What's the point of a Leaderboard..
A leaderboard for pve stuff… I don’t get it :p
we got our progressoin deleted but we get a leaderboard only accessible to parties of friends with TS…..(you can t really compete with pugs….you could do even lvl 80 but not frequently….).
-.-
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I would say that the point of the leaderboards is for anet to have a legitimate excuse for resetting personal reward level to 30.
i dont get it, too. so we start at lvl 30 and there are only 20 lvl to go. they might be pretty tough, but within the first week or two (if its really tough) all players in the leaderboards are lvl 50.
i agree with the op, there is no reason.

I could possibly understand it if there was anything “really” difficult or challenging in GW2 PVE. But, the bottom line is, even the “toughest” dungeon encounters are nothing more than stack and dodge at best.
On a related note, everyone is up in arms about the agony changes. But have we even stopped to think about how lazy the entire idea of agony is? This is supposed to be the top tier end game content for GW2. But instead of hardmode encounters with interesting mechanics, you get a ridiculous debuff that can only be countered passively with gear. Don’t get me wrong, Im all for gear requirements. I think they are interesting and add a bit of flavor to end game stuff. Heck i would like to see more of that sort of thing. On top of that, imho it would be cool if we had to go do activity A to acquire the gear to complete activity B. You know, spice it up a bit. But i digress. Im just saying there is huge vacuum in end game content when it comes to interesting and challenging encounters. Agony is not the answer, it’s part of the answer, but there needs to be more to it.

The ironic thing (ironic…sad…depressing, idk?) is that new content at 30 is much more of a justifiable reason than leaderboards. Nobody wants or asked for leaderboards. Stop trying to make everything an “esport” since pvp didn’t work out for ya.
It is supposed to make us angry.
I’m assuming the leaderboard isn’t just going to show fractal level? Surely they’re calculating some score that takes level into account but also times run at that level, completion and so on.
It’s a bit like challenge leaderboards in GW1.
In those, there were always the same guys in the top positions, until they got bored and stopped doing challenges, and another group replaced them.
The spot in the leaderboard was a reason to brag, as the rewards from challenges themselves were kind of lacking pointless.
But not many people looked at the leaderboards anyways, so it was more for themselves and their friends than for the rest of the players.
