Charr are preventing me from completing the jumping puzzle. Can I report them for griefing?

No way to report griefing. Also, I think it’s part of the design of the puzzle. Apparently you can get into other instances, so some people just keep going until they hit an instance with few if any of the large races.

Make a bigger character if your little guy can’t see over my Charr.

Don’t blame the charr for your lack of skill.

I find the Norn to be more annoying since they run upright.

The jumping puzzle IS in fact 10x easier without any Charrs, and that is undeniable (except if you are a charr).
But it’s not their fault to be so fat :T
A-net should have made the other players invisible or something like that to prevent this problem.

It’s called fake difficulty, and its just bad game design.

The puzzle is hard for all the wrong reasons.

You just need to get in front of them… Its true that Char make it very hard to complete if you are “inside” of them (anyone who denies that this make it hard is crazy). The solution is to win the race, get out in front of the pack and they are not a problem. I think it was designed to be a race, hence an instance of ten.

Ditto. I was helping teach my guildmates the puzzle last night (2 norn and a charr, lol), my own character is an asura mesmer, and I finished it 6 or 7 times before they finally got it down.

You don’t NEED to see where you are landing, speed games like this are all about looking where you are going to be in 5 or 6 seconds time and planning ahead. if you don’t your probably won’t make it fast enough anyway

Well while i understand your pain (one of my chars is an asura and i also completed with her) , the result of reporting all chars for grief will be a 3 days ban most likely.

After the first few jumps , most of the player die. Just memorize the first few jumps and after that you can enjoy a charr free run.

The only reason i argue that it isn’t too hard is because i enjoyed the challenge and don’t want Anet to think it’s far too difficult and return to making easy jump puzzles. If anything they should make more than one for events so people can choose how difficult they want to have it.

I understand, and I do enjoy hard puzzles on the game as well, but as Swizzle said, the Charrs and Norns blocking the view are just fake dificulty, a flawed design. I have no complains about the timer or the hard jumps on the puzzle.

On what parameters are you guys differentiating between ‘true’ and ‘fake’ difficulty. Because most of the time it tends to be the hard jumps are fine because I can do them —> true difficulty

If you get annoyed by other players, you can easily afford to wait half a second. There is lots of margin in the jumple puzzle.

Try to do it with a Norn or a Charr, believe me it’s still hard. There’s a reason Charr and Norn tend to die in the first part of this puzzle.

As annoying as some of the large character models are, no. Can I report you for harassment instead?

If you are going fast enough to make it, other player’s models are not really a problem, so just work on learning the first 10s of the puzzle after the wall breaks. Once you get that down you will be alone 90% of the time and the puzzle becomes less frantic.

I finished it the first time on my asura, and my norn wasn’t really any different, easier or harder.

I’m sure there are a lot of responses that are insulting you and not seeing the humor in your question. I thought it was very amusing and wish you the best of luck in beating the JP.

yes you can report them for griefing. Just use the report feature in game.

Aren’t you asking if any moderator at all would take you just the first bit serious?

The answer to that is slightly different than what I typed above, as you would have guessed yourself.

All the problems people seem to have with others blocking their view, I just haven’t had. Not that I claim they don’t exist, but I’ve been surprised it’s been such a key issue rather than people complaining about general difficulty/speed necessary to complete the tower.

I just run the beginning of the run extremely aggressively. Either I take a small lead and keep it (and if I fall, has nothing to do with the others) or people are spaced out a little, whichever. In either case people standing on me just hasn’t ever really been a problem. You need to run it aggressively anyway in order to have enough time to fall onto that platform in the last portion of the run and be able to stand up and continue before the mists gets you.

This isn’t a matter of me running it a million times and now being so good at it that I just blow past everyone or something, that’s just how I started running it after I was comfortable with the first 1/3 of the course.

As a Charr I only have one thing to all you Asura who keep complaining to us:
Grow up.

I’ve completed the puzzle with three characters a norn, a charr, and a asura.
I have to say the easiest was the Asura, it felt like there was a lot more leeway given in my jumps. My winning run I flubbed at least 5 jumps and landed on “edges” that should have had me in the green goo. Some of the “edges” looked more like air than actual platform. Maybe the pack part is the rougher part of the run but the platforming was much easier.
As the larger characters the platforms were felt significantly less forgiving to jumping mistakes.

After i made it with my human i tried with my asura.
Theres was chars and norns in the run but i managed to do it at the first try.
I even find it easier to do with asura because of the way they move.

So yeah you guys are just unskilled, if you cant do it just give up and stop complaining.

Before I am called a baddie, I have beat the puzzle and it was very frustrating. Not sure why this was a group event and not a single player instance. If there was no one else in the puzzle or only people I was grouped with it would be so much easier.

Blame others for your own failure, it’s the American way.

You can’t report someone for griefing based on their choice of race. Only if you have definite proof that they are intentionally trying to get you to fail can it be considered griefing.

For instance, a giant Norn warrior in even more gigantic armor standing in front of the group with a banner in his hand; giving the group a speedboost just so they overshoot the platforms and have to do it over again. That’s griefing.

Thankfully, ANet’s latest hotfix seems to remove any and all equipped weapons; including summoned grief-banners.

You’re coming up with some theoretical scenario but I promise you if you learn to do the first part quickly, you will very very very rarely have more than one or two other people jumping with you. Usually it will just be you. If you are in some troll instance where thirty enormous norn with speed buffs are blocking you then leave and come back to a different instance.

If you do not learn to do the first part quickly you are not going to make it to the end anyway.

I finished the puzzle on my Charr, then went on my Human to see what all the fuss was about and finished the puzzle on my fifth try. There were three Charr in that map, and at no point did a Charr cause me to fall.

This depends on the class. I know that elementalists with a One with Air trait still work. They have the option of being out in front. (I think there are other classes with movement traits that stay. )
Also the grouping moment, after the initial flights of stairs, the platform are useable moments before the blocks are in place. You can do the leaps of faith if you know where the platforms should be and time it right. It normally places you in front of or in a far smaller pack.
