Guild Wars 2

In an attempt to make finding groups for dungeons and fractals easier in the oceanic time zone (GMT+10), I’ve created two new guilds, ‘dungeon find’ and ‘fractal runs’.

Here’s how I figured it would work:

-You join the Dungeon Find or Fractal Run guild, depending which you want to run (I seperated them to keep guild chat from getting too spammy)
-You represent the guild, and then use guild chat advertise what fractal level or dungeon you wish to do.
-Other people also attempting to find a group can read your chat and respond, wherever they are. Providing we can get enough active members in to these guilds, this means you won’t have to stand around in LA waiting for a group. You can do dynamic events or a jumping puzzle in wvw or whatever, and organise a dungeon run at the same time. (Only downside is some influence going to waste I guess).

Once you have your group ready to go, you can stand down and represent whatever guild you want to do the actual activity. The point of these groups isn’t to earn influence or upgrades or anything – they are functional groups only.

I figure i’d give invite rights to all new members, and invite all the people I’ve been running with recently to start with. If any fellow oceanic players do the same, we should be able to get a healthy roster up in no time which should make finding groups much easier.

Background:

I’m looking at alternate (more efficient, hopefully) ways to organise dungeon groups specifically for players in oceania since it can be a bit harder to find players at our peak times. Spamming in LA or the map in question can get a bit tiring, and doesn’t help you find people that aren’t in these areas but that may still be interested in grouping for the dungeon.

The LFG tool doesn’t seem to be used much, perhaps because it’s limited to the map the player is in, though if it was cross map it might be good enough for what I want. But right now it’s not there yet.

Maybe eventually ArenaNet will come along with something and this won’t be needed any more, but in the meantime this seems like a decent in game solution to this problem.

Some other guilds already exist for this sort of purpose (I think) but I don’t know of any for the oceanic region so this post seemed like a good idea.

I like the initiative and the idea in general but the thing is, we shouldn’t have to do this. Anet have spent the last 4 months updating PvE through events and zones yet they STILL ignore the public outcry for extremely important features like a LFG tool.

How many people have you had join the guild so far because I personally have had enough success using www.gw2lfg.com and considering 95% of the time i’ll have guildies on who are keen to run a dungeon, i’m just not sure if this is worth while.
