The Sisterhood has noticed you.
This guild was founded on the idea that women need to find a safe haven, a place where they can feel cozy and welcome without having to face the pressure of sexism. It’s true that the gaming world has come a long way in terms of gender equality. Sexism is still there, however. And it can still ruin a gaming experience.
The Sisterhood was created to give female players the chance to call a guild home and feel like part of a team without constantly being poked and prodded (even insulted) for their gender. We are a group of women who do not settle for mediocrity. We are the dignified women who use our gaming skills and knowledge to be great. We are tired of the perverted comments and shameless flirting. We do not need to lower ourselves to such a level to be noticed. We are looking for more women to band together with us and enjoy our judgment-free, support-filled family.
These are some of the things to expect from The Sisterhood:
- A website with active forums.
- A private mumble server.
- 18+ drama-free, friendly environment.
- A strong focus on RP.
- Casual but committed leaders and members.
We are located on the Piken Square server [the unofficial EU RP server, though the guild is based in the US] and are a close-knit group. We are looking to grow a bit, but not to a number that results in losing people in the crowd. We help each other out; running dungeons together, sharing helpful advice and elevating the mood of anyone that is around us!
We are an all-female group in-guild. We do, however, accept certain respectful men onto our guild’s website (with a sponsor from one of the Sisters). We want to have a place for the supportive men in our Sister’s lives to have a place to go to as well if desired, since we are restricting our actual guild to female-only.
Please check out our website and send your application in if you feel The Sisterhood is the guild for you:

And if you are not looking to join us, but would like to support our cause, feel free to leave a bump.. <3
The Sisterhood is everywhere.
The Sisterhood is a LGBT friendly guild. We defend our own. We embrace any challenge and continually prove people wrong. We are all sisters coming from different areas of the world and different paths in our lives but we are all one.
If you took the Knights Templar, added some Freemason flavor, and made all the members female, you’d have The Sisterhood. We aim to be frightening, mysterious, and cultish. Still, the bravery, genius, and resourcefulness of our individual members can never be underestimated; The Sisterhood always finds its way into the darkest rooms, the most secluded meeting places, and the furthest refuges, and our agents act swiftly and ruthlessly if needed. Our diplomats appear before royalty, and our spies flood their governments and affect policy. We are everywhere. We see everything. And when we reach out, nobody escapes our grasp.
Bumping with this post!
Is there anyone in your guild based in Tarnished Coast, the US unofficial server? This would be a guild that’d mesh well with my character, however, I am not in Piken Square! You said you’re primarily based in the US, so just wondering!
Thank you, McKnighter! We are encouraging people to try out Piken Square while the transfers are still free – we currently do not have anyone on Tarnished Coast, that I am aware of. I reside in Jade Quarry right now and am managing that faction of the guild, though. Feel free to contact me in-game or through PM for extra info, as well!
You ladies should def. consider a Tarnished Coast chapter.
/support from SHC
I’ll actually take a look into that – I’ve been hearing good about TC lately, I’ll have to go to the big boss ladies with this idea.
I appreciate it Ruj – best of luck SHC!
Ah, I see.. well lots of thanks anyways, Illiad. And it does, totally count as another bump. I’m quite grateful for that, I hope you know!
Oh it’s Kai!. Things are going well for you!
Hey Syouke! Yeah, they are – The Sisterhood is the perfect fit for me and has been a life saver! I hope you’re doing good too – how are things over there?
Hehe, that’s great to hear! Yeah, things are going good on my side too, it starts to grow quite a bit :P
I can’t join because I’m a man but I wanted to say this. Its really sad that women are being forced to make their own exclusive guilds because so many men act like immature children when they can hide behind a screen of anonymity.
That is great to hear Syouke! I’m so glad – you guys deserve a good following and I wish only the best for you.
@ VincentCross – You have no idea how grateful I am for your insight and post. I have a very supportive boyfriend who feels the same way as you. The point of The Sisterhood is not to say that all men are immature or perverted – but to provide a safe place away from the ones who are.
That is why we are more than happy to take the supportive, respectful men onto our website to RP with us and share their valuable ideas and knowledge about the game on our forums.. (I like to refer to them as real men).
I dunno about this. women are players too and if they need to flee into a woman’s only guild to feel safe, I fear for the future of gaming. I think both men and women should try to work together in this game, not only because it’s an admirable goal requiring effort from both, but because it just seems to be the right way to go.
Not to mention the idea of a woman’s only guild for the sake of being away from men seems just as bad as men sexually or other wise attacking women, not everyone is the same, try to reach out a little!
I think you need to look at it in a different way, just to see our point – if I may explain.
It is sad, but I cannot tell you the countless amount of times I have tried to integrate into several different guilds having both male and female players and having constant disappointment. The effort has to be on both sides, you’re right.. but we don’t live in a perfect world.
And we do reach out! As I stated before, we are not trying to hide from men – we do not accept women who are judgmental or drama-driven. We are getting away from the comments and harassment as a whole, but we do have a theme, obviously. There are several guilds who are location or race themed as well. If you’ve ever seen “Asian/Oceanic Guild only” or “Pvpers only” or even “Pacific Time Zone Only” guilds, which there are several out there.. you might not be as uncomfortable with the idea of The Sisterhood.
We do not talk bad about other guilds, we do not believe all men are sexist or immature, we do not look down on co-ed guilds and we did not “give up” on believing in good people existing in the gaming world. We simply have an idea, just as everyone else does, and intend to grow stronger through adversity and encourage other people to never tolerate or put up with the unnecessary misogyny that occurs too often in games.
Well that sounds great and all and I really hope it works out for you, but personally, I could never do it. My guild is a place of respect where segregation is not required to achieve equality among the sexes, for the few female members we have, we have always treated them as equals and fellow gamers which I believe is a true image of what a guild and group of partners should be. This is not an attack on your ideals or ideas, I’m just hoping that this sort of thing won’t become something that will define the seperation of male and female gamers, at least on Guild Wars 2 that is. I want to have the opportunity for anyone who wants to call themselves my friend to play with me, no matter thier differences.
Thank you, I appreciate your opinion on it. If every guild were like how you say yours is, treating every member equally and never having any instances of inappropriate flirting/sexual attacks (direct or indirect in random conversations) then we wouldn’t feel a need to have this specific guild, because none of those issues (that we choose to deny entry to our guild) would exist.
We come across more people than you’d like to imagine who are a part of a guild that has plenty of inappropriate comments and they never say a word, because they have become used to the idea that misogyny is everywhere.. and they are forced to tolerate it. Sometimes the issue isn’t men making “kitchen jokes”.. sometimes it’s simply the fact that there are too many immature boys/men in guilds who think it’s alright to throw out a sexual comment about something that would offend a woman. These things slip all the time in guilds through jokes, insults, etc. Not everyone has the same sensitivity level, so one comment may be inappropriate to one girl where as it is totally fine to another girl.
We’re here to offer women some sanctuary from any chance of that. We are more aware of it than others because it is our focus to completely rid such incidents from existing within our guild.
Razeluxe, the truth of the matter is, misogyny is invisible to most people. It’s so part of our culture and our expectations that it’s easily missed. Misogyny can be something as innocent as choosing all males on your raid/dungeon run because that awesome tank chick that wants to go just “doesn’t feel right” (this has happened more than once, to many of us). It doesn’t always have to be what all of us see in map chat every day, though it often is. Either you are a feminist male and you see the value in what we’re doing, or at the very least understand why we’d create a refuge for the women that do want one, or you’re simply a part of the patriarchy and don’t even realize the message you’re sending.
It’s not about exclusivity. It’s about women uniting. You may say you treat your female guildmates just fine, and for all I know, you do. But if you really cared about them – truly cared – you’d understand that there are some women (not all, but some) who simply want a community of women to game with. It’s really not too much to ask for, and that’s why The Sisterhood exists.
There have been plenty of female-only guilds in games before. Our guild is no different. We’re not man-haters. In fact, a statement like that is a very patriarchal view of a woman-only space. Men have plenty of spaces that are “only for them”, and this is no different. We have a website and a forum where like-minded men are welcome to join us, chat with us, and even participate in guild events. Part of the reason we find the necessity to make a female-only guild is because, frankly, we’re tired of being told what to do.
While I respect the fact that you want men and women to work together to eliminate sexism and misogyny all together, the video gaming world has leaps and bounds to go before it’ll ever make it to that point. As long as map chat is still filled with kitchen jokes, and as long as boys still like to say that “there are no women on the interwebz”, then I think its fully understandable why our guild exists.
With all due respect, we really don’t appreciate being told that our guild philosophy is “wrong.” Everyone has the freedom to make whatever guild they please (within reason, of course), so we ask our space be respected, just as we respect everyone elses’ space.

I’d just like to point out here that I never once attacked the ideals of this guild. In fact I believe I went out of my way in my second post to make that clear. I wish you all the best in your pursuit, I was only expressing my thoughts on the matter.
A view into our History..
The Sisterhood’s roots go back to pre-searing Ascalon. One hundred years before that catastrophe, priestesses of Dwayna met with representatives of other faiths in secret.
A military and religious order was to be created to guide Ascalon from the shadows. Female warriors of Balthazar joined healers of Dwayna, mesmers of Lyssa, and woodswomen of Melandru. Even assassins following Grenth were eventually summoned. Ascalon was in peril, and the united faiths wanted a power behind the throne. The Sisterhood was born.
The Sisterhood is divided into four distinct orders, with each order providing a particular focus for the women within. Each order is governed by an Abbess, elevated to their position by a resigning Abbess and based partly on popular acclaim.
I have to agree with VincentCross. I’m a man and i came here wondering why the need to a Girls Only Guild. And when i was reading your explanation i understood the need.
Men are jerks, i’m a man and i can say this with a clean face. In games we can be worse much worse because we don’t need to stare at you when we say something. And you can bet the majority of these in game jerks, in real life, they can’t even talk straight to a girl and its just sad. Because if they could they wouldn’t act like that, they would understand that they don’t need to fake a strong image and risk being a total idiot to be able to talk to you.
That’s my vision of the subject. I just wanted to share.
And if you spot a man being a jerk just don’t give a kitten and keep going. I’ll say that when you just ignore them they feel much more drepeciated.
Ps: Sry about the poor english ;P
FireoX, I just wanted to get on here and say thank you for your awesome post!! It’s true, so true, every word, though you’ve proven that our male allies understand us – you included. You’re awesome!
Thank you so much for the love, and you’re welcome on our site anytime!
Thank you so much for your input, FireoX! It is good to see someone who is confident enough to see the problems that we have brought up here. We never want men to feel like we are purposely excluding them. Especially the good men of the gamer world!
I find it very incredible that you are able to be able to look past the initial assumption that people seem to have of “hate for men” and see that we are simply trying to avoid the sexism and other issues from the men [and women] who choose to treat us badly or view us as only something to flirt with on the game.
Fantastic guild! Safe spaces are very important. Women should be able to have fun without having to worry about bullkitten.
Bullkittens are scary indeed :P
Anyway, i hope more of you think about joining
Update!
There is a chapter for the Tarnished Coast US server, so now the guild has guild members and leaders on both Tarnished Coast and Piken Square. Feel free to join either server, whichever suits your timezone/connection! Check the website for more information.
While I respect and understand the purpose of this guild, and will post to give it a bump for those who feel this way. I honestly, however, feel that guilds like this are a step backwards.
Yes there are plenty of men out there who are straight up perverts online among the other nuances men can put off on female gamers, but everyone must realize this isn’t restricted to just women. Men are just as hateful, inappropriate, and trolling to each other….if not more so in many cases. If you have ever played a game of Halo (any version since 2), Call of Duty, and any more competitive part of an MMO you would think the perverts are nothing compared to the racist, hatred, and all out psychotic behavior. More often than not the perverts and psychotic-racist-haters are one in the same.
A lot of gamers, sadly, feel that the digital barrier that is between you and them allows them to throw morals and respect out the window. Every one of them have a reason for doing it whether it’s personal or just overall idiocy. No matter the reason, it is wrong to be this way and again it is not just restricted to female victims.
I support the right and freedoms that you have this guild and to others that are similar. If you feel safer in a guild like this more power to you. I just in the end feel sectioning yourself off by gender is a step backwards from the overall problem in the gaming/digital world.
Blocking/Reporting evolution to me is the way forward.
I wish you the best with your guild endeavors and thank you for hearing me out whomever reads this.
Thank you for your opinion, skom. I agree with you on reporting inappropriate behavior. Definitely a wonderful thing.
I will say, too many a time has happened where perverts get away with being so in guilds because people get “used to it” and just end up going “Oh, well that’s just how he is..” and then comments and jokes get over-looked all the time. I have played MANY a COD game (most often with my ex) and I agree.. it is quite obvious that men are “jerks” with men just as they are to women.. but also, most men take insults differently coming from a man than women do. Some men can easily brush off the jokes as nothing and throw them right back.. some don’t. Our women are strong – most of us aren’t the type to just cry and run away when we hear a “bad word”.. but we’re also sick of having to deal with situations where we are patted on the head and told “Oh.. how cute that you think you can do this..” or we run into a guy finding out we’re female and the only thing they know how to do is make flirting comments to us or mention something sexual whenever they talk with us.
I think people take perversion of this extent too lightly. They think just because most men are perverts (at least somewhat), that it’s okay because it’s what the majority are. I’m not comparing perverts to psychopaths, but perverts can be dangerous too. And what I mean by that is usually in the way that weighs heavily on self-esteem, etc.
Thank you again, for your input – always good to see another person’s educated opinion!

Do you know what LGBT means at all? Because from that message i suppose you don’t.
All this means is that we require our members to not to be hateful or negative towards and accept LGBT people.
I imagined all guilds would require that.
I’m glad that you have found a place to call home, but I’m sad that sexism still exists in the gaming world. Not sure why we can’t all be looked at as “gamers” without having a sex tacked on. I know that the need is high for gamers to find a place that they feel comfortable and safe from the near constant assault of disrespectful and sexist gamers (because yes there are female gamers who are just as bad as males). I know the site I work on Ladies of MMOs was made for the specific reason of giving a place for gamers to find like minded people without any sort of harassment. Let me know if you need anything, i’m more than happy to help.
Once again i’m glad that you all have found a way to enjoy the game.

Although I respect your right to think whatever you want, your BS call has just caused you to receive 10 more cards into your hand! (Get it? Because you are wrong and you get the whole BS pile..?)
Joking aside.. we require all our members (female and male – please read the entire first post, we accept men onto our forums.. but you seemed to have ignored that little detail) to be LGBT friendly. It is required and access to the guild or forums is not allowed unless our applicant is LGBT friendly. That should clear everything up for you.

Thank you Luspire.. I completely agree with you (and trust me.. I know what you mean about some women being just as bad or worse than some men. I’ve run into plenty of that, too!) and I appreciate you taking the time to post and share the site with us!
I have to say, I think this is great. Too bad i’m on an other server.
Wow… It’s actually sad that we’ve come to this. Even in video games.
I know. The fact that sandwich jokes and kitten jokes still exist is very sad
An all-female guild is actually a huge step forward. Many women feel afraid to make their gender public in games due to harassment. I’ve known many women who played as male characters and “pretend” to be male just so they can avoid any problems. The fact that a group of women have come together respectfully to create a home away from all the problems is really exceptional. We’re not the first all-female guild, but we certainly won’t be the last.
Thanks for your interest tourmaline – if you ever decide you’d like to transfer or just support us on the forums feel free to apply!
Cakewalk – It is sad that perversion and harassment is still quite rampant in the real world and the gaming community. I don’t think it is sad that there is a place to feel safe from those things. I’m not clear on which you thought was sad – but I can’t imagine you meant the latter.
My usual attitude on things (guilds in this case) like this, is if you’re not hurting yourself, and you’re not hurting others, then by all means do what makes you the most comfortable and the happiest. I do find it unfortunate that so many people think that because it’s a game they can just treat people however they want to. I absolutely agree with something that was said before.
“A lot of gamers, sadly, feel that the digital barrier that is between you and them allows them to throw morals and respect out the window. While I have no problem with what you’re doing or why you are doing it, I do think an alternate and appropriate solution would be to make it a point to recruit men into a guild who did NOT behave as you describe. Not only to show female gamers who feel this way that plenty of decent male gamers do exist who won’t bother them or hit on them or treat them as inferiors, but also to show the players who do behave like immature, chest pounding fools that plenty of their fellow gamers (both male and female) disapprove of their ridiculous behavior.
What an awesome idea for a guild! Inspiring, even. Thank you for doing this!
Thank you Luspire.. I completely agree with you (and trust me.. I know what you mean about some women being just as bad or worse than some men. I’ve run into plenty of that, too!) and I appreciate you taking the time to post and share the site with us!
Welcome. I should probably find a guild one of these days, but i’m always worried about the people and such.
Though I totally respect the guild’s mission, and respect their wishes for this type of environment… as a woman, and a woman who helps run a guild, we have a code of conduct policy that simply states any political, religious, gender based, or LGBT jokes or offensive statements or behavior towards those are absolutely not tolerated.
It’s non-negotiable. Period.
I think the best way to deal with behavior like you described, that led you to make your guild, is not to isolate, but to spread and educate your message outside your guild.
In everyday life, I have to hold my own, speak up, be an example. I don’t take crap from anyone, I can hold my own. If I get treated a certain way (which is rarely because I put the slap down to attitudes the minute it seemingly is going that way) I lead by example, voice my expectations, put the good ole block/ignore on people who cross my personal boundaries.
My point is, your huge collective of sisters, in my opinion, could do a lot more good by spreading this message by infiltrating and playing with other guilds and people than isolating, and segregating yourselves.
Woman have not got where they have in the past 100 years by segregating themselves.
I feel this furthers and perpetuates the very idea your trying to avoid… the notion that that women have to be treated differently, so they congregate to “safe” place.
My personal space/guild is always safe, because I demand it be that way.
I respect and admire the environment your trying to create, for some woman it’s probably perfect for them.
I just think the more strong woman hanging out amongst many guilds and groups help spread this message to many others who actually could benefit from it.
Just my opinion.
First off.. I have to mention how I took a double-take look at your name. Not only that but the numbers are so close to mine as well xD
I personally would love to see all guilds only recruit respectful players (men and women) but there’s just so many that don’t.. whether it’s because the leaders themselves are as we described above or they just don’t care because they just want more numbers or they aren’t being offended by what happens, so it doesn’t matter to them.
I searched for a guild (in other games and this one) that would be mature and friendly but it was really difficult to find what I was looking for. The family-friendly ones seem to be the most non-tolerant of bull but it’s ridiculous the amount of guilds one can go through before they find something that fits with everyone (since everyone has a different sensitivity level).
What an awesome idea for a guild! Inspiring, even. Thank you for doing this!
Thank you very much, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this —^
You know, I fully understand the aversion to offensive jokes. I also understand if people are treated as if they are inferior, why that would kitten them off. I am not so clear on this whole issue of being “hit on”. This is not simply an issue in video games. It seems that just in general life men are somehow looked down on for attempting to strike up conversations with women they find attractive. Which is a bit perplexing, as we are the only species on the planet that I am aware of that finds sexual advances by members of the opposite sex offensive. Were men to halt entirely their advances toward women across the board, the human race would cease to exist. This is basic biology, when you take the politics out of it.
With regard to my “this is sad” comment, what I find sad is that everything under the sun has to be turned in to a cause. Whether it’s because of jerks on the internet, or special interest groups with an agenda. Whatever the reason is, it’s sad to me that we cannot even sit down to play a game without all the politics and segregation based on class, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Speaking for me and mine, none of us give a crap whether you are a man or a woman. What we care about is CAN YOU PLAY. If you cannot play, then you cannot play. You don’t get bonus points for being a man and you don’t get special consideration for being a woman. You are good at what you do, or you are not. Period.
I thought MMO’s were about content, pvp, dungeons, interacting with other people, etc. I guess I was wrong.
@cakewalk
(To be clear, this is Kaii, not Kai the leader of this guild)
Regarding the advances, there are two points to make. The first is that this is a game that they just want to play, they aren’t here for people to try and pick them up. As YOU said, they are here to PLAY. Secondly, it’s a matter of how people go about doing it. I can’t even tell you how many times I shake my head because I see people go up to female avatars, ones they don’t even know, could be anyone (male or female) for all they know, and just start saying the most juvenile ridiculous nonsense. As if anyone would ever enjoy that. Most times the avatar (whoever it is) goes afk or logs off. In a couple very rare occasions I’ve seen the person say they are a guy, and usually the other person runs off.
While I agree that there always seems to be someone up in arms about something, and that everything has to be turned into a cause these days, I still stand by what I said in that if they are not hurting anyone or themselves, they should do what they want. I don’t see anything wrong with making a guild like this. Personally I don’t agree with making it women only, and Azulia made several good points regarding that, but I see no reason for it to be a problem for anyone.
Finally, recruiting people on equal footing based on how well they can play is fine but respect is always a necessity, whether it’s life or a game. There will always be a certain level of personal respect that people SHOULD have for themselves and others, and that line of respect tends to get crossed constantly in games. People say and do things, that if they said/did them in person, would most likely get them punched, beaten, or worse. The fact that it’s a game is not an excuse to ever ignore the importance of respecting people. And I don’t care if someone has the best gear, and is the most skilled person ever at their class, if they behave like an ignorant, immature jerk, then I want them nowhere near me or anyone in my guild. A person like that simply takes the enjoyment right out of a game, which is meant for leisure time relaxation.
