I’m not sure if it’s just me but some of the stuff going on in that beautiful trailer didn’t seem to quite match what actually happens in the fractals at the present moment.
(Giant coming out of ground in Swamp fractal, Statues in Underwater fractal having glowing chests) So I am wondering if perhaps the video is subtly indicating that some of the original fractals have been reworked/adapted a little bit?
Really exciting if this is the case, otherwise perhaps next time videos should be a little bit more true to reality – though it was really very very very beautiful.

Most likely not, since it was said in another thread that this video was about 1 year old and supposed to be released back to introduce Fractals back at their original release.

Mistlock Instabilities will mean at least a slight rework of some kind

Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…

I believe that things like giant coming out in swamp fractal, statues etc. were just made to make more impact on viewer, like to say “Wow, dat Fractals maybe kool”. They’re just there to amaze people and keep show entertaining, not to present actual content. You know, that’s like the main idea of video – group up in 5 and experience various PvE scenarios.
If we’re about to see some improvements, I believe they’d be bug fixes, some scaling adjustments, maybe tougher encounters on high-level fractals rather than plain number scaling. One thing, definitly. They want to introduce more people to Fractals, make them easier for beginners, show them to new players, possibly lure players back with updates.

The video is a year old, they just never released it because it wasn’t ready when fractals initially launched.

Check the dev tracker for proof.

This. It’s just a fantastical, over the top artist portrayal of what you experience at various times in the fractals. To the new it is exciting and looks like one of the more interesting/exciting trailers we’ve seen in a while To the old it’s a nostalgic nod to the things they’ve done and even though they weren’t experienced in quite the same light it rings with a certain amount of familiarity and makes the things they’ve done in fractals seem epic.

As a long time fractal runner the trailer got me pumped and a little misty eyed. As a charr and seeing that charr run through the levels I saw myself and my victories and mishaps along with my friends and guildies. It was a good feeling and I felt proud to have done this before all the fractal hype set in. I feel connected to the content and accomplished in what I’ve done there and the vid helps confirm that.
