• Do you want to play the game the way you find fun, without feeling pressurised to have a certain spec or wear particular gear?
• Is having a good time with friends more important to you than “phat lewtz”?
• Would you like to be in a place where you won’t be insulted for making a simple mistake, or for not knowing what to do?
• Do you want the opportunity to do instances/dungeons, WvW and maybe a bit of sPvP, if and when you fancy it, and with the character you want to do them with?
• Do you want to play with people who can have a laugh and mess around, but still work together to get the job done?
• Are you looking for a place where people look out for each other, and a sensible level of behaviour is expected, but rarely has to be enforced, because the members are those sorts of people anyway?
• Would you like to join a guild with a long history, and experienced leaders and administrators?
• Would you like an opportunity to lead a willing and supportive team in PvE or WvW, if that’s something you’d like to do?

Griffon Knight (GK) was started in Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) in 2001. See our website for a bit more info at www.griffonknight.com. In DAoC, we became a very large guild with over 200 members, and were very active in RvR (very much like WvW) and in PvE. Since then we’ve had a presence in all the popular MMO releases. New members joined us along the way and became part of the family.
An original guild master from DAoC is still the GM here in GW2. We have forums and teamspeak, guild bank, guild emblems and other influence rewards.
At release, a number of guildies join GW2, but many tried the game and decided it wasn’t for them. Guild numbers have stabilised at around 8-10 during evenings and weekends, and 2-4 or so during the day. Some members only log in occasionally, as they have heavy family and work commitments, but that’s fine with us. We all have lives away from the keyboard. The regulars are usually on every day…er…and sometimes all day…especially when we’re avoiding doing the DIY/decorating…
We’re EU based : mostly UK at the moment, but that’s coincidental – our wider circle of members is from all over. We can get a group together to do instances when we need to and we’re regularly out in WvW and sometimes in sPvP, but we’d like to grow the guild so we can do more.
We’re keen to do FoTM as a fun place to go and flex our muscles rather than a gear grind. Our members won’t want to be running level 1 forever more, but some of us haven’t even started on these instances yet, and even when we’re all on higher levels, we’ll still drop back to help a guild mate out. That’s the ‘way we roll’ as the saying goes – I scratch your back, you scratch mine. We like to do other instances, dragons, and those secret zones that you stumble on!
We also want to get a much bigger team out in WvW so we can start using our experience from DAoC and from these first few months to make a difference on the maps. We’re working towards getting Commander for our GM so we can lead as well as follow. We’ve been on Desolation since we started and we’re not considering a move. Desolation server has been through its ups and downs, plenty of drama here on the forums, but it has a good population and good guilds already, and if GK can give a home to those who are currently ‘wandering alone’ then we can work together to achieve more in the borderlands. Now that the guild has a stable core of players to build from, we’d like to speak to the leaders of the WvW guilds on our server, to see how we can best help.
Our regular team in GW2 has many years experience of leading teams in instances and in player versus player activities, and in general running of a guild. As the guild grows, demand for group and event leaders is bound to increase, so it would be great if we could recruit a few people who would enjoy being out front – whether this is something you’d done before or whether you’d like to have a try.
We do not have rules about representing the guild. If you join us, represent us when you’re doing activities with us, and otherwise represent whoever it suits you best. We recognise that many players want to stay loyal to their original guilds, we’re just trying to find a way to bring more of us together.
Message any of us in game to find out more, or pop over to our website and forums to check us out.
