Hello all. I’ve been browsing the forum posts and I’m continually impressed by the helpful and friendly tone that seems to characterize the “Looking for Guild” threads. So I decided to post myself in the hopes of finding some like-minded players.
My main character is a level 80 human ranger on Anvil Rock. I’m not considering a server transfer at this time, because I have real-life friends as well as a couple of family members playing on AR now. One’s in a WvW-focused guild, which is fine but not what I am seeking for myself. I do enjoy running WvW every once in a while, but I’d prefer that it not be an expected thing, if that makes sense. I also am not in any other guilds and I don’t intend to be in more than one. I’d like to represent one guild at all times, I think I’m “old-school” in that way.
About me: I’m a married dad, I work full time, and I game with my teenage son who has a level 76 ranger (soon to be 80, we hope!) and I’d like to find a guild that would welcome us both. I play most evenings for an hour or two (between 7:00 and 9:00 PM Pacific time) and we both play together on weekends. My son rarely plays during the week because of school work. We both have many years of MMO experience, going back to City of Heroes, of course WoW, and we consider ourselves smart players. I don’t have the twitch reflexes that he does, of course.
I read all the complaints about the ranger class and while I understand it to an extent, I really like the class and I think I’ve learned to play it pretty well. But I will never top the damage charts in PvP, nor do I have any interest in doing so. I’ve played ranger/pet classes in almost every game and they just click for me.
I’ve recently reached Orr in-game and I’ve been fortunate enough to run with a few really fun, really satisfying groups. I have the most fun in this game when I’m running around, completing events and just killing things with a group of players. In 80 levels I have yet to do a single dungeon, never mind the new Fractals “hotness”, because I have been frankly put off by the tales of supreme difficulty that I’ve heard. I’m not sure I would be up to the challenge and I don’t want to burden a group with that. I WOULD be willing to try the dungeons with a guild group. I ran 5-man heroics in WoW all the time and came to really enjoy them, but this was some time ago. I know Guild Wars dungeons are another beast altogether.
I have about 61% world completion and I’d like to work on that as well. My ideal guild would still want to run in Orr and help open the temples (I have 2 pieces of exotic temple armor and I’m working on that as a long-term goal) as well as run in Southsun Cove if we feel like it, and maybe some dungeons if the group make-up is ideal, and patient. I have zero interest in structured PvP but do enjoy WvW at times, just not as a primary thing. Maybe we’d group up to help someone get that last waypoint in a zone…things like that.
I know the whole Ascended gear/Fractals thing has changed the game, and not necessarily for the better. In closing, I guess I’m looking for a group of people who still want to enjoy the rest of the PvE end-game (since I just got there!) and not just the new elements.
