Are keys going to drop more or have other ways of getting them?
Or is this gem store only?

They drop but it is extremely rare. Easiest way is obviously gem store, but you can get lucky and get one in a chest itself, or sometimes for 100% an area, or from an extremely rare drop.

They are a rare drop/reward. Don’t look for that to change, Anet is trying to make $$$ off this event.

I got 12 keys in a row from chests once, then I’ve never seen a key ever again.

Lucky! My best lucky streak was 5 in a row.

Yeah, I had 3 in a row once. With 12, you should have played the lotto that day!

My best streak is two in a row, and I’ve probably opened 30 or so since the game started, and received something useful from three… I might buy keys for the halloween event, but until the BL chests stop giving crap I won’t be buying any during non-events. And now that i know events work this way, I’ll be saving mine up instead of using them to get the useless junk that the chests give during normal play.

The only place I ever got keys as a drop from monster was when defending CoF event. I got 2 in 30 min one day and then never again did it happen. Although, 2 in 30 was probably a chance in a million, who’s to say there is no extra chance to get them doing events.

Edit: was not wearing any Magic find either.

during this week i’ve gotten two keys one from WvW killing a player randomly and my alt ele got one from a mob in AC

I’ve gotten 2 keys as part of my story line and 2 while opening chests. I have almost 30 chests at this point. I’m beginning to think I’ll have to start another stack before I get a key that I don’t have to pay for.
Is there a ratio of key drops per chest drops? If so, what is it?

You’ll find about 100 chests before you find one key. (how the hell did that get bleeped out is beyond me)

I have over 100 chests and don’t bother to buy keys, I’d rather buy bank space, mini’s and dyes. So any chests I get now I just toss as they aren’t worth putting up on TP.

I have gotten a few keys from story. Chests don’t contain anything amazing anyway.

Oh man, they will be as people open them. They were around 26c last I saw & will go higher I bet.

Been playing lots daily since pre-launch, I’ve only gotten 4 keys, which were from the story and also given from inside chests I opened.

There is obviously a hidden Luck stat somewhere in the game that some of us rolled very high in.

I seem to get 10x as many chests as I do keys.

At least. The high drop rate is to incentive you to get more keys.

I’m getting tempted to buy some gems for keys with this event. My Necro needs Halloween daggers! xP
I’ll have to see if the craftable daggers look different than the chest skins.

Extremely rare is correct, I have played everyday since the head start and I hakitteny drop for me…. I have over 70 chests collecting dust waiting to be opened.

Mistake above^ I have had only 1 key drop since head start, and I play every day.

I knew I was subconciously saving up all my keys for a reason… lol

I plan to sell my chests during the event. They’re a waste of time and money. I’ve gotten two keys in a hundred and fifty hours of playing GW2.

I wish BL chests stopped giving transformation potions. I mean, c’mon…give the chests more useful loot and the sales for keys will go through the roof.
