Guild Wars 2

Hey everyone,

Myself and a couple of friends have recently started up a Charr warband on the Tarnished Coast server called Steel Warband. Currently, we have 6 members but are looking for more. We actually just “formed” in-game a couple of days ago.

I have recently created a website which is changing everyday… and you’re more than welcome to check it out to maybe get some idea of what we’re doing. Or, you can ask me any questions here in this thread. You can also message me here, on the website, or even in game. I’ll mostly likely respond in a day – no more than 2.

A huge bonus is that we were lucky enough to recruit an RPer who also happened to be a talented concept artist. She will draw all of our characters, which is friggin’ awesome. An example of her art can be found on the gallery on our site, it’s a quick sketch of my non role playing Charr, ‘Skaithe the Blade’ – and it’s really good. I was very impressed and am stoked to have her with us adding new elements to our RP experience.

We also have a section of the website dedicated to our lore, character biographies, stories, etc… which will add another fun element to our immersion outside of game.

We are Blood Legion and so too must you be. Also, the beginning of your Charr surname must include ‘Steel’ as the prefix, as per the lore (Gaul Steelmane, Bryk Steelcore, Rygar Steeljaw, Kurha Steelblood, etc) – if you’re interested and don’t meet either of those requisites, feel free to create a new character – we all started fresh ones for this. Our highest level is 5 right now, so huge level differences won’t be an issue.

Some other guidelines may be found in the forums on the website… and if you end up joining us, your voice will be as equal as the next in determining what our story will be.

I received a PM asking a few more questions, so I decided to post them here and perhaps someone else may find the answers helpful in making a decision.

He/she asked about requirements, including activity requirements and also mentioned they were from another server.

Yeah, transferring servers is free (for now) I believe… however, you will need to keep checking back because the Tarnished Coast is full often.

There are no requirements of activity… and I would ask that if you do join us, you post on the forum in the appropriate thread detailing what your schedule is [usually] like and what time zone you are in. Then, I will try to plan events around our collective schedule, if possible.

The only real requirements at this time are: that you choose a lore appropriate name/surname – are Charr/Blood Legion – don’t pass the highest of us in level – register on our website with your character name – your Charr in Steel Warband is role play only – and don’t play the personal story past the point where we are as a collective.

We also do not do any heavy combat/experience gain unless there are 2 or more of us on (unless you are not an official member yet and wish to catch up to us in level a bit – although we do not let level dictate where our story takes us).

There are several things I recommend that you do though. Such as: create a biography in the Steel Warband Lore section of the website, using the template found in the forums. Also, you can add on as you see fit to the story of your character via chapters… and of course contributing on the forums is very appreciated and helps foster a sense of community.

Again, we’ve just started in this past week so things are still in the developing stages… but that is the most fun part.

I also had an idea where “Blood Legion Steel Tokens” will be rewarded to members for participating in events/writing stories on the websites/etc… and those tokens will be applied later on for rewards. There is also a calendar that we can use to sign up for upcoming RP events.

If you would like to join, you character must be “recruited” in game. If you can think of a cool way in which to play that out, that would be awesome. If not – no pressure, we are always looking for new warband members and can “stumble upon you” out in the world and engage you from there. Just now that you’re not an “official” member until you are recruited in game.

That is all I can think of off hand… but please let me know if you have more questions.
If you like the sound of it all, go ahead and register on the forum with the character name you like “[Something] Steel[something]” and I will approve you. You may want to look at our roster first so you don’t duplicate anyone else’s surname (the roster is one of the tabs at the top of the screen) You can also go ahead and create your Charr and play through the first instance and the personal story up to and including the “Time for a Promotion” chapter. Our highest character level is currently 5 so please do not surpass that. And don’t forget to transfer servers!

Anyway, I hope you are still interested… we may seem strict in some regard but it’s not because we think it makes it less fun… it’s because we think it makes our experience MORE fun! Immersion = awesome role play experience!

Just wanted to mention that I think this is a fantastic idea, and from my initial conversations with Skaithe, it seems like they are serious about the guild and executing it very well. Looking forward to meeting the group soon!

Hey everyone! I just joined the Warband and I am already blown away by how well this is being organized. We just played last night and it was TONS of fun! If you’re thinking about joining, just go ahead and go for it! The people are friendly and the set up is solid!

Just had my first RP experience with the group yesterday. Even as somewhat of a RP noob, I felt the experience was really inclusive. They really take the time to help you with your personal story. Also – the group is very friendly and helpful outside of the RP. Would recommend you definitely check it out soon while it’s still relatively easy to catch-up level-wise.

We’re really growing quickly.

I believe we’re sitting at 11 members now… and I think I would like to make 17 the max for a good long while so we can develop our characters before maybe splitting into multiple warbands.

You guys sound quite interesting. I’ve been avidly looking for an RP guild on TC.

Though, I tried applying on the site and it was just stuck at the application screen, can’t get it past there.
