For those who haven’t had the bad experience to learn, you can’t get away with 0 AR in the 11-20 range like you used to. Yes, Jade Maw is doable, but are you willing to risk the time it takes to do 3 fractals for a 1/3 chance at success in the boss phase?

The Molten bosses start the fight downing those with 0 AR, and don’t give others the chance to rez them. And even if they are rezzed, agony attacks happen throughout the fight, and come from all directions, so those without AR will go down.

I haven’t done Mai Trinn’s boss encounter, but I assume it will be similar.

I just wanted to warn people who assumed they could mix a group with experienced + newbies to do a 11-20 fotm run, like they used to. This, in hopes that they don’t waste a lot of time and make the newbies have an experience so bad that they don’t want to return. Just go <10.

did mai trin at lv10 with 0 agony resist without much problems. also did aesther and even with 0 agony resist it’s still much easier than the original dungeon.

Keep in mind players have had the time to get ascended items with laurels for months now. The slots they are using for useless bumps can now be switched to a simple 5AR from the vendor inside fractals. For 75 relics it wouldn’t take long to get what you need from lower levels before moving past level 11.

I did a run last night with someone with low AR in my group last night, and I was worried about getting mai trin/molten for that exact reason. It’s a really crappy mechanic, and it doesn’t add anything to either fight (or Jade Maw, for that matter)

hi, i am a ranger with full ptv at every gear, legendary and ascended trinket(trinkets are not full ptv, but have defensive setting), and 0 agony resistance.
maybe 11/26, i fought the final boss (one huge robot remains) in level 11 or 12.

in the very beginning of fight, i use nature spirit, protect me, signet of wild(in passive state), troll unguent immediately.

i always die maybe in 30 secs with no exception. maybe 5 to 6 experiments are tested.

so i’ll guess it’s really need ar now.

It’s fine if that’s what their plan was. I just would have liked warning.

It’ll be even harder to get a fractal group now though, as we’ll have to escort lowbies up many times before they can do 11+. It feels like a lot of sacrifice for the higher level players to play with lower levels. I feel encouraged to say “sucks to the lower levels” and lump in with the elitist crowd. And the lower levels will just not bother doing fractals if they have to bumble through it without someone experienced. :/

The problem is that you don’t have Healing Power (so no sustained regen). I have Cleric gear, and at lvl 12 fractal I have never been downed for lack of AR.

The warning was clear when they shot a live stream and told us agony was adjusted. As well as dropping all fractal players down to level 30 since the difficulty had changed with the addition of instabilities.

As far as stats go, you could be full berserker for all it matters. Agony damage goes through ALL defensive buffs/boons/etc. and does fixed % damage of max life (so vitality is worth nothing against it. it actually is bad since higher vitality increases the damage ticks making your heals less effective).

This has been pointed out multiple times. not sure where the confusion comes from.

You get hit by agony more often in new content so it feels harder. The actual ridiculous thing with agony is that lvl 40 (and apparently 50) are basically ar checks which require you to have at least nearly enough ar to only take 1%dmg/tick. Since they are first levels after the rise of agony dmg, as long as people do levels in order those levels make sure agony is nothing but a healing reductions in levels past 40. That’s how you promote skill and creative play over gear checks!

My guild have the same problem now. We used to bring people with low amount of AR on them in level 30+ once they learn how to do fractal and dodge pretty much all AR (except Jade). I even used to ask them to not put AR right away on their gear so they can fully learn how to dodge all agony possible so they don’t really on AR. We had a small group of people with 0 or 5 AR able to do the Dredge Miner or the Grawl Shaman without dying once. But now, we can’t bring them with us anymore. They gonna have to get their stuff from low level by their own and not by doing high level fractal with us. Its now really hard for High Level players to introduce new people to fractal and enlarge even more the separation between high and low fractal player.

55 ar is enough to take 1%/tick. If you are planning to do level 40 you need either that or close to that coupled with coordination to maintain more or less constant group heals.

At 40-49, with 55 AR its 6% HP lost per second, not 1%

I think the wave of agony might be a “wall” that you’re supposed to have prepared for. In other words, with all the guild commendations, laurels and weapons that are out, there are plenty of chances to get an ascended item, and working your way up to level 10 will get you a nice amount of relics for the infusions (as well as using the mystic toilet if you have the money/mats).

this is what i felt when facing huge robot(one remains, maybe level 12) because i think i fall becos of lacking of ar.

but before this living story, i can still play well in level 10~12.

Yeah, ofc. I was only trying to somehow help him with his problem of not having any AR. Cleric is the standard equipment I have on my ranger (I don’t need to upgrade it to berserker/anything-is-better-for-fractals + AR as I won’t go further than level 20). My experience at lvl 12 without AR is positive with Cleric gear (and the “appropriate” build).

I have a very simple rule when I run fractals regarding to AR.

Basically I start the groups so I am the “owner” of the fractal, in the description I put “please have appropriate AR”. I dont really care what number people say they have , it is irrelevant to me. My rule applies and goes as follows:

If 1-2 people down to agony their 1st time from full health, I give them a 2nd chance. If they down a 2nd time, I automatically boot them. No “ifs” “ands” or “buts”. That simple, you down the 2nd time while at or close to full health, you get the boot.

If 3-4 people down due to not having enough AR and I am the only person left standing, I say “sorry guys, but I’m looking for a more experienced party and I did ask for appropriate AR in the LFG description, good luck to you all”, and I leave. Again, that simple.

I just don’t feel like carrying anyone undeserving or wasting my precious gaming time on them at all. Period. Have appropriate AR or get the boot. The end.

i have 55 AR, did lv 40 yesterday, on first map i ran 35 AR for some reason, was getting desroyed by instability…. had to requip my gear to get 55 AR back
