Never could find the desire to run around in circles getting irritated like half the forum folks. About all I did was mow down 150 candy corn to get ill after opening 20 BLC and seeing nothing.

Anyone else take a pass?

A lot of people skipped the jumping puzzle, yes.

So they did all the many other halloween events instead.

I did it all and some things more than once.
I’m enjoying it – even with some towerfrustrations

I passed on the gambling game with the chests, but so far, I’ve done everything else and loving it ^^

Not done much chest opening… most of what I’ve done so far is achievement-based – half the required pumpkins and the jump puzzle is all I need to do there. Oh, and attend the party, like everyone else :P

I did spend a bit longer than I liked trying to get into MK’s realm, this morning and last night, but now I’m there I’ll stay until I complete/get fed up of the clock tower

Nope! I’m trying to get everything, although I’m not too interested in the pumpkin carving. I only have about 90 out of the 150, but I’m not really worried about it.

After completing the tower, which took forever btw, I’ve done it an additional 7 more times (4 in a row at one point). It’s a lot more fun once the pressure is off.

Not at all. I’ve done everything except the clock tower (and still intend to do that, just haven’t finished it). Absolutely loving it.

It was fun, I did a few things. I’m short around 60 or 70 pumpkins for my carving achievement, and I think I’ll skip it. Too many pumpkins. I farmed doors, I farmed in the labyrinth a bit (the drop rate with magic find was really nice.) I did MK a few times.

So far the only thing that’s upsetting me is there’s very little to show for my participation so far. I was really hoping for some armor and weapon skins, but alas they are a gamble in chests. Then again the event isn’t over yet, so maybe I’ll still get lucky or they’ll add something. At least I have my flaming book.

Gave up on the puzzle and I’m not a gambler, so no chests for me!

I did everything lol. Crazy fun!

I didn’t really know about the event as I’m just getting into the game and still only in the Nord starting area.

Tried a random event game though but didn’t understand it and left.

Guess that’s it for this year’s Halloween event…

I have been able to complete all of the events. There was a time when I though I would no get enough bags to open for the achievement, but to my good luck I got enough drops to make it. But the hardest one would have to be the jumpin puzzle. I was almost about to give up on it, but the planets aligned and I finally got it, when I was at the top I got I got a pop up asking if I wanted to move to the main server from the overflow, wasn’t a hard choice. Took me about 4 hours but I finally got it

Done everything, except the Clock Tower, I am no good at jumping puzzles. Once I feel I need a break from the new pvp, I will attempt the Clock Tower, while drinking lots of beer.. that way when I fail, I will at least find it amusing!

Done everything but the Black Lion Chests.

The only thing I really made a point of doing was getting the 2 books. I did get the pumpkin carver title without really trying for it.

I thoroughly enjoy all of the halloween event. I’m not a gambler though so I only opened 2 BLC with keys I got from completing 2 low level maps on an alt and I had the luck (none) I expected so I shrugged and continued to enjoy the party.

I skipped basically everything. Anything I got was by accident. The only thing I deliberately did was mine candy corn to sell on the TP while the prices and demand were still good.

Pass on the puzzle and the chests (opened a few), pass on grinding the dungeons and labyrinth, also not a big PvP fan so pass on those maps after the first time, but for the rest I enjoyed it.

No, I wanted to give Anet the benefit of the doubt, so I tried everything but the PvP and Jumping puzzles (I do not enjoy either of those in any game). But after trying the remainder of the events and seeing the frustrating nature of the events, the crappy rewards vs time spent, the miniscule drop rates for event-related items (got to preserve that artificial scarcity so TP moguls can flip them), I plan to give all future events a miss… NOT worth the time spent or the frustration generated, IMO.

That’s how casinos operate… And I fully expect I’ll get suspended for this… again.. lol.
Anet operates like a true asian child company. Censorship is a must!
I’d rather bash my head on the wall then gamble. Seems to me about as productive and fun.

I did everything at least once and spent about 15 minutes on the clock tower, which obviously wasn’t enough but I didn’t enjoy it so moved on.

I am generally not a fan of RL holidays and events celebrated in fantasy games, even if they are twisted to fit into whatever game world. I would enjoy some unique game events and holidays not tied to RL ones. Having Halloween related things detracts from the immersion for me but I realise very few people care much about the story, theme or whatever.

I think the clock tower stuck out in terms of difficulty, given the rest of the event you could do in a coma, the clock tower had some kind of absurd difficulty ramping. I would have preferred if it was tuned down a little and everything else tuned up, a lot.

I’m still not sure why people get flustered about tower so much. Spent ~30mins raging at it first. Since im necro with everything broken and no passive speed naturally(hell even mad kings outfit for which i payed is broken for necromancer only)… but after I did it I ended up farming it for about an hour or so for bags… did 30? runs… then I got bored doing blind jumping with all the blasted norns and charrs and considering regular bags are a waste of time. I left and didn’t feel any inclination to ever go back to it.
But fact is its doable even on necro ~_~. For classes that can get speed buff… should be cake walk.

When I bought the Ghastly shield skin, I thought I was over the event. I got what I wanted out of it. But I finished the clock tower. And finished some events/achievements in labyrinth. Now I’m 1-2 pumpkins away from a master carver title! :O Now I’m 3 days further from my legendary!

@penatbater gratz on the ghastly shield that’s the one item I really wanted though I would have been pretty stoked if I could get a perm version of the crossing too.

I found this whole event super confusing. The mail they sent didn’t help either. If your event is going to have a bajillion things going on, you need to make sure people understand what they are.

Then I opened one door and got teleported to a random place, where I talked to some guy who put me in a maze where people tried to kill me and I had no skills. Wow, that was some fun.

The landscape events for Halloween are much harder than other events of their level too. All in all, I can’t wait for this event to be over.

I think this event was like a buffet. Maybe the Halloween buffet wasn’t to your taste. I don’t like seafood, so I’d probably just eat bread if it were a seafood buffet.

Point being, I decided I needed the Superior Rune of the Mad King recipe, so I bought it off the trading post and farmed mats to craft it so I can continue to profit after the event is gone. But I’m never going to finish that jumping puzzle. And I didn’t get into the Lunatic game. The Mad King dungeon was fun and innovative for all the platform jumping between phases.

Take what you enjoy from the game. If this event didn’t do it for you maybe are a future event will.

Skip holiday events, are you insane? Holiday events are the perfect break from the mundane repetition that is average game play. I find when I cant have fun in events I’m usually pretty close to quitting for good.

I finished my monthly and killed the mad king a few times for some worthless blues, other than that the rest if it seemed pretty stupid.

One thing I think they could do better for next time is directing players on the event.

It doesn’t really matter to me. I end up just googling what information I need regardless, but for many I’m sure it’s a turn off having to go outside the game to figure out what it is they’re supposed to be doing or where to go.

I did the ghost hunt, and killed the mad cow, once. Ran around the labyrinth for a while, until I was dead sick of killing candy corn bosses. So, didn’t do everything, and hate the idea of farming any of it repeatedly, but didn’t exactly pass on it, either.

Actually, I went off to Orr last night, and realized I just hate it too much. The holiday stuff is at least a good break from “the rest of the game.”

I can’t jump at the best of time and so I didn’t do the jumping puzzle. But I did everything else!

Done everything waiting for the last one now to attend the party,
i would never miss a special event achivment thats just once a year :P

BUT Lots of my friends skipped the clock tower

I’ll be passing on the Oct 31st event, have done the others , because it looks like it will either be during US worktime , or early in evening when kids are trick or treating. Apparently no one in the AN scheduling department has small children.

Would have liked to have seen it , but taking the little ones trick or treating trumps any video game activities.

Necros have a speed buff, 10-15% in Blood, the trait that grants you movespeed if you’re using a dagger. unless that one doesn’t work? But regardless it’s very very doable at base movespeed. I’ve been doing it over and over on my necro and only my necro, without those traits even. I’ve been doing it because it’s fun

Otherwise I’ve been doing mad king runs a lot now trying to get some of the good loot, but now been spending a lot of time in the PvP minigames stomping people who don’t understand the objectives >_> It’s a great event though loaded with content for everyone.

I started off with just a passing interest but now I’m really gunning to do everything. I’ve never seen anything like it, so much effort has been put into this I still can’t blv it.

It took a while to do the tower but once your done it feels brilliant.

But, like everything in life you can’t cater for every person. Most people love it but some just don’t care, that’s the way it is

They of course haven’t succeeded in catering to every person, but given the variety of PvP, Low level PvE, higher level PvE, fun activities, puzzles, story driven events and fun items, they’ve definitely tried to cater to everyone!

I’m sure they’ve learned a lot from this on how to make everyone happier next time around too.

I Think I’ve done everything there is to during the event up until now. Except for the crafting and the Mini Dungeon (Which I’m not sure if permanent or not), I even spent some doskittens, but no results. I also got a Mad Moon Shield from the dungeon.

Nope! I’ve done everything so far and really enjoying it.

Well I did TONS on the first couple days. Afterwards thought the second phase sounded uninteresting so I missed that, I’m not one for tedious jump puzzles. When the third phase came around I had work for the “special one time only event!” so I haven’t bothered logging in since out of annoyance. Shame too, cause the third phase sounds fun, I might check it later.

Really enjoyed the bits I’ve done but not really taken it too seriously. Only been at GW2 for the last couple of weeks and so Halloween has been a nice distraction while getting on with the task of leveling a Sylvari Ele. Had a bounce on the tower and couldn’t be bothered, ToT’d a few doors, hacked a few pumpkins but gave up, did the first round of book quests but no more.

The only thing I did do was to get lucky in the BLC stakes. Only opened up three or four I think while I was leveling but ended up with a chain sword which was promptly sold on the BLTC once I had enough g to list it! Really sorry to all those who wanted one but missed out as they seem so hard to come by, but I now have more g than I actually know what to do with considering the time I’ve been playing.

So overall I have enjoyed Halloween despite not really taking an active part….

Did the scavenger hunt and the clock tower as well as tried out the different activities, such as the labyrinth and dungeon. Other than tagging along whenever someone invited me, I haven’t really been compelled to participate and have been a bit disappointed as well as some others I know. Not sure what it is because I know many people enjoy it and ANet put a lot of effort into it but I’m not as excited as when the holidays came in GW1. Hopefully Christmas and New Years will bring a different feel and I can’t wait until then.

Did everything possible for event. Starting with costume brawl, which is extremely entertaining and I’m glad they made costumes and tonics have purpose beyond looks. Got the scavenger books on all my alts. Farmed 2 Mad King pieces in Lab. Battled Clocktower for 2-3 hours: Getting to top first time was quite an adrenaline rush. .-. Had fun in both pvp mini-games, and did new instance a buncha times…
Only bought 1 key, wasn’t going too deep in that area. Pretty much enjoyed everything, even got one rare weapon~ didn’t expect to get any of them tbh.

I did it all.

Tower puzzle of EPIC frustration on all 8 of my characters.

Farmed the Tower for a bit, waiting for part 4 tomorrow I may farm some more tonight.

It pays off when you see someone dodge roll off the last jump

I’ve done it all so far and don’t regret any of it. I spent my $10 on keys and didn’t get anything, but then I wasn’t expecting anything either (even with a 90% chance I’d still miss…)

I don’t really understand all the people wanting super epic awesome stuff, it’s an event for a short period of time. Just enjoy a break from grinding out maps and Orr. WELL at least for ME it’s a break from all that and I fully intend to fully participate in all other events if they’re anything close to the content this one provided (lack of interest in areas of a game do not mean they don’t exist, so if you don’t enjoy simple scavenging hunts, farming, pvp or jumping puzzles, then I’m not sure what else you want to do…map?)
