Yo. I’ve been doing daily fractal runs (sometimes even two or three times per day) ever since the update, but I haven’t got Volcanic or Ascalon fractals, even though I think I completed about 50 fractals in this week.
I guess it’s all my bad luck that I did not get them, but I kinda miss those two, so does anyone know what are the best conditions for getting them? Higher or lower levels? Do you need to spend a ton of time in the first fractal or rush through it?

There is something quite weird with the ways fractals have been rolling since the update. The final 3 levels before 50, I had to replay Swamp, Ascalon, Volcano over and over again.

In the 20+ runs that I did over level 30, I have gotten Dredge and Aetherblades just once. It took about 15 runs to actually get Snow fractal too.

I’ve been doing 2 runs a day almost every day since the update. I haven’t gotten the underground fractal and the thaumanova at all so far, and the aquatic, volcanic, molten furnace and aquatic only once each. I get the urban battleground and cliffside on practically every run. Also a lot of swamp and uncategorized.

I have yet to see the molten fractal…

So it’s quite different for everyone. Just RNG

I would not really mind this kind of RNG probably, if visiting every fractal was not on the living story. And it does not seem right if after devoting so much time to fractals it is not possible to complete it.

If you want to do the Ascalon fractal, just go with it as first fractal instead of swamp. Can’t help much with the volcanic one though. But there is still a week left so hopefully you will get it.

There seems to be (this is my opinion only based off of what I have seen) an effort by the RNG system to get people the fractals they need for the achievements…so if you are grouped with people who don’t have certain fractals it puts more weight on those fractals when it rolls for the new one. This is pure speculation based off of talking to the groups I was doing fractals with and us saying which ones we need…and then coincidentaly getting the majority fractals (those that the majority needed).

I’ve gotten swamp as my first fractal and Mai Trin as the end boss every time since the update. It could just be coincidence, but it doesn’t feel right.

It’s all rng like others have said. Just feels different now that you are more likely to get x fractal as the first, second or third.

Seems it’s RNG. I still haven’t seen either of the Molten fractals at all. They’re the last two I need for the meta as well.

On the other hand, 5/6 Fractal runs have had Mai Trin as the boss. (The 6th time was the Maw.)

At least with the first round of Fractals, you can just keep re-rolling until you get the one you want. No such luck with the later fractals.

There seem to be 4 Groups of fractals right now, from what I’ve experienced. 4 starter fracs, 4 round 2 fracs, 4 round 3 fracs and 3 or 4 (not sure) Boss fracs.

You can try to force getting Ascalon by joining and leaving until you actually get that as your first one, and THEN use the LFG while you’re in or get your friends to join.

It doesn’t help with the volcano though, since that one, and the jade ocean thingy are the ones that I’m still missing. I don’t care about that anymore, but still, getting Mai Trin or the molten Thing there over and over again as a Boss is boring. Not to mention that you don’t have a Chance to get your chest if the molten coloss there kick’s you off the platform. You can’t revive, and if you do you’re automatically out… Well meh…

There’s no Point in visiting the fractals ever again for me… xD
I don’t see a challenge in randomness, not even if it raises in difficulty. yawns

The Fractal groups seem to be as follows:

Fractal 1: Swamp, Aquatic, Urban, Uncategorized (rarely)
Fractal 2: Urban, Uncategorized, Snowblind, Molten, Cliffside (rarely)
Fractal 3: Cliffside, Volcanic, Underground, Aetherblade, Thaumanova
Boss: Mai Trin, Molten Bosses, Jade

It’s not too hard to get Swamp or Aquatic as you can just keep re-rolling until you get them, but trying to get the other Fractals to spawn is really just a stab in the dark. >.<

i get dredge every run for past 4 weeks now, yesterday i finally got something else, thraumnova…. it was first time for me doing that map and i run fractals every day

No Snowblind or Aetherblade here yet.

Ton of Cliffside and Mai, seemingly every time out of the 20 trips or so since the update. Probably closer to 4 out of every 5 runs. MeeeH!

Did another run last night hoping to get the Molten Fractals.

Aquatic – Urban – Aetherblade – Jade

At least it wasn’t Mai again. :P

Swamp→ Molten→ Cliffside→ Molten bosses.

I hate you so much. :P

I did 4 fractals yesterday, every single time I started with uncategorized fractal, it was strangely weird…

Few days ago i had dredge + Aetheblade + Mai Trin three times in a row ….. RNG sure seems weird.

I think ANet needs to make the Molten facility spawn in the Fractal 1 group as well. This is getting ridiculous. :P

I’ve still not seen the Molten or Aetherblade fractals yet… and keep getting the kitten harpies EVERY time. Getting a wee bit frustrating. :P
