was no real chance for the Abaddon fractal, they wouldn’t be able to shoehorn Scarlet into it. It was a rigged poll.

Leave. Leave and never return. Scarlet is an abomi- you know what? If you don’t understand why Scarlet is the world’s worst villain… then I don’t think I can explain it to you. Just leave. (sarcasm and seriousness was intermixed in that post just an fyi)
The fact that they put scarlet into this makes me think again that the entire voting thing was a lie, and that no matter what the players actually voted anet already had kiel selected as the “winner”
Ye, i am pretty happy. i am interested in finding out what that anomaly was and what happened to the sample the inquest took before the explosion happened.
EDIT: i also enjoyed fighting the new member of the subject family subject 6. brought back memories of fighting subject alpha in CoE and subject 7 in QJ. the repulsor puzzle was also nice return to the old days of dungeon puzzles in rpg’s and the final boss fight was really fun. Plus the place looked stunning.

Scarlet is a Villain Sue. She has machines. She would have found some way to time travel and mess with Abaddon in some way.
At this point, I prefer if Mary Sue Trahearne comes in with his SaladBlog SueHorn and slays Scarlet.
We’ve gotten to the point where Scarlet is a saturday morning cartoon villain that interferes with everything. The Christmas episode will be on how she became Santa and ruined Christmas.
So you voted for Kiel huh? Hahaha enjoy your fractal
I am happy with the outcome. Better than them screwing up the Fall of Abaddon by adding in a “Scarlet did it!” to that as well.
At least Scarlet’s placement in Thaumanova Fractal makes some sense, even if it feels a bit shoehorned in. And it gives a good amount of lore – in both answers and questions – which the Fall of Abaddon likely wouldn’t have touched.
And admit it, the Fall of Abaddon fractal would never had amounted to your expectations of the actual happenings. A fractal for that would just not do the event any amount of proper justice. Especially a fractal created as part of the bi-weekly LS “bug-central” updates.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
tbh i don’t think it would matter who won the voting
anet would have screwed the fractals and LS in general either way

I feel sorry for anyone that actually thinks that the votes really have had an impact on what has come to fruition. If you really think that the Abaddon one would have been written that much better, well the I have some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona.
The fractal looked good, had fun bosses, and had interesting dialogue (referring to Dessa and the inquest). Even with Scarlet showing up (which does make sense with the current plot) and ruining it, I still feel it’s a lot more relevant and a much better decision then LulAbaddonNostolgiaFractal.
Ignoring Scarlet being shoehorned into everything, the Fractal is a lot of fun, so I’m happy.
All the Evon voters seem to keep forgetting that we didn’t know about Scarlet at the time of the vote, save for a name.
kiel woud won either way, remember the storys are done months before release, right now they probably already working on living story from march next year.
I debate with a guildy of my about during the voting we have no way to know who’s winning, and when we seen 2 weeks before vote ending, a release of a picture from Divinity’s reach was released…. both of us knew Kiel already won, we just did not know it yet. Save our votes made a good profit by NPC them all.

Oh no, they would have, and they would have completely ruined Abaddon. So I’m pretty thankful they let Scarlet ruin the Reactor instead.
….

Best thing I’ve read
I’m usually typing on my phone
Actually, very happy, yes. The ending in Dessa’s Lab was awesome. :O
Wouldn’t have mattered either way, the GW2 team just straight up cannot write, period.
I voted for Kiel because she wasn’t a charr, didn’t even read what she promised (We can speak about racism here, but I just despise charrs : ( ). I actually like the new fractals tough, so you can count me in the happy folks!
I voted for Kiel because of the WP cost reduction. I imagine 90% of people that voted for her had the same line of thinking.
All this “lol you voted for Kiel enjoy your crappy fractal” talk is just crap being spewn by more stupid people who don’t understand that either way they’d be getting a poorly done fractal.
(edited by PolishSausage.1279)
Nope. But part of me is glad the current crop of “storytellers” didn’t have a chance to ruin the fall of Abaddon.

I definitely like this new fractal, it’s a very good one, with interesting mechanics so yes, I’m really happy, thanks for asking

I thought that was obvious… after all how come the votes were always 52% Kiel and 48% Evon? During like 2 weeks?

That literally means nothing. If they were screwing with the numbers, wouldn’t they have made “more convincing looking results”? Not that such a thing even exists. This whole “hnnggg look at the vote tally, it was clearly rigged!” excuse is just a cough out by people who didn’t like the results. At least come up with a compelling reason if you think it was rigged.
The fact that there was a 52/48 split is completely insignificant.
I voted for and loved Gnashblade. I hated Ellen for all the typical reasons of her bland heroicness as most Keil anti-fans. I wanted an Abadon fractal.
But seriously, all these bitter, “you voted for Kiel and wound up with Scarlett; how does that taste?” threads have got to stop.
At the time of voting we didn’t even know who Scarlett was. There was no way to predict how disappointed we would be by her or her presence in everything we do. She showed her face at Queens Jubilee which was after and then after and after again till we were fed up. Kiel and Gnashblade voters didn’t know that she would factor into the results of their votes because she just wasn’t here yet.
Let up on Kiel voters. They made the wrong choice but they didn’t vote for this.
Wouldn’t have mattered either way, the GW2 team just straight up cannot write, period.

Same opinion…
My therapist says that I have blocked someone called Scarlet from my memory. She says I should be happy not having to deal with that “abomination” (her words not mine) in my life.
Yes I’m happy. You should be too, regardless of who won. You get some interesting and fun content. If you’re not having fun, then that’s your problem for holding such absurd expectations.
On a side note, these Evon fanboy threads are in no way productive. Please stop with these pathetic attempts to justify your sense of entitilement by ridiculing and segregating those who don’t share your opinion.
You guys lost. That’s the bottom line. Get the kitten over it already. We’re talking about a video game here. This isn’t a real life problem. It’s a fiction one. So this kind of behavior is irrational and therefor unwarranted.
Yea this post makes me smile.
To see people constantly blaming others.
Yes, EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM AND BUG THAT EXIST IN THE FRACTAL UPDATE IS ALL KEIL VOTER’S FAULT.
I’m just following the trend. Don’t hate me.

so much irony.
at any rate, people have as much right to express disappointment at satisfaction. so, in your words, " Get the kitten over it already"

I voted for Kiel. I still think the voting was rigged, because I saw a bunch more support for Gnashblade while the voting was going on. I knew that Gnashblade would have the most support from the playerbase because he’s a charr, and kind of an kitten, and that’s what gamers like.

I accept the possibility that it was rigged, I was just saying actually reasoning for it needs to be presented.
And there was a lot of vocal support for Gnashblade, that’s not necessarily representative of the actual support.
Some of us who voted for Kiel really wanted the Fall of Abaddon fractal (even if it probably wouldn’t have lived up to our expectations). But we weren’t shallow enough to vote solely based on the WP/BLK prices or the fractals, we instead voted based on the character of the individual.

There were a lot of those gnashblade symbols over the silent peoples’ shoulders, too. That and the vocal support are all we have to go by.
I voted Evon, but in the end i’m glad we got the reactor because it (most likely) removed an opportunity for the GW2 writers to screw over(even more) the awesome lore with the gods.
As for Kiel voters being happy, lol. In terms of mechanics, yeah it’s actually kinda fun. The puzzles are kinda neat, the boss fight isn’t fantastic but it’s fine, & the fractal is short. (except for the pointlessly drawn-out ooze fight)
As for lore, lol. yeah there is almost NOTHING at all here. it’s: Scarlet did it. There is no in-depth explanation of what they were doing at the reactor, who was in charge, watching any events that lead up to it, what specifically caused it to go critical, what it ACTUALLY did when it went critical, nothing. it’s a freaking black hole of answers. We learned the are ley-lines.. omg.. really? this is the “reveal” this is the “research”? the funny thing is we don’t even experience the meltdown. we just run around after the fact pressing buttons then die. heck, it doesn’t even LOOK like the reactor! & worst of all, by far.. they had to put Scarlet in it. Because she wasn’t annoying us enough just existing in the story.
I cant really believe anyone who says they are satisfied with the story of this fractal. The only thing we truly had zero info on was that there was an energy man & Scarlet did it. (although with how much the writers are hot & bothered over Scarlet is no surprise at all) Every other thing in the fractal was hinted at already & was about as much of a surprise as saying there is an underwater dragon.
It IS possible they are planning to show more & more detail on the reactor incident, but tbh, now that I know Scarlet is in it, I don’t care. Every time I give the story another tiny chance it’s like the writers go out of their way to make us hate the story.

yeah, I think that’s the issue most of the Evon voters are talking about. The only important impact is that we get a fractal. like.. lore wise. you really think they’re gonna do something significant with the candidates? com’on. we’ve seen their story MO: “We love Scarlet, shut up.”
Gameplay wise, I want whatever is more fun. But seeing massive dragon-sized gods obliterating the landscape in an epic battle with world-rending powers.. like.. how is that less interesting then being in a big square with lightning? i don’t get i.

I can assure you that if the player-base had voted for Gnashblade, right now we would be playing a fractal which revealed that Scarlet built a time machine and traveled back 1000 years to form a Secret Alliance with Abaddon.
I’ll repeat what I put on another thread:
Accusing Kiel supporters for something they did not know, were not aware of, had no power to make it happen or prevent from happening (other than not voting, but that ties to the previous points. Feel free to ignore the previous points to continue your diatribe) and was sprung as a surprise that many are as much against as Evon supporters are.
/golfclap
That said, the fractal.. was.. well, a fractal. People have expectations of a full dungeon with three paths and unearthed lore out of a 15 minute mini instance. I don’t understand it. Are you that new to GW2 and fractals? Were you/are you not aware that fractals are 15 minute mini-dungeons?
The Thaumanova fractal was just that. I liked the design. It had a very Fallout vibe though it did not convey urgency as well as it could. Fractal was okay, bosses were okay, even Scarlet was minimal. Dessa and Kiel were the actual cherry on the cake though, and as someone else said in another thread, it’s something when a 15 minute instance is glossed over a thirty second NPC conversation.
I admit I got hit in the feels when Dessa re-materializes with no memory of what had happened. A bit trite, but poignant. I looked at the sprawled krewe members in another light, like what they did no longer mattered or they were gripped by ennui.
Yes, I am happy, Id much rather Scarlet ruin the untold Theumanova lore than the well done and classic Abaddon… Also, Kiel did not design this fractal, GW2 did, and given their current work, I hardly think Fall of Abaddon would have been better.
There was no real chance for the Abaddon fractal, they wouldn’t be able to shoehorn Scarlet into it. It was a rigged poll.
Yes, the could have… and given their current direction, they would have. We can only be glad they didn’t. Our vote was a wise decision.

She didn’t ruin the Lore she was there at this time we knew this since August (read her shortstory)
The Lore behind Scarlet has much more to serve you just have to listen to the NPCs and do a little research.
Up to this point everything she did is in canon with the Lore there is no twisat neither she didn’t ruin anything, we just don’t know the bigger picture yet
“The Lore behind Scarlet has much more to serve you just have to listen to the NPCs and do a little research.”
You shouldn’t have to “research”, the game should present this lore to the players in someway. Going outside the game to read these stories is poor implementation. It’s a shame because those stories are better than most of the in game lore.
