I am looking for a guild where there are actual players on most times, and that can just give some general help to a relatively new player. I have several toons I started and the highest lvl I got on on is a 33 guardian. I have tons of questions, and have tried searching online to understand how the dungeons and WvW work, but its all very confusing to me. I will be off from school in about a week and will probably devote quite a bit of time playing on line and leveling up characters. I am most interested in doing dungeon runs with others and maybe learning more about WvW and participating in that as well.

If there is any patient active guild willing to take a newb in and answer questions, that would be awesome. I am willing to do ventrilo, or skype or whatever method is needed for real time communication.

Thanks,
Stealthkitty.3274

Stealth Kitty,
Our recruiting thread is linked below. We have a few college students on our roster in the same boat as you as far as time goes. Our membership is a mix of younger and older folks. We use VOIP programs and work as a team. Our focus is on WvW but we do other activities in game as well. Take the time to look at our thread & website and let me know if we are the sort of folks you would like to run with.

Hey Stealthkitty!

Cynical would love to be your new home! We have a lot of great resources and programs available for new players such as yourself, and can definitely help you get some experience in the game, while at the same time making some new friends along the way!

We are a mid sized guild of approx 140 players, with 40+ people on during peak times, so there are always people on to group with. We have a great guild mentor program set up, to help new players with their questions about the game. We also off WvW workshops which help new players such as yourself learn the ropes in WvW!

If you are interested, here is our recruitment post with full details on our guild:

Hi Stealthkitty! First off, since you are newer to Guild Wars, welcome! It is an awesome game and there are many great communities out there.

I made this guide the other day: http://www.madcastgaming.com/forum/showthread.php?13932-So-You-Want-to-Play-Guild-Wars-2&p=127494 for newer players. It covers things that are not explicitly mentioned in the tutorial. You may know some of them, but if not maybe it will help you out. At the very least some of the websites linked in the Resources section may give you help on your questions about Dungeons and WvW.

I don’t know what server you are on, but MadCast Gaming, my guild, is on Sanctum of Rall. Even if you are on a different server, that is fine! Guesting is a really great feature of GW2 that will allow you to do everything with people on another server EXCEPT for WvW. If you are not really into that yet, you can join a guild on another server and save Coin to buy Gems if you like, and transfer later. When I joined my current guild I was on a different server, so I just guested onto theirs until I saved the gold to switch.

To guest on a server, go to your character select screen. In the bottom left hard side is a button for select your server. You can click on any server on the list that you would. Two buttons show, one for guesting and one for transferring. Guesting lasts for 24 hrs or until you log out, so whenever you want to play on your guild server you will have to pull up the menu and select it. This is fast and easy though, so you will probably not find it inconvenient.

Now that we got that out of the way, let me tell you a little bit about why you might like my guild, MadCast. MadCast is a gaming community that is bigger than GW2, but we are working on growing our GW2 sector right now. You can check out our website at www.madcastgaming.com. I especially suggest you read through the forums some to get a feel for what we are all about! Here are some points you may find attractive about MadCast:

We have a mature community. While MadCast has no specific age requirements we do have high expectations for maturity. You will find kind, patient people and no drama. The vast majority of our members are over 18 (especially in GW2).

We are a serious community with casual gameplay. In other words, the main expectations we have for members revolves around positive contribution to the community and not on a packed GW2 schedule attendance. If you are active in the forums and show up to a few events a week, that is good enough for us. Our community is made out of all levels of players. We have many very new players, some new to gaming in general, and our environment is built on kindness and helpfulness. Everyone in there will be happy to answer you questions and guide you through things.

We have a super awesome, active TeamSpeak group. We enforce strict rules of respectfulness and tolerance among our players, making it a safe friendly place for everyone. People of all types feel comfortable joining in the conversation and making new friends.

Our community is bigger than in-game. We have a website with a lot of activity and heavy forum use. This is a huge asset because we have people who play all kinds of games over at MadCast, and the forums really serve as the uniting factor among people.

If you check out our website, you will see information about becoming a Full Member of MadCast. This is not something you need to do right away. Our guild welcomes ‘Associate’ Members, meaning we will add you to the guild, you are free to use our TeamSpeak and join our Forums, but you do not have complete access rights for inviting people to the guild yourself, or accessing certain Full Member parts of our forum. This is a good way to find out if MadCast is the right fit for you before applying. In the long run, to gain any ranking position, we require people to be an official MadCast Full Member.

If you want to, I’d love to invite you to join us and meet some of our members. I would encourage you to join us in our TeamSpeak (you can find information about that here: http://www.madcastgaming.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?2-New-to-MadCast). Alternatively, you can private message me in game, and I would be happy to add you in to one of our parties. TeamSpeak is our main form of communication, and even if you aren’t comfortable using your mic, it would be great if you installed it just to listen to the chatter. Quite a few of our members participate this way.

This Saturday night at 9 PM EST we are having some guild events where we will be doing the new dungeon that came out for the Living Story and also showing new players WvW. You are welcome to join us for that if you want to meet some people and get a feel for things.

If you have any questions you can message me in game, post here, or join our forums and ask there. I will also try to drop you a quick whisper in game if I see you on.

Hey Kitty! (Not sure if that’s what you go by ><)

I wrote a long message earlier and it didn’t go through. SAD LIFE T________T. But I am willing to try this again. Hopefully I capture everything I wanted to say earlier xD.

I am representing VZ – Valor Zeal. If you are looking for competent and skilled players who actively keep up to date on what’s new and what’s effective and engages themselves in all aspects of GW2, you may want to consider joining our very pleasant group of friends.

We often do dungeons, WvW, and sPvP. There’s a person for everything really! And we always love teaching our new recruits and helping through anything they need buddies for.

But I am sure most guild groups will provide the same offers. SO, let me tell you what’s different about VZ.

Closeness. Our guild above all else is a close group willing to help players individually – as a group – and be there for anything big or small (we’ve done an entire guild mission redo for players and have helped our members with their personal guild missions). Often times, you’ll find yourself in a guild but lack the relationship with guildmates and sometimes even the leaders. Each member in VZ is committed to the betterment of other members — it’s just what we do!

Our leader. I am not sure about your guild experience, but I don’t believe any other guild you enter will have a leader like Rising Dusk or ‘Eve’ is what I call him. There’s just something about having him in your party, whether it be in WvW or PvE/Dungeons that makes you think ‘Man, he really makes a difference’. It’s a great kind of confidence you would like to have for any leader and rest assured, he always at the top of his game when it comes to gathering information, commanding in WvW, executing dungeon runs, and just having a blast.

Organization. You’d be surprised at the amount of collaboration we get done with just chat alone! We have a TS server, but it’s really just what’s your cup of tea. Again, credits go to our leader for the organization of big events such as guild missions effectively but in smaller groups, most of our members know how to approach any and all content effectively.

I believe that sums up most of the points that I wanted to convey to you. We do not require you to rep a certain amount of time nor be active for a certain amount of time. Just rep if you hang out with us. A lot of our new recruits have tried ‘trial runs’ with our guild, so if that way of getting to know the guild and seeing what we have to offer floats your boat, then we can definitely do that.

I am the sPvP head of the guild (self-appointed xD) so if you every wanted to go into that area, that’s also something we can help you out with. Send me a PM or in-game mail if you are interested. But if there’s anything else you need from me as a player, let me know! Welcome to GW2 Kitty.

Aw man, all that writing for nothing :P. Well, if you ever want to reap some guild mission rewards, you can become a mercenary for our guild whenever you want and just show up Wed nights to get some free rares and commendations when you hit 80 or so. If guildmates can’t aid you in dungeon runs, feel free to whisper me in-game.

Cheers.
