Hello, I am looking for a group to do tournaments with. My homeserver is Sanctum of Rall, but I don’t care what the group’s homeserver is.
About me:
- In school
- (however) lots of free time due to how it’s set up. I can play virtually any time of the week
- US/East Coast
- English
- Skype/Teamspeak/Mumble/Vent for VOIP in order of preference
I want to do competitive PvP in Guild Wars 2 once it is enabled. My prior experience is primarily WoW arena, at anywhere between 2000-2400 rating depending on the time period. I have no experience in WoW rated BGs. Other than WoW, I do competitive Tribes, and I played SWTOR very heavily for a few months (rank 50ish in powertech). Other than WoW and Tribes though, I don’t have any competitive experience, and most PvP games (SC2 for example) are mostly casual.
Currently I am sporadically doing tournaments with a small guild of friends in GW2. I want a more competent group however, since we’re mostly guessing and learning from our mistakes. It’s difficult though, since there’s no MMR, to know if what we did was a bad strategy or if the other team is just miles ahead of us.
At the moment I am mixed between a ranger (shortbow-condition & GS/longbow-power), thief (backstab-roamer), and warrior (Hammer/100B & sword/axe/longbow-conditon). I can of course change my build to whatever is suitable for the comp, or change professions. The only profession I don’t feel comfortable playing is a mesmer, since it’s the only one that isn’t immediately obvious for me. I can learn it, but it would take a few weeks. My rank is 23.
I’m of course not the best player and can’t promise anything like that, but my main motivation is just to learn and get better. I can’t do that my current set-up, since everything is either not a challenge, such as fighting a random person in hot-join or in a PUG, or I get destroyed so badly I learn nothing from the experience, such as fighting any good premade. Whenever my group encounters these, we try to emulate the strategies, but that really doesn’t help us because of what I already listed above. We don’t know if we did something right if we get destroyed every time by better teams.
What I want from the group
I’m not expecting anything like Paradigm or Super Squad, but I’m looking for a group who are at least competent, have prior PvP experience and current PvP experience in GW2. A good indicator of the “skill” of what I’m looking for: beats PUGs incredibly easily with a large success rate, and at least puts up a very good fight or wins versus the majority of premades.
I want a US-English guild, timezone is irrelevant though. West coast, east, central, or mountain work just fine.
You need to do frequent tournaments, with at least several a week. Majority members as well should probably have around 20+ rank as well, as that demonstrates that the members have done tournaments/sPvP fairly frequently.
