Our guild has a problem: of our 150 members, around 100 do not play anymore to the game and we cannot start kicking everyone who’s not online because we could accidentally kick someone that keeps playing, since noone can remember all the names of members.

Can we have a feature like in GW1 where we could see the last login from a member?

You should post this in the suggestions forum. Not sure arenanet reads this one. Agree it’s a good suggestion…

Another option is just doing a roll call. Have the people in charge of the guild message everyone (yes, ~140 people is a lot, but it shouldn’t take longer than one day, if everyone commits), and kick off those who don’t respond within a week. Should have the guild cleared in no time.

But, if you only have 150 members then there are plenty of slots for you to grow without resorting to kicking other people. Sometimes people wander away for a couple of weeks or even a couple of months, then come back to playing again. Last night I saw two of our members, a husband/wife team, log in that hadn’t been on since Halloween! It was great to see them again and it sounds like they’ll be able to be back in the game regularly, but even if they aren’t in often when they sign in they’ll be able to find a dungeon team, or do fractals, or jump into WvW without having to worry about meeting new people to do so.

Having those greyed out names at the bottom of the roster absolutely doesn’t hurt. You just also need to have green ones at the top; the green is what you need to work on — the grey can be safely ignored. If you spend as much time and effort on getting and keeping active players as it would take to e-mail 140 people, wait for responses, cross them off your list, kick them, and deal with the bad feelings that new people would have if walking into a guild and seeing a history of its leaders kicking 140 members, you’ll have plenty of green and also the great feeling of seeing old friends when they do decide to pick up the game and play again.

One suggestions would be to start sending out mail messages to players you believe to be inactive and ask them to respond with a few days or they will be removed from the guild, that’s what we do with our members. But I agree, I’d love to be able to see when my members last logged in!

I am in a large guild of about 450 the way we did it was to take a screen shot of every ones achievement points and if they hadn’t changed in 3 weeks we would kick them from the guild. We would also send them an ingame mail and tell them it was do to inactivity and if they started playing again to let us know and we would reinvite them.
