Q:

So ArenaNet would rather I miss the entire “finale” event (I have a sports conflict), than have there be videos on the internet that I could look at before I did the event? If so, that’s extremely lame, and I would be very angry at ArenaNet as that would be the only thing stopping me from getting the title “Emissary of the Mad King.”

A:

Yes, they don’t want you to spoil yourself through videos.

Instead, you’ll just have to miss out and only get to participate through videos!

Anet has stated that the one-time event is not tied to the achievements, thus not stopping you from your title.

the one time event also is not the finale, unless you’ve read something i didn’t.

I guess that’s one good thing about this whole situation.

Well I’ve never seen it called a finale, but it is a one time event and that seems to me to make it a fairly important event.

It’s also entirely possible, if not plausible, that the developers will continue this pigheaded decision in the future and make events wholly exclusive and inaccessible in attempt to make them feel like they’re more special.

I just think that the reasons for letting everyone who BOUGHT the game(Yeah game developers remember we paid for this) participate in all the events far out weighs the reasoning that “we don’t want people to watch videos of it before doing the event.” I think the only thing that ArenaNet will achieve with this is more angry customers on top of those they created by what some seem to think was a shaky start.
