This is just a post to hopefully make sure you keep the Jumping puzzle Clock tower as it is. Difficulty is fine.. plenty of people have done it. So what if some peopel cant manage it.. its an achievment afterall.
please ..leave it be
If you do end up making it easier ..make a new achievment ..and change the current one to a legacy achievment or visa versa ..for those who have already done it. Otherwise it means nout.
This puzzle was so fun once i finally got the hang of it. Beat it 7 times after the initial success. Heck, it was even fun when i failed so many times because i got better each time and the scenery was awesome.
It’s only frustrating b/c o0f the number of people in the instance. Drop the instance size to 4-5 and it’ll be much more fun.
i tried 4 hours, practices really help and i felt worth it. so i voting for unchange. however do something about the invisible wall.
Yeah I think it should be left as is. However they should either make it a solo instance or make other’s invisible.
Other player models can make it a miserable experience.
Did it in just under 2 hours.
It could be tweaked a little I guess, but I had no regrets when I finally made it.
And you felt this needed another thread why? I would guess the ratio for it as it is is about 4% with 96% saying it is not fun.
It’s extremely difficult due to camera troubles and other people just being in the way. Making it solo would actually solve most problems people are having.
Yes, leave it as is. Took a little while to get it, but was fun in the process.
One of the most satisfying accomplishments I’ve had yet. Leave it as is. I can’t believe people are really complaining about not being able to do something that has only been out for a few hours.
Beat it 10 times in a row just for the fun. Met some amazing people while trying to beat it (we failed for 2 hours), but once we did, it just felt awesome, and so easy.
/E:
Making it solo would take away 90 % of the fun.
I did it with some strangers from different servers in the overflow, and it was one of the best times i had in GW 2 so far (playing since first BWE).
And yes, we really needed 2 hours to beat it for the first time (and except me and one asura we all where charrs and norns btw).
(edited by Asum.4960)
get rid of the cutscene please…i can’t even start the puzzle because it locks me in the cutscene mode
It’s a “mad” clocktower with a mad dash. At first I cursed the charrs and norns for being so fatty. After lots of practice I realized it’s totally doable despite that.
Join a group of asuras, finish it >50% of the times. Join a group with a couple of charr or norn, die again and again and again becuase you can’t even see your own character (let alone the place you’re supposed to jump to).
Looks like Arena Net tested this solo (probably with a human or sylvari – the asura camera bounces all over the place) and then decided to throw a bunch of wardrobe-sized charr and norn in front of you (not to mention pop-ups asking you if you want to travel out of overflow in the middle of the puzzle). Because more crap covering the middle of your screen makes things more fun, right?
Right…?
The clock tower is fun! haters gonna hate.

Exactly. The puzzle itself isn’t too daunting its just compounded a hundred times over by the amount of people there. I could maybe even tolerate the amount of people if everyone was made the same size or if the camera didn’t zoom in because of the person standing right in front of me. make it instanced or at least reduce the amount of people in a room at a given time.
6 hours… still failing…
Completed almost every other puzzle…
This is rubbish. Those defending completed and are bias.
Just match asurans with asurans and charrs with charrs, or something, its so stressful that you cant see your character the first 20% of the puzzle.
Or make it solo, speed is okay, just make it somehow possible to see our characters
It took me and hour to complete. You just have to play smart! Learn from your mistakes. Jump at the END of platforms so you have the maximum jump range possible. Jump for the lowest points of platforms to ensure you land. Learn your routes and STICK TO THEM! Find a route that works and keep working at it. Don’t try random routes every time or you’ll just end up dying over and over again. And most of all, “nothing ventured nothing gained”, it’s a game, you don’t have to be afraid of dying. JUST JUMP!
I don’t care if there’s other people. I just want to see something else other than the floor half of the time.
Other people running around affected me a little at the start, but now I know wher things are after over 200 tries.
But the problem is still the camera. Half of the time it zooms to the floor and won’t change no matter how much – and sometimes where – I move the camera.
After 2 hours of trying, dying, and raging I got it and then again. Big toons do suck to jump with but once muscle memory sets in it’s fine. This is how gaming felt years ago. God it was great.
At first I also found it annoying, but after a while it became extreamly fun. Most likelly because many people left the overflow I was the entire time and we where 5 persons atempting it.
If there is something to bechanged, is to redused the max people in this instanced area to 5…
BTW where is the rest of mad king’s set?

Those complaining are rubbish and biased.
the only people enjoying it with others are probably huge norn or charr using banners to obstruct view and confuse player speeds.
I want them to make it at least soloable so I can measure my skill instead of being annoyed by all these griefers.
dicks
I was getting further and further when I managed to get in to an instance with only one other person. Now I’m back to “can’t see where I’m going”
It’s a bit annoying in the beginning but once you get it it’s pretty easy. I managed to do it on my 7th or 8th try I think.. so it took me around 30 mins…

This might work, if only i was able to see where i am and where i am going.
Does anyone remember when dungeons first came out?
OMG DUNGEONS TOO HARD, NERF DUNGEONS!
Now, everyone is ok with this, they’ve mastered the dungeons; the same applies here folks. Practice makes perfect. Short of having some form of disability or physical impairment there is no excuse for not being able to master it with patience and practice.
If you do have an impairment though, you have my sympathy with not being able to properly enjoy what is an entertaining and exciting jumping puzzle.
Big thing that’s not fun is staring at the waiting bar before you’re told you’re allowed to play.

100% this.
I can’t see where I’m going. Everyone is in the way.
As an Asura who completed it, this puzzle does need a serious change. I had to predict where my character was most of the jumps because I could not see my character at all. If it wasent for the fact that our party only had 1 charr which died early, I probably still wouldent had beaten it.
Either make it instanced or make everyone the same size.
I just wanted to put my vote in for leaving as is. Yes, it took me a long time to do it. Yes, I got frustrated. But when I broke through the top, angels sang in heaven and I really really enjoyed the accomplishment.
It IS doable, HARD, but doable.
My suggestions would be to reduce the lobby wait time and make everyone the same size.
I suppose removing the wait section at the start of the puzzle would work as well instead of changing sizes That’s the absolute worst part since everyone is on top of each other and you have to jump on some really painful sections with little bumps that can stop your char or kill your momentum. Not being able to see exactly where you are going to land because everyone is on top of each other is the most frustrating part.
When I went to repeat the clocktower puzzle to see what the chest would give I ended up in a ‘lobby’ with a char. The first time I learned it there were no charr in my group but even though I already learned and completed it I had a rough time due to the chars being so wide AND long(due to running with all fours). I made a remark about charrs making the puzzle hard mode and he left and it was actually a lot easier to do the start.

Very good puzzle.
Instance size needs to be limited OR other characters need to be invisible/see through
OR turn us all into human esque character models (ascalon ghosts or something)
Doing as an asura now. Norn and ESPECIALLY charr make it stupid hard for me compared to my human.

It doesn’t need a nerf, it needs to be changed so that people can see where they are going by… letting people do it solo. I was nearly to the end before the server went down because I was by myself.
No idea how I got that way.
Now I’m back to failing because I can’t see.
Leave it as it is. Most fun ive ever had on this game and doable if you put in the time.
Well if visibility is the issue maybe they should turn everyone into plastic spiders or something thematiclly appropriate that is also small and inoffensive.
I can make it to the half-way point consistently, but every – single – time, the acid is already rising up over the platform. At this point, there’s nothing I can do.
“Leave it is as it is because I feel special for having done it! Don’t make it so people can actually get it done!”
Yes, yes, we’re all very proud of you. As stated quit sitting around saying that because the visibility issue wasn’t a problem for you then it shouldn’t be a problem for anyone else.
Failed it for hours but stuck at it. Completed it 7 times now, I didn’t feel like a lot of people being there changed a kitten thing. Love the puzzle as is, it would be a shame to nerf it or make an easy mode. Yeah it’s really tough but it’s a much better sense of achievement when you finally do it.
Imagine a dart game.
Half the people get their eyes poked out with a spoon. A rusty teaspoon.
Now imagine that half complaining about heir eyes being poked out.
Post like this are the other half, being fine with their eyes not being poked out, and hitting bullseye after some tries…
And a few guys with the eyes poked out being fine with it after hitting bullseye by sheer chance.
And some that didn’t hit bullseye at all, but want to piss off those hurting from the eye-poking.
And even some that were even playing at all.
If controls, camera, visibility, lag, design faults, accessibility or other issues do not affect you, well, good for you.
That doesn’t mean the existing problems should not be addressed.

I don’t think this is how Holiday events should be. Feel free to put this in the game permanently but for a holiday event I just want to have fun. It should be about the experience and holiday loot, not challenging with rare loot in chests ect. I really hope A.Net takes a hard look at how the event went over and learns something about it.
No reason to have people not enjoying events.
the only change this needs is to be removed as a group event and make it solo. The speed and dificulty are just fine and challenging. Puting 4 fat kitten norn or charr on my baby asura is NOT fine.
Worst thing for me right now is the wait to get in.
I basically agree with everything Tenicord said, this should be less difficult because this is a holiday jp, make a perm jp that is this difficult and timed or whatever, but as a holiday event this just isn’t really in the spirit.
I cant make it.. Ive been trying for 5hrs straight now.. 5hrs! I just want my achievement
Its fun, I want it to be left as is too o3o
Finished it on 8 characters.
My only recommendation is allow more people to load in off the cut scene, I’ve seen numerous people sitting there in the video sequence still as the event starts. Give another 5 seconds or so before the creeping energies start to climb from below so the folks with slower computers stand a chance and can make the run to the first platform.
Other than that, this was a treat of a puzzle and a good pain in the kitten to figure out.
Keep em comin!
I really enjoy how we go in a group it just makes it so much funner!

I know right. Repeatting it over and over solo til you master it is just repetition, trying muddle through it with a dozen other guys and laughing about it afterwards is half the experience IMO xD
