Won’t be able to test this till I get home, but just had a random thought regarding the clock tower crowding issue / not being able to see your toon…

Your character’s position on your screen won’t change if you don’t change the zoom… So, cut a corner off of a post-it note and stick it right onto your screen at your toon’s feet; doesn’t matter how swarmed your toon is, you’ll always be able to see the post-it!

Won’t make the terrain more visible, but better than nothing.

What do you think?

I think people are complaining because they need a scape goat, not because they would actually do any better even in a solo instance.

Great idea. It still won’t fix how awful I am at jumping puzzles :P, but I think it will help me not lose track of myself.

Just type something in chat, it shows up right above your character. It helps you and hurts everyone else. It’s a win win situation.

How many post-its do we need to see the ground?

Lol, I actually have a small red dot painted on the middle of my monitor from the ol’ no-scope sniping days of yore.

It doesn’t help much for this because I always seem to move the mouse around and alter the zoom level while doing it

Unfortunately for me, if the camera hits a platform it zooms in. I would have appreciated a no clip camera, but w/e. I got it eventually.

If someone put a sticky note or a fingerprint on my monitor I WOULD KILL THEM! Creative idea though :-)

I placed a hair spray bottle in front of my monitor. The cap lined up with my character’s feet. The problem with this is that you still can’t see where you are jumping when a text bubble, Norn or griefing ranger pet blocks your view.

I’ve done the jump puzzle 3 times now. My best advice is to memorize the jumps so that you can do them without being able to see. Once you get past the start where people start falling off it becomes much easier.

I think ANet could improve the clock tower by removing the rising slime, allowing players to start at different times and adding an achievement for beating it in a certain amount of time. This way people can practice the jumps, people can stagger their start so that there isn’t a problem with blocking, and there is still something difficult to work for as an achievement.

like the post it note idea heh.

first:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Clocktower-Extended-guide/first#post591574
watch that vid, very good stuff.

second, try this.
you know when you climb the first set of stairs and have to wait for the rubble to fall? where everyone bunches up?
when the stuff falls, wait.
be the last guy to go and you can see everything. soon after that, most people fall and you are all by yourself.

granted if you wait too long, or get hung up along the way, you may get swallowed up by the slime..
the puzzle is frustrating i’ll agree, but once you do it onceā€¦ it gets a lot easier. and fun :P

Love the idea, never going to use it but it is clear people are just admiring their characters and if they dont see their character doing it by themselves they feel like they need to yell at everyone else. I had an asura tell me to stop running, and I’m a medium height skinny human! It’s ridiculous and I’m glad many people don’t think it’s “because that kitten charr” or “that kitten norn”.
