Group of randoms that we got together last night and today beat 50. Set Up: Shahotinaro – Warrior – 70// AR N O – Warrior – 70 AR// Siegbabe – Warrior – 64 AR// Kazesuna – Ranger – 70 AR// Elise Romana – Elementalist – 64 AR
We got Ascalon -> Uncategorized -> Dredge -> Maw.

Go figure a group full of mostly warriors… But don’t worry the devs insist that non-heavies bring a lot to the table too… as long as you don’t mind losing.

Congrats though on beating it!

The group was pretty well set up, but having 0 reflects was a pain.

Go figure someone who thinks 200 armor makes any difference.

Warriors help speed up runs by stacking and wrecking stuff. Without the reflects, i honestly think there wouldn’t have been a difference with 3 Warriors or 1 Warrior in the group.

To get to those 70 AR, you needed 3 +10 infusions, so 1536 +1 infusions. Given that we get at most 5 each run, and a run takes an hour for a decent group, you’d have needed 13 days to get those +1 infusions, even if playing 24h a day. Which means the only way you could have done this run, trying to get first place on leaderboard, is by buying the infusions from the Black Lion company. How much did it cost you, by the way ? At the moment those 3 infusions are at about 520 gold…

Not to trivialize what you did, but by putting such a gear-gating on the content, Anet has made their fractals leaderboard not about who’s the most skilled fractal player, but who’s the wealthiest one. Which proves those leaderboards are a joke.

No progession to 51. There is NO bonus reward (that gives a chance at weapon skins) at the end of the boss level. I think it is a bug that has to do with you not being able to increase your PRL to 51, it doesn’t trigger the reward. Doing a 48/49 is a lot better reward for your time spent.

But other then that, it was frustrating and fun to complete 50.

@ Estriella, you can use 3 +8 infusions to beat 50, as 64 is enough. I spent 500g on the 3 +10s infusions for myself. I would have loved having a different +1 system though. Something along the lines of the +1s being account bound, adding that extra slot in there but keeping the native +5 AR on the infused items so it would lessen the grind needing only 3 +5s that are account bound.

US first was like 24 hours after the Tuesday patch, since then there are a bunch of people who beat 50 already.

This was not getting to 50, it was actually beating 50, and to the best of my knowledge, has not been done on US.

As Barkas said, getting to and beating is a different thing. We beat it, they got to it.

Gratz from me too! I also think that having to spend 500 gold on AR to beat lvl 50 says a lot about those leaderboards. Is there anything special about the 50 instability or is it just the constant agony hitting?

Its just the constant agony, acts exactly the same way as 40 if you have 55 AR. So nothing hard about it cept spending gold =/. I hope we get a raise to 60 within a few months with some cool and CHALLENGING instabilities.

Then it doesn’t make sence. It basically says: spend 500 g if you want to progress or wait and gather infusions… Also, getting to level 49 is perfectly doable with only 50 AR. It seems like an completely unnecessary mechanic to suddenly require at least 15 more AR to be able to continue…

Getting to my current level 48 has given me enough infusions to be close to making a second +7 infusion. I plan to be 50 today then I intend to do some dungeons and buy infusions with the gold reward.

You can do 50 with 64AR, using 3 +8s, the 70AR comes from making the instability on 50 not mean a thing.

Yeah, I understand that, but as I have currently only 50 AR, I do have to add at least 14 more to get to 64

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of just throwing up an Agony Wall, but, gotta deal with what we have.

Is it completely undoable with 55 AR? A friend tried to join us for lvl 40 with just 30 AR and would down as soon as we revived her.

You won’t make it far with 55 AR. If I recall correctly, it took around 80-90% of my HP at 55 AR. And that will be hitting about every 10 seconds or so while in combat.

I see. A little off topic here. I am trying to increase my warrior’s AR. I just infused a regular crystaline band ring. Is it no longer possible to put two versatile infusions in it to get it to 10 AR? Or do I have to waste a +5 agony infusion for the second slot?

+5 in second slot, the new infusions take the place of the native AR that was on the infused items before.

World first happened a few days ago….sorry mate, too late! :P

Adding the crafted fractal infusions should not have happened until Ascended Armor was in the game. That way people can just buy +5s from the Fractal vendor and it makes the leaderboards worth something. I don’t like things getting half implemented in games. People willing to spend exorbitant amounts of gold being able to do something is a silly gate on content.

People aren’t hating on your ranger, they hate on rangers in general.

It stems from a long time of seeing just brutally awful ranger play in dungeon runs.

Yeah, just the same as necros get bashed on, most that I’ve come seen are sub par, but there are a few who are really good. @ Kaze, been fixed >.<

I wouldnt expect any more fractals levels for atleast 6months. I am sure ANET underestimated the buying power of the players when it came to getting AR.

I have to agree with what other’s are saying its not really that impressive when you get Jade Maw for your final fractal and bought your AR. Would have been much more impressed to have seen you guys get one of the tougher end fractals atleast.

the only time i feel wary about classes is when i see a group of all or almost all [x] professions and claiming zerker > all. lol until then, i think every1 gets a shot. i know some good engi’s and necro’s…

Did 50 again today, Warr/Ranger/Necro/Mes/Mes, so there did it without a Warrior heavy group like people were asking…
