This is something I’ve always wondered regarding Exotic drops in Fractals, why are they account bound and not sellable like regular items? Was this limit put back then because higher Fractal loot quality were more common as a quality loot compared to other means?

But the most important question is, will this change with the Fractured update and will the exotic drops finally be set free?

I would assume it has something to do with Fractal skins.

So because the fractal skins are of exotic quality, all the exotics were set to accountbound? If this is true, this sounds like very lazy programming.

Not sure there is a “good” reason for it. Not all exotics are account bound. The Named variety ex. Koss armor, or whatever, can be sold in the trading post. This only adds to the confusion of why aren’t all exotics items sell-able on the trading post?

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced “normal” exotics not being sellable on the tp other than the ones from the fractals.
By normal I mean Exotics that don’t really have any unique features compared to other exotics, like fractal skin exotics would be considered ‘unique’ Imo.

Because someone on the design team thought we care about those stats, and that we would run FoTM more often to earn them.

Probably as an alternative to Temple armor stats and dungeons. Still quite silly though.

Yeah, I’ve always been confused by this.

Exotics from chests = account bound
Exotics from mob/boss drops = Not bound.

Anet stickin it to those hardcore players.

I agree it’s weird, but I just salvage those Exotics for Ectos/Dark Matter these days anyway.

the account bound exotic armor has same skin as the orr karma vendor exotics.

the weps more generic. I just salvage them as the weps have high chance for the inscriptions which sell for more then standard exotics anyway.

as for the armor they give ectos and globs of dark matter which is niccer then gold esp with ascended armor around the corner

These Skin, like the ones from Dungeon Tokens are accountbound, so they can only be obtained via playing the content, where they drop/are sold. If they had only added skins that drop in other parts of the game (skins that you can usually sell), they would not be account bound. It has nothing to do with the stats.
