On LFG: LVL XX Final Boss, 20g -- REALLY!!
Why join the party if you knew they were selling? Obviously they wanted to make profit like selling arah. But you decide to come in and said they’re crazy. You should read posts before joining.
Its not Anets fault.
This happens in every MMO. Players grind through content as soon as possible so they can sell a spot for the end rewards. In WoW guilds did it in Zul’Aman to sell the mount at the end charging 5000g. During Burning Crusade that was a lot of cash.
Only problem with this situation is the rewards do not justify a 20g fee lol.
I am under the impression that
A) You simply did not read the post.
B) The part about them selling a spot was cutoff and you missed it and didn’t expect this in fractals.
C)They didn’t mention it and tried to pull a fast one on you.
My guess is B.

When the reward for the hardest pve content is 1.3 gold and a few blues/greens/rares i don’t see anything wrong with players trying to get some profit out of it themselves
Thank you all for proving my point….
2 weeks ago Fractals was “fractals” it was a challenge because it was a challenge…
Now it is converted into a market just like many other aspects of the game…
Take the fun out, put some points, a title, a leaderboard behind it, and now its “a market”
Can u please explain to me how exatcly are players selling fractals to other players taking the fun out of the game for you personally?
Make your own party, bam! Problem solved! Genius right?

This.
I can advertise my group on LFG, and it fills within less than a minute. No fuss, no muss.
My guess is that it’s because of the current rush since everyone was reset to 30.
Although I’m not offended if someone asks for money. If you don’t like it then don’t join.
If someone was selling a spot through the LFG tool, they can be reported for abusing it. The tool is not meant for spam or ads.
If someone was selling the spot through chat or something else, that’s ok.
Healix, have you tried reporting someone lately… 12 hrs after 10 confirmed reported bots for gold spamming in Lions Arch and they are still spamming….
Healix, why do you come with a single tweet when dozens of post/emails state the opposite? You’ll probably ask for a list, so I’ll point to your own posts, because you replied to nearly all of those with that single tweet even when proved wrong.
One guy from Arena Net staff not knowing about all that this is about and replying (rather quickly, so no real time to actually check) isn’t a real proof when we got dozens of posts stating the opposite.
So please, just stop quoting that tweet.
It seems you have the common problem of not reading the party info before joining.

I PUG every night and I can confirm people are unable or unwilling to read even 4 word lfg posts.
Probably the same folks QQing about this sort of thing on the forums…….
to OP: This is just another classic case of someone wanting something changed that doesn’t affect them in even the slightest way. Take some advice from police chief Wiggum: “Nothing to see hear folks, move a long.”
I think what every person seems to be missing in this thread (not that I expect anyone in the GW2 community to actually use common sense) is that OP is asking why such a thing is even being allowed in the first place. Yes, other MMORPGs have had these groups, usually called “mercenary” groups or some other variation of the name, but they were also looked down on by people that actually knew better because they try to scam other players into paying for something they can do with friends, guildies, or more honest strangers. The fact that people in this thread are actually saying that it’s okay kind of says a lot about how far the state of the game has degraded to.
To OP: Your best course of action to take is to report the party in question for abusing the LFG system. It’s meant to be used to make actual groups, not to be used as a monetary device.
^^ Polish, thank you for understanding the post…

Well, then do it with “friends and guildies”. If its so easy and doable, then go and do it.
Why do you join a group of strangers (who don’t own you anything) at last boss, who did all the work with 4 people and still don’t want to give anything for that. At least it’s time consuming and actually almost impossible for some pugs I’ve seen.
No one asks you to pay just to join a full fractal run. But for afk-leeching last boss – asking for payment is only honest.
There were people selling arah p4 runs, and anet came right out and said it was fine as long as no one was forcibly removed from the run to sell the spots, so I’m sure selling a spot for fractals is fine.

Notice I said selling spots was okay? Didn’t think so.
A lot of people seem to not be able to comprehend what the tweet said versus what has been said. Selling dungeon spots is perfectly fine. If people want to offer that service to other players, ArenaNet is not against it, unless of course their service involves griefing anyone. What the tweet specifically said was that using the LFG tool to advertise their service was considered reportable. She never said selling spots was reportable. People must only read the first few words then spaz out.
I have yet to see a counter to that tweet. It would be great if there was one, since it would state that abusing the LFG tool was considered ok, considering that she called it abuse.

I saw some spam a few days ago, but now it’s quiet. They have thousands of reports to go through. You can’t expect them to get everything done in a single day.
