Clock Tower--My FUN 5 hour experience
I’m glad you didnt quit and finally got it! it was fun exactly as you described with other people who were still there hours in with me xD there was one group full of people who were grieving on purpose but once I landed in a nice group like the one you described, it was alot of fun and the tower experience itself was amazing!
And difficult doesnt mean impossible, people quitting and getting frustrated just because they cant do it is no reason to nerf something as amazing as this! I hope they add in a option of difficulty at penalty of reward…that way as long as the complainers get to complete it “somehow” they shouldnt flame these events so much
Incredibly fun. It’s one of the few things I’ve done in this game where people actually talk during it (well, in between rounds).
I am right there with you and would like to encourage anyone who is at that multi-hour mark to NOT GIVE UP! I am not good with jumping puzzles and am far from a reflex gamer, and after two hours of trying I was about ready to give up then, but then I took a break and came back and gave it another try. After about six hours of work, I finally reached the top.
This puzzle, while fast, does not have to be about reflexes at all. It is about memorizing a pattern of movements. Over time, you become faster at it just naturally by moving by instinct instead of by looking at the puzzle and reacting to the next jump. It is by no means easy (I have anxiety issues and get dizzy playing this game, and have even had a panic attack in Obsidian Sanctum) but it can be done by almost anyone through perseverance and practice.
I am so proud of myself for reaching the top right now. I shrieked with delight when I got there. My husband is looking at me strangely (he gave up a while ago!) but it is worth it.
I can understand the frustration. After my first hour I was ready to throw something against the wall.
However… after a few drinks and taking a costume in to kill the waiting time (Mad King jokes are the best) I just lightened up and let it flow. FINALLY finishing it.
I found that the speed boosts helped a LOT, but I think I could have probably done without it as well (it just helps on those longer areas you have to run to gain a bit more time)
But yeah… COMPLETELY understand the rage, but I love a challenge and WOW…that feeling when you finish is amazing. I’m surprised I didn’t wake my boyfriend (who had to be at work tomorrow at 6 am) up. Oopsie.
I too had a great group. There was this max-sized Norn who was really getting in the way but we were just making diet jokes about him. You eventually learn to adapt to the cluster!@#$ at the start. It was good spirited and fun and I can safely say the clock tower is the best thing about the halloween event so far.
I can not believe all the rage about this clock tower. Honestly. I had so much fun talking with others after each trial, and how we suck, or how awesome we did, or how we felt we were getting worse. We were picking on the Norn for being huge and in the way, they were calling us shorties, we were dancing, we were rooting other people on.
Maybe I just got lucky ankittenep getting into good groups, but this was so much fun!! I plan on doing it again and again just for the social aspect of it. This is by far the best experience I’ve had for the Halloween event. Thank you so much Anet.
Please, don’t listen to the complainers. It does take a long time to complete, but so does grinding and dungeons (which are a lot less fun) and a lot of practice to complete this OPTIONAL puzzle but that’s what makes it fun. I was happy to have spent my night doing this rather than finishing it within an hour and running off to grind or find something else to do.

Absolutely agree, 90% of the fun and wanting to keep trying was enjoying the laughing and raging of my fellow players. Then getting excited for folks when they finally got it. I had to take many smoke/rage breaks but it was fun none the less. Bravo Anet
The puzzle itself is not hard, the problem most people are having with it is the camera being screwed up all over.Being a charr this is a common problem, and I think norn too. Also another big problem is the collision boxes with both big characters and the level itself, making it frustratingly difficult to tell where you exactly are
