The whole argument is moot as the event is around again next year.
Seriously you can’t expect them to take account of all level 10’s still running about.

Think about the forum explosion when they have to go to level 60-70 areas in Act 3 xD.
It’s nice of ANet to make some new (but not overly easy) content for those that’s been playing from day 1!

It’s funny because I manage to do Act 2 with my level 7 alt. If you were smart you would know you can outrun almost all of the mobs in the areas for the pages especially since the majority of the mobs are melee and not ranged. The only part that I could see difficult are the parts where you have to go into a castle or into a crypt but since a lot of people are doing the event there is usually someone of that level in these areas that you can sit behind and wait for them to clear the mobs. Also I doubt they had ALTS in mind when they made the event. I am sure people are doing the event on their main first.

Is there an official statement that we’ll be able to do the Mad King history quests next year?

I was disappointed when I got 11 of the twelve books, then found there wasn’t a reasonable way for me to get to the last one.

Even with an escort, it was too difficult to stay alive with random mob aggro, and I wasn’t going to make my escort resurrect me repeatedly across the zone, not to mention pay the repair costs (guess I could have stripped down for it).

It’s not like the game is only out for 1 week, there was enough time. If you didn’t use your time to lvl then that was your own choice.

There’s fallacy in your statement. You assume everyone who plays the game plays it like you. I’ve had the game since the three-day headstart and have been leveling plenty but I don’t have a single character at level 80. I like variety in my gameplay which is why I created many characters of different professions and races and have been leveling them equally. I didn’t expect that A-Net would punish players like me for not zerg-leveling a single character to 80 immediately by introducing temporary content that is recommended for higher levels.

If they stick to the lore that he only appears every 250 years, then no.

@ Crashcraft
The game has been out for 2 months. That’s plenty of time to level a character to 80. And if you make new characters for the variety, just use a different weapon and the gamestyle with the same character changes completely.
How long, according to you, should ANet have waited until they made “high-level” temp content? A year? Two? There will always be players that don’t have any characters in level 80 because of new players picking up the game. So should they NEVER make any high-level temp content?

Wait how so? The event is un-fun because of the act 2 book? When you can and have access to EVERYTHING else in the event?

Actually I did Act 1 and Act 2 with all my 8 toons, ranged from level 13 to level 80 (5 of them were around level 20), all soloed. I only got help after I arrived at the dungeons near the npc, following others into there, also with a lot of helps of the spy kits from RH. It is not about doable or not, it is about fun or not.

Act 1 was fun because the external factors are minimum.

Act 2, would have been fun instead of frustrated if they considered all those external factors affecting your challenge. Just like the clock tower challenge. You can plan an optimal route, clearing the least mobs with your level 80, switch to your low level and run through it if everything goes as planned. However, most people are running through with a mob train and your plan get screwed up easily, over and over, and mob respawning in insane interval, sometimes 0 second, sometimes 10 seconds, just unpredictable. A mob train can virtually extend the aggro range to an extremely wide area. It is also unpleasant to see so many people producing massive mob trains.

In fact, the two books in the level 45+ zones are much easier because I finally found a route that you need only to avoid just a few melee mobs, whereas the first book in the Harathi Hinterlands had two serious bottlenecks that are really annoying. If they would have added a few friendly Seraph NPCs near the bandit’s area, and make the respawn interval of those stealthing skelks more reliable, things would have been much better and the challenge would be fun. Then it won’t take hours to wait and rely much less on luck.

I got both books twice. Once on my 80 and another time on my mid forties character. I have lower alts, but I think two is a decent number. I’m fortunate in that the people on my server are very kind and will help when they see you in trouble. Would I have been upset if my lvl 80 main was the only one to get something? Nope. There is always next year. Anet was very generous about the lvl ranges for events this time around. Most of them scale you to lvl 80 when you do them.

Well, I spent half an hour rezzing lowbies splattered all over the place along the quest path. Hooboy, good times! I bet they were just having a blast dying every 10 seconds.

The real problem, and it is a BIG problem, is that people specifically asked ANet beforehand whether the events will have a level requirement, and the answer was, “no.” While technically a lawyer could argue that this is indeed the case, I would argue that in practice there has been a breach of good faith.

Whether or not someone could have a level 80 by now is irrelevant. What about the people who bought the game yesterday?

Other games handle these things in a more civilized manner. City of Heroes, for example, generally ran the same holiday events in each zone, at every level range, so that everyone could participate meaningfully.
