-*Buy only what you want to see more of*-
Remember when BLCs were worth like 3c on the trading post? Because everyone thought they were useless and didn’t want to buy or didn’t have keys to open them? And yet, even with that lack of demand for the item, ANet decides to introduce limited time items to them to explode demand.
So even if players demonstrated that they weren’t interested in these chests, ANet would find some way to make players interested rather than scrap the gamble.
Activities are dead.

You cannot give in on your values, simply don’t buy anything thats a gamble, and instead buy something that is direct purchase.
@OP
There will always be people who gamble and I have no problem allowing them their fun/vice. I have played games where that is big business, but those returns usually net the gamblers more than they pay, not less. Which is why they do it. Usually the items are 100% tradable. Currently too many items from the chests are account bound.
Also,most of those games don’t have the good reputation Anet has. This is why there is a problem. The money people Nexon look at their crappy game and say this works and don’t see how it could affect the reputation and mechanics of GW2.
