One of the questions we get asked the most often is, “Are you recruiting?”
The answer to this question changes from ‘yes’ to ‘no’ to ‘maybe’ on a semi-regular basis. Primarily, this is because we seek to maintain a manageable membership of ‘around 100’ members and, having launched with 94 members, we were basically full from the start and not open to recruits.
That said, if we look appealing to you, or you’ve seen us operating in-game, these are the top three attributes we look for in potential members. Are you these things?
— You’re 21+ years of age. (Although you might be a lot older and that would be fine; we have numerous ‘older gamers’ in the guild.)
— You’re the kind of person that other people really like being around, ie: you’re pleasant, mature, considerate, friendly, smart and can hold a great conversation without dropping the f-bomb even once.
— You have a desire to drop past your guild forum on a regular basis and not only ‘talk shop’ (such as organising a dungeon crawl), but start actual conversations about other topics and generally mix with your guildmates in a forum environment. Lurkers need not apply!
Why do we look for these attributes? Because they describe us. This is the kind of people we are and, if recruiting, we want more people like us.

I can honestly say that this guild has a wonderful thing going. Never before have I played with such a mature, respectful and fun group of people. I couldn’t have asked for a better guild to explore Tyria with!
Some additional information:
— There’s no pressure: You can play ask you like and at your own pace. You don’t like PvP? No problem! You don’t like dungeons? No problem! We have a great mix of people who enjoy all aspects of the game so there’s always someone who will share an interest.

I joined the Irregulars in June and I’ll tell anyone that will listen, it’s the best guild I could have found to share the new journey through Tyria with. We have an eclectic group of adults but we all come together as one in our love of GW2 and fun. Everything else we find that we share is frosting on the cake.
We have a very active forum with 50k+ posts and 1525 topics. PvX is well represented within our ranks. Trust me, if you are looking for that special guild to join for long term play with GW2, check us out! You won’t be disappointed.
And that’s the kind of people we attract. Read up on us… you might be surprised

More like a family than a guild
I’d do anything for them, and know that they’d always be there for me if needed. Truly the greatest group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing a game with.
So pleased to hear that, Koozy!

I have been thoroughly enjoying my time gaming with this group of people, this family. If you are looking for a mature guild, that is forum centric and enjoys all aspects of the game, come check us out!

I really enjoy being a part of the Lions Arch Irregulars. There are many aspects of Guild Wars 2 that are fun and I can always find a [LION] or 2, or 3, who shares a similar enthusiasm. Even though I spend a good chunk of time playing solo, because it’s in my nature to do so, I truly appreciate being a part of this wonderfully diverse and multi-faceted group. I highly recommend the guild to anyone who has read the charter and is looking to play and socialize with lots of decent folks who have a fantastic variety of personalities and backgrounds.

We have two new applicants going through our get to know you process! We are always happy to have a Q&A session with new folks. We have a lot of fun and everyone, even the applicants, enjoy themselves.
If you are looking for a mature, dedicated, fun-loving guild and want to check us out and hopefully apply I encourage you to do so. It’s a decision you won’t regret.

I love the Q&A process when we have new applicants and it seems like most of them enjoy it as well. I’ve been a member of the Irregulars since May and couldn’t think of a better group of people to explore Tyria with.

Thanks for noticing that. It’s something we pride ourselves on (pride… Lion… geddit?), and if anyone has questions on it, please ask here, or send me a PM

I’ve been a member of the Lion’s Arch Irregulars since just after BWE2. This guild is just as much a family as a guild. Mature, friendly, helpful, playful, we’ve got it all. I’ve been playing in MMO’s and been a member of guilds for the last 7 years, and this is the guild I’ve always been looking for.

This is the second guild led by blur that I’ve had the privilege to be in, and I’ll tell you — there’s nothing else like it. Other guilds I’ve been a part of suffer by comparison. Members of the Irregulars are motivated, friendly, and helpful, both in-game and on the forum, and blur’s leadership and vision for the guild keeps the ship running on an even keel.
If you’ve ever lamented a guild forum where no one hangs out and posts go unanswered for days, we’ve got the cure for that! If you’re looking for a friendly atmosphere where everyone’s encouraged to play in their own time and in their own way, we’ve got that too. If your curiosity is piqued, stop on by our site and see what’s going on!

Many guilds will pay lip-service to being “mature, friendly, adults”. At [LION], we truly are. A guild that has the same philosophy as ArenaNet with regards to community behavior and attitude. [LION] is not for everyone, to be sure, but if you think you would make a good fit, recruiting is currently open.
A warm welcome to our new members, Cilohtac, XChicken, FireDrake, Setsunia and Jooniee…! We are still recruiting, if anyone wishes to come past and take a look

Welcome to our newest bunch I’m really happy about these new applicants, they seem like a great group.
It gives me a lot of ‘pride’ to see our ‘pride’ growing.

I agree completely! We’ve had a great group of people come through and I’ve already seen a couple of them in-game! I know at least one was introduced to some jumping puzzles, too. I very much look forward to even more!

I have been in two guilds now that have been run by blur. They have both been fantastic environments in which to meet new, interesting and wonderful people, while also sharing a favourite hobby. The forums are extremely active and there is a real sense of community and friendship there. I’ve also had loads of fun with everyone in game as well.
I’m honoured you would say that, Alopeix; thank you.
And, just as a general message to all reading this, we have the intent to close “around 100” members — and we’re currently heading towards 94 (if all our current applications pass), so we won’t be doing this for much longer.

i would like to formally opologize for using a swear word in my app, i was so excited and overwhelmed with multiple replies trying to get them all answered that the word slipped out, although it was only a simple commonly used and in most games not even considered a swear word, this is no excuse and i totally understand your final statement, and believe you may be right. that your guild isnt a good fit for me afterall. i would like to say thanks to those who asked about me, and wish you all nothing but the best in your future. be safe out there!
Thanks Ganette. Appreciated.
To everyone else, we’re temporarily slowing recruiting again as we take on a bunch of exciting (and excited) new recruits. Getting people integrated into our guild family is more important to us than ongoing recruiting.
That said, if anyone wants to drop us a line (contact details on our forum), please do. Anyone we know in game, or someone who wants to make an exceptional application to join us is welcome to try. We look forward to hearing from you.
We’ve re-opened recruiting.

Have looked at your site a few times, and every time I check it there’s like 1 maybe two people on your ventrilo server. What time zones do you find your peak’s to be during?
Ventrilo isn’t a good representation of what’s going on in the guild, numbers-wise. There might be 20 or 30 people in game, but no one on Ventrilo if none of those people are doing WvWvW or a dungeon (ie: content that needs Ventrilo). We aren’t a guild where everyone sits on Ventrilo 24×7, regardless of what they’re doing in game (or maybe not in game at all). Our forum gets used far more than Ventrilo for general socialising outside of doing “game specific” things. If you want to see a busy Ventrilo, meanwhile, look at our site on Friday night, US time, when a lot of the guild comes together to do WvWvW.

Updated our “read this first” post — which is the first thing you should read before applying to become a member:
Welcome to our first batch of applicants. If anyone would like to see our application process “in real time” before submitting an application of their own, now’s a good time to take a look, honestly.
A warm welcome to “Sultan” who has now joined us. We have also knocked back a few applications showing that, indeed, we’re serious in our FAQ and other mentions on our website when we say that we truly are a selective guild. That doesn’t mean the people we knock back are “bad” people or “bad” applicants, necessarily, simply that we look for people who will fit in with our existing 90 members, not people who are going t struggle and be “outside” of what everyone else is like. Always happy for more applications

I’m always sad when folks find they need to move on and leave our group of Irregulars. Each time they say it was a difficult decision to make and how they wish they didn’t have to but life throws us all curve balls every now and then and we honor anyone’s outside commitments as first priority.
With that said, there is an up side as well, we meet new people. Some make it in and some don’t. A very close gaming friend of mine didn’t and we both understood because we are adults and we still play with each other. Luckily ArenaNet has made it very easy to do. But what I’m trying to say is I and I’m almost sure I can speak for all my Irregulars family love meeting new folks, enjoy the Q&A process of the application and when it all jives it’s exciting, new family!
If you want to take a look at our recruitment here, http://lionsarch.org/forum/index.php?topic=414.0 first, then fill out an application, we would love to hear from you.

A warm welcome to “Celestialbreeze” who has now joined us.
There are also four people currently undergoing our Q&A, which is done publicly — anyone is free to stick their head in and take a look.
Who knows? You might just realise we’re the right guild for you, too.
I’d like to say, as someone that has never formally met or even spoken with any of you, you seem like a very organized guild with rock-solid foundation. On top of that, your members are happy, speak highly of you, and show you loyalty. I went and looked over your pages and found many similarities between my ideals and yours. I wish I had 94 people to start with but I definitely do not. When the day comes when Wings of Eclipse starts recruiting, I hope that we can eventually become a tightly knit and solidified guild like this one. One thing I read that I particularly liked was that the guild strives to add to the community that it is a part of. I think that is a very simple concept that gets overlooked far too often. Happy recruiting and best of luck in the future.
Thanks for your kind words. One of the “secrets” to our success was starting off, pre-game. Not too long before game that it fatigued people, but long enough that we could gather the team and get to know one another, via our forum and some Steam gaming, without the “distraction” of GW2 being live yet.
A warm welcome to Lady Lorilei, Revan and Kion.
Another three great new members joining [LION]
Just a note that as we approach 100 members, we will be starting to slow down recruiting, perhaps even shut it off for some time. Just giving advance warning.

I joined Lion’s Arch Irregulars a little while ago, and I must say I am rather impressed. If you’re looking for a more mature guild but still love to have some fun, I heartily suggest checking the guild website out and putting in an application. Definitely one of the better guilds I’ve been involved in in almost 20 years of gaming!
A warm welcome to Veeh — another great member

I joined this guild about 6 weeks before the game went live, and spent that time – as everyone else in the guild had – getting to know an exceptional group of people whom I now call my extended family.
If playing GW2 in a friendly, mature, PG-13 friendly environment, where mutual respect and help is taken as par for the course is appealing to you, I cannot recommend this guild highly enough.
Guild members are on a first name basis, and the welcoming attitude is something I look forward to enjoying every day.

I’ve been in this guild for around a week now, and I’ve loved every minute of it. This is definitely a different sort of guild – one where everyone cares about everyone else, and it’s more of a group of friends or a family than it is a random grouping of people. If you like tight-knit communities and friendly, caring people, this is a guild you should look more closely at.

I was like you. Looking for a quality guild. Trying to find that ‘best fit for me’. [LION] was it. The genuine friendships and sense of community is outstanding. The members of this guild help eachother out. There are no clickish elitest groups within the guild. It’s like going to your favorite hangout where you know everyone. You are never a stranger in the pride.
If anyone would like to see the guild in person and out in force, look out for us during Mad King festivities today and in the days ahead…

I’ve been a member of [LION] since launch and I’ve loved every minute of it. Everyone is warm and friendly, lending a hand to those in need. For example during the first day of the Mad King event, we had a full group of LIONs exploring Tyria, hunting clues and looking for ghosts to get the memories. Without them, I’d be totally lost given my poor sense of direction.
So if you’re looking for a respectful and tight-knit guild with no drama, check us out!

If I had to summarize in one word what it’s like in [LION]. It would have to be family. I appreciate that and what it means to be a member of the guild. Cheers to blur for building a great community which I am lucky to be a member of. Check this out for more information. http://lionsarch.org/forum/index.php?topic=414.0
