Clocktower, I'll miss you
Yes the jumping puzzle was one of the few aspects of the Halloween event that I disagreed with the complainers. Looking forward to seeing it next year. Hopefully they will spend a little time on it and fix the couple of weird facings and other geometry sketchyness that send you flying off the map.
I will miss it too. Please leave in a door to the clocktower somewhere!
I bid a fond farewell to Halloween and the clock tower in particular :’(

Sigh… I was SO close to completing it with gem store window.
Well… Guess, until next time.
Personally, I hate jumping quest/puzzles. I didn’t do the Clocktower.
But I was watching over my wife’s shoulder when she attempts it, and I must say I’m blown away by the thoughts and effort being put into creating this piece of puzzle. I have never seen anything like this in other MMO.
So, kudos to the Halloween Team for dreaming this up. For the record, I still hate jumping quest/puzzle and has no plan doing any of them! :P
I will sorely miss the Clock Tower. It was amazing visually, and a ton of fun (for me, anyway). While I didn’t do any rediculous challenges like you did TC, I sure as heck enjoyed running it occassionally over the duration of the event on 4 different characters (didn’t do the 5th because she’s a Charr and I decided I’d spare all the whiners :p).
And today I ran it constantly and repeatedly over 3-4 hours (as an Asura) as my “send off” to my favorite part of the Halloween event. I didn’t actually intend to run it that long, I started running it expecting the patch to come and take it out, but the patch didn’t come as early as I expected and I never got bored of it so I just kept going.
I think I had probably 40+ successful runs of it by the end of it all. And like I said, still fun even then, and was still getting faster and learning new little tricks (like the fact that you can jump around that stupid block at the beginning and you can run from the platform to the small cog without jumping).
What saddens me perhaps even more than having the Clock Tower gone is the fact that with all the complaining about it, I fear we’ll never get another jumping event quite as intense and satisfying.
Fare thee well Clock Tower. I already miss you…

Bye bye…

Best Jumping Puzzle so far… I will miss it.
I’m gonna miss it too. A LOT, actually! I love that place and I too ran it successfully at least 20 times. It’s just epic!
I hope they add the clocktower as a daily tournament.
The game is really missing truly competitive content.
Well to quote myself :-
“So you’ve been at it for hours on end, you’ve slowly mastered each twist and turn. You’ve spent countless runs getting to the Jump, but what then, where do we go now…..oh some more blocks have arrived. You jump some more, run up a few wooden poles you take the 90 degree turn and jump onto the stairs.
But then your too eager and you jump at the clock face before it’s shattered.
You scream in anger and frustration, scratching your head and tugging at hair you give it a few more attempts.
Until finally you reach the chest.
I LOVE THE CLOCK TOWER."
Is it true the designer apologized for making this wonderfully warped puzzle?
Why?
It’s a nice piece of work, the only improvement needed is to get the waiting time reduced.

It’s kinda sad how bad players whine out and out loud everyone else and make a designer feel bad and apologize. Hey, there are some bugs but the Clock tower is VERY doable. Why blame everyone else if you’re bad at a video game?
Also, it’s an optional, free added content. I was very excited after finishing it for first time, took me about 40 minutes. I am sure that it wouldn’t be so fun if it was dumbed down. Keep up the great work, hope to see more like these!
took me 2 hours the first time, but it’s a great, great, great thing! Whiners whine because they fail… and they always will. Bring the clock tower back! please!!!
it would be awesome if they could add a jumping puzzle similar to the clock tower somewhere in Tyria…
Me too, I miss the clocktower already. Was a lot of fun and very challenging!
But who knows, they might just make a christmas tree jumping puzzle for wintersday :p I can’t wait for new jumping puzzles like the clock tower in the future.
Loved it. Want moar of the same.
I will miss it SOOO much =( I only completed it the one time as I really haven’t had much time to play. I am SOOO very happy I got it done though and wish I could spend more time with it to do it again and again for my alts.
I will be very sad and disappointed if there isn’t more of the same for Wintersday festivities (just as hard), or if the clocktower is dumbed down=/. You cannot please all of the people all of the time. Dumbing it down will alienate another section of your playerbase. I do not play my 10 year olds’ games for a reason.

A jumping puzzle is nice and all but I have 3 gripes with it:
- I hate things that have a time constraint. In my view jumping puzzles are supposed to be exactly that, a puzzle to find your way around. Not have a Super Mario style setup of platformgaming with a tight timelimit. But this is personal preference so it’s the least important.
- Constantly having to see the animation at the start of every attempt wore me out rather quickly. But, again, this is a lesser issue.
- The one segement where ArenaNet royally screwed up however is the idea to make the event being done in groups rather than in a storymode-like personal instance.
I have an Asure engineer and every time I try the puzzle I run into a group that has 3 Norns, 2 Humans and 2 Charr etc in it. I kid you not, I have tried countless times and always end up in groups where i simply cannot see where I’m going because there’s big fat other players’ avatars blocking my view.
Due to the small space where one can manoever and the fact that my bodymass is so small compared to every other character around me it’s at times nigh impossible to estimate distances etc as my character is literally up someone else’s behind thus blocking my view from the action.

Chief, I did it a few times with my Asura, yeah it can be difficult not seeing where your going, but on the other hand it’s not difficult to count to three once the circle on the side of the tower passes. This gives you a head start over a majority of the rest.

Asura. Necro. Without any speed traits. My 3 chests run.
(recorded on laptop, so the quality is somewhere else)
Yeah, there was only one charr this time. But with this video I wanted to show if you can’t see – find a place from where you can or just be faster. Honestly, I saw only 5 other people who were using left gear platfor at the start and none of them were Asura. Why? It gives you almost perfect timing sense. Oh well.
On a side note, there’s my video of Clocktower secret level / spectator mode that one dude showed me.

A portal to the clock tower —even with no rewards-- would be lovely. Pretty please?
