Clocktower is pure awesomeness!
I did it with all 8 of my characters. But before I got good enough to do it, I have since thrown things across the room and cursed enough to make a sailor blush. Even now that I am done with it, I still say it was TOO MUCH. Too much for the average player. Only insane people like me have enough… I don’t even know what to call it. Insanity. And I may have a heart attack, now. No joke. If I ever see something like this again, I may blow my brains out.
I found it irritating especially when I got to the top but didn’t know I had to wait…
Then I found out I couldn’t even salvage the stupid exotic I got…
Kinda a waste of my time.
Yeah the rewards were not worth it. By far the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in a video game, and I get a pair of smelly slippers and two tonics.
I did it! I guess it was about 2.5 hours total but I’m proud to say I didn’t watch any videos or read any walkthroughs to do it.
:)
I hope they make more puzzles with this kind of difficulty. It was fantastic imo.
Without sounding like a jerk…its not made for everyone. They made it with the intention of being super hard and not everyone will get it… that’s pretty much the truth.
I really didn’t mind the first reward cause I am more interested in doing it after that multiple times for ToT bags.

Lol seriously? Wtf I must have played some hard video games in my past then. Have you ever played ninja gaiden, dark souls, some of the platformers on the sega and snes? This jumping puzzle was an entertaining casual walk in the park compared to those games.
I agree! This was amazing. I’ve done it tons of times to get candy corn for recipes and ToT bag achievement. This whole event was awesome. Whatever the next holiday event will be they have a lot to live up to.
My toon’s an Asura as well. I finally beat it after two hours of straight attempts, but no guides, as I wanted to get it on my own. I enjoyed myself even in the failed attempts. It’s a crafty little jumping puzzle. I do hate Charr and the ‘fatter’ Norns now though. They can all roast in the fiery pits of Hades now.
I have to admit I ended up loving the Tower as well. Sure, it’s frustrating in the beginning, but as you get better and better the runs become smoother and smoother, until you can flawlessly make the jumps at the start even if your character is hidden in the middle of a huge ball of naked flesh. (Ewww…) It gives you a strange sense of satisfaction to see others fall one by one (and I’ve made the odd mistake too, even after completing the Tower multiple times, so sometimes I’m on the receiving end!) and watch yourself keep going.
On the other side, you can tell how many players are still going when you’re in the lobby. Every time a player falls, you can see the timer jump forward a notch. If you’re one of these people, you spend the time commiserating with your fellows (/cry) or cheering on the people who are still going.
Yeah I agree, after I finished it with my charr I went straight back to my human and did i 11 times more before getting quitting (lots of trick or treat bags ahoy). The tower is fun and addicting. I’d love to see more puzzles as tricky as the tower! ^^
I don’t know why, but this jumping puzzle and I get along very well. Norns and Charr can be pesky distractions, but the jumps are not very far so there is some room for error, providing you don’t stop to take in the scenery xD.
I love it too! Check out my video!
I agree that Clock tower is awesome in theory, but the execution is anything but perfect. There is no fluidity to it, players are constantly getting snagged on edges and poorly placed objects. I like where ANet is going with adding unique content to mmo’s, but they are still quite rusty with the platforming, there is more to it than simply having a jump button.
9 out of 10 runs, I can’t see my character OR the platforms. I can’t understand why so many people fail to recognize this as a flaw, just because they were able to complete the puzzle. We’ll just have to wait until next time to see if ANet learns anything this time around.
I want to see more Puzzles like this as well. Just NOT attached to Limited time only Achievements..
I spent 2 hours a day on this puzzle from the day it launched. I FINALLY did it just about 20 min ago.. it felt absolutely AWESOME to finally finish it.. But at the same time I feel badly for all those people who are doing it not because they want the challenge, but because they are completionists and cant stand the thought of not being able to get an achievement.

As someone who’s been at the clocktower for 12+ hours with no success yet (though I’ve gotten close many times), I really appreciate the challenge. I think the difficulty is perfect because people who complete the puzzle can have a sense of real accomplishment. Hopefully we get more like this in the future
For me at least the tower is a love hate thing; still haven’t been able to beat it though. In the future I would like to see more jumping puzzles similar this, something that offers a good challenge, but won’t drive you batcrap insane.
