A different thread about Chests
I jut say one simple thing:
- I would like much more to do something really hard to get the skins than depend of luck and how much Keys / Boosters / Tonics I have in my Bank.
Asura thing.
I like rare skins and the fact that not everybody is running around with the scythe or the chainsaw great sword. Would there really be a demand at all for these skins if they weren’t rare? I think people may need to learn a thing or two about supply and demand.
Oh and just a headsup: I’m running around with no skins after opening between 15-20 BLC (I didn’t keep count XD), but that’s that- I took a gamble and lost.
However, if Anet does wish to appease the masses in the future, I do recommend a different approach. If 6 rare skins (perhaps gold in name) are implemented when the next holiday arrives, 6 non-rare skins (still green in name) should also be implemented. Thus when players lose their gamble on the rare skin they still feel like they get something holidayish from receiving the non-rare skin, and may be of the frame of mind that it wasn’t a total loss.
Also there’s the idea of grinding/participating in events for skins, but that’s already essentially implemented with the back piece that looks like the book. It just isn’t obvious to the playerbase.
If only other players thought like you, Latorn!
I myself had forgotten about the book. So in actual fact we have horns (free!), costumes (gems), weapon skins (gems + luck, or from the trading post, or crafting) and the book (participation). And there may be more to come in the later Acts too, who knows.
I think having rare and non-rare skins would be a good idea. Maybe they can consider that if they make an end-of-year event (Wintersday!). I’m sure there’d be unhappiness from a group of people who will still sulk and rant about not getting the rare skins though. There’s no pleasing some people.
For the time being I have mentally closed that topic. I will look at this again once I’ve participated (if I’m able to) at the whole event.
I think the reactions are understandable, the “big ticket” items seem to be only available in the shop at the moment – I agree with Latorn.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
You might think it’s epic to run around and have something to show your e-kitten with, but I’d be more happy with for example doing the whole pact weapon thing with halloween items so you could pickittenem for yourself instead of using 100€ for keys where you possible get nothing.
WoW did this much better, but still kittened up with giving only certain people the only good looking stuff. I think everyone should be given something amazing from halloween. After a year or two, your items will be awesome. LoL is probably the best thing to compare to. They give something worth your money instead of RNG and who cares if everybody has them? After 2 days nobody can buy them either way so only those who bought them will get an e-kitten enlargement.
It’s weird how Anet disabled RNG from so many things, but now use it so willingly…
