There is a 24 hour time limit in effect now. You can run it as often as you want, the chest simply won’t open. If it won’t open period, that’s a bug, unfortunately.

Good luck trying to get the rest of the Mad King Set with this BS restriction. 24 hr limit is a complete joke!

Enjoy the holiday event! Maybe they will have an actual fix today, instead of an “oh @#$%” patch.

Cause you know Anet , they add something that people can exploit , then they nerf it to the ground so nobody does it anymore.

Only reason i spent little time there was to get the 10 events , which i used overflow anyway. Cause you use what you can , while you can in this game.

Source? That seems to be pure player speculation. Since many people had it glitched the first time they opened it and yesterday…

I saw no need for an adjustment, I was in the labyrinth for a few hours and it was fun. I was able to get 3 exotics, non of them any use, and non of the mad king’s set. Now I have a small chance at a useless exotic once a day?

Err… well if you don’t believe anyone on the forum, I suppose you can go run it a few times yourself?

Some reported corns repeating it, after you got the mad king boots.
Now people is not even going inside at all lol.
All chest are back to the nothing loot table, champions too, green/blue trash

what chests? I have been to every corner of the place and haven’t spotted one.

How are we supposed to collect the set with a restriction such as this? I looted the chest and didn’t even get a mad king piece of armor either lmao… i got some kinda lvl 76 exotic trident that blows.

Killed the champion again, tried to loot chest. INSERT TROLL .JPG yeah, couldn’t loot the chest.

I’m from Europe so missed out on the pre-hotfix fun… Thing is I don’t mind making the drops rarer and hard to find but limiting me to one of each chest per day seems like taking away any chance to get anything good, my 2 chests today I got nothing good and this event is only on for a few days, Part 3 starts tomorrow so all i got from part 2 was those crappy teeth… (that should be a Mad King event t-shirt) I am going to go and do the scavenger hunt part 2.

Final note for Anet, I am a casual player and what I mostly see on here is casual players complaining… thing is I am happy to find very little loot in chests as long as there is a chance I might find something good, and that on occasion I am rewarded.. but I want to keep looking, not get limited because a group of exploiters took advantage of a flaw in your original plans… cut down the Exotics but let us loot more for the chance of cosmetics and stuff….

They seem to have nerfed both the loot AND the timer. One was needed, but both was excessive. I’d be happy if I could at least loot the chest again with a very small chance for another mad king’s set, but mostly candy corn and stuff otherwise. Not being able to loot it at all really sucks.

Did it today and couldn’t anymore. No exotics earned either, just a green heavy armor leg piece and two ToT bags.
Mad king’s armor is heavy type so it can only be weared by soldier classes anyways so to hell with it.

They seem determined to nerf into the ground anything that might allow the common man a way to get good loot. Only people who noticed and farmed it for a few hours or whatever win in this game. Mind boggling.

The thing that annoys me most about the nerf, is the fact that for the entire duration of the event we won’t ber able to get as much as people did for the 1st 2 hours of the event (let alone what people managed to get in i think 6 hours).

In the 1st 2 hours you could loot 4 chests each hour (2 from each champion) and in each of those chests you got 4 items – that’s a total of 8 chests with 32 items.

Now you can only get 2 chests every 24 hours and each chest will only drop 2 items, now the event lasts until the 31st (i think) so that’s another 4 days – that’s a total of 8 chests with 16 drops.

I didn’t get home from work yesterday until after they had nerfed it down to two items per chest, and was only able to loot a single chest (with just 1 green item and a ToT bag) before the patch that caused all chests to be once a day only and also to be bugged so that the “once a day” doesn’t even work.

I really, really hope that anet will add some way for honest players to acquire the armor. Leaves a sour taste in your mouth knowing that the only ones who actually got it are the ones who managed to get lucky with the broken chests.

been like that every time. Happened with CoF, Arah, mystic forge. Ect ect ect.

At least they fixed this one relatively quickly…

I would just like to say that I can tolerate the “once a day” thing. I can see why they did it, BUT the fact that you have a pretty good chance of getting NOTHING of value that wouldn’t end up as vendor trash is what infuriates me the most.

I fight these champions expecting to get a unique Halloween recipe or equipment to commemorate the event since it only happens around a week of an entire year and what do I get…? Generic garbage I could get anywhere else at any time of the year.

you should fight them for fun..and a chance at something not a guarantee. Ive still had a blast with my guild and friends in these events, even though I havent gotten an exotic..exotic does not equal fun.

Well, lets see.

In Act 1, the only way you were able to get the set pieces was to open chests.
In Act 2, they gave one piece away for doing the jumping puzzle, and gave you a chest to open once a day for killing bosses.

We’ve two more acts people. Slow your roll.

Eh. They’ll patch in something nice, people will use it in a way not intended, and it will get taken out entirely before most people see it. And people using it in a way “not intended” will keep everything. It’s pretty much a pattern at this point. On the plus side, every extra person in Lion’s Arch is one more not underfoot as I try to get past Risen .

So the labyrinth is now mostly tricks with a rare treat thrown in..? I’m guessing the 24 hr timer is pr account and not character too? Because I could open the chest with my necro in the morning but not with my mesmer in the evening

Did it with my 8 characters, one exotic in 8 tries :p nerfing both loot and apparently putting a timer is excessive, quite unmotivating to do champion involved events since after all the trouble the loot is most likely junk that a random mob could’ve given you

Idea I had for this:

Keep it this way so no one can farm it if this is the intention, but make it 100% drops of a mad king armor piece.

This way you avoid what this kind of nerfs produces: most part of the riches divides between a very small percentage of “lucky” players.

You stop the exploits, but still everyone can try to get a piece of the armor, and there is still the RNG factor that keeps them from getting the pieces and category that they want, so it isn’t as if they were giving them their wanted armor piece.

The issue was that Exotics were dropping more often than not (and still weren’t Mad King pieces very often) and it was dropping the TP prices like a rock. It would’ve also floored the cost of Ecto’s as the Exotics you got weren’t usable fairly often so, Master Salvage = Ecto’s.

The first couple of Exotics I got when it went live were around 60 silver as their Order Value.. and by the time the patch hit they were down to half that. I got about 5-6 exotics between Phase 2 launching until the patch BUT I spent about 3 hours of that time on the Jumping Puzzle. I could’ve had a lot more Exotics had I just stayed and farmed.
