So some of the times (okay, well at least twice per run) I kill the scarecrow with my rifle and watch as it fears my teammates off the cliff. Then I laugh while they curse at the mad king. Not many people realize that it’s the killing of the scarecrow. Anyone else do this? What’s your record, at one time I had 3 teammates all fall off, it was kittening hilarious!

Yeah i noticed this quite early , and i use 2 fear breakers just in case.

Still i dont do that , cause well , it only slows me down really.

My teams dont fall. Im good at only useing “shake it off” when i have to

I only learned about the scarecrows causing Fear on death by reading the Wiki. Since then I’m careful only to kill the scarecrows if nobody’s within their radius, or if the party is in a position where the Fear won’t send them off the edge (too far away or there are fences around the cliff).

In my guild group they tell me not to kill the scarecrow, I just didn’t hear that quite well… If you are in the aoe, you are in the wrong spot :P . It is just so hilarious to see someone run off the platform in a straight line. I wouldn’t do it if it caused repair costs or anything, but it doesn’t so we all have a good laugh.

I am guilty of doing this and causing deaths. Got a 4 banger death in one run by accident before I realized what was actually killing me and my teammates. Yes I was one of the 4 who died :p After that happened I was ‘educated’ on the results of destroying a scarecrow and I only killed the scarecrows when needed -those right by the boss where melee can’t get out of range of the crows for instance- however I’d also make sure that just before it died I dropped a Null Field on the melee or those in range if the party was mainly ranged toons, so they wouldn’t actually get feared for longer than a second.

The absolute best death from one for me had to be the one where I killed the scarecrow mere seconds ‘after’ we downed the MK and the one death it caused was the only “true” lvl 80 in the party who got run off the cliff into the mists below. It was truly a mistake as I didn’t realize she was only at half health and in the red circle aoe to be affected. Still it was funny to see her run scared off the cliff while the rest of us turned and looted the chest

Holy kitten, I did this four or five times yesterday and each time my wife fell to her death howeling like a banshee that the Mad King was the biggest kitten of the kitten.

I do this all the time… hehe Ya, just gotta wait for the perfect moment… I often use my pet do it though. Then if anyone notices I just say kitten pet… you can never control it! hehe

Had three users run off the edge as well.

I kill scarecrows but don’t break fears, I stay out of the red zone on my engineer and my guardian I leap in and kill it in like two hits.

I can’t say I see the humour in this. I think I’ve done it accidentally once, but never on purpose.

It’s nothing more than an inconvenience, but it does slow things down and causes unnecessary frustration. I’m glad I haven’t run into people like you in PUGs yet.

And here I was blaming the Mad King for the fears.

I do that, I’d feel bad if it wasn’t so funny.

I did manage to hold off on doing it once when my entire team were in the perfect spot for all four of them being feared off the edge, only reason I didn’t do it was because I was in a rush and wanted to get the boss down, would have been hilarious though.

I would, but I’m the sort of guy that uses aoe swiftness on his friends to cause an overshoot on jumping puzzles, especially funny when it’s from a great height.

My whole group is guilty of fearing us off the edge; however only I was ever guilty of fearing a teammate off after we finished MK and were brawling on the platform with the chest… OOPS! XD (Mad King town clothes)

And people wonder why pugs get a bad reputation.

Well I learned you can use the waypoint when you get feared off before you hit the ground. Just faster way to get back, and pretty sure falling death doesn’t damage gear. I could be wrong.

But I try not to kill the scarecrows past the first and 2nd floor. First floor is walled so its pretty safe. Second floor is big enough and pretty hard to get near an edge but its still dangerous. Third floor, fear = death more then likely.

But I’ve also been feared when standing on the last ledge to jump onto the third. Someone snipes the scarecrow and you still get feared. >.<

I’d rather just deal with the crows and move out of the spot then to deal with the fear. But with a lot of attacks being aoes you can mistakenly kill a scarecrow pretty quick.

I only do it in guild runs as I never PUG, but I wonder what you consider griefing about this subject? You do not even lose a copper over it. I think people should try to lighten up and have a laugh while playing a game.

I use my aoe condition removal to make sure we don’t fall off.

So it’s the scarecrow who feared me, not the MK. I keep wondering why I was the only one who was feared to death in many runs and got mad all the time :p. Because I usually melee the boss near the edge and people feared me off cliff.

The best time I’ve done this? Mad King set a scarecrow @ where the chest spawns just before dying. So, I quickly destroyed it just as my team was trying to loot said chest. HAHAHA! Boy, where they ticked off.

(and btw… if any of you briliant developers ever think of a towerclock like thingy underwater I’m just gonna go and play WoW)
