Costume Brawl needs own instance
They’ve said that if it becomes popular, they’re thinking of expanding it as a mini game.
I think it’d be fun if they made it’s own little underground fighting arena, kind of like Keg Brawl.
I think the absurd EVERYONE FOR THEMSELVES!!!! style is just a test run to see how popular Costume Brawl gets.
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30
I personally hope they do not force us into some kind of arena, i prefer to mess around in town. It’s only crazy atm since it’s new and everybody wants to try it out.
Also, i have…
I7 3770
8gb ram
GTX 550ti
Windows 7 64 bit
i can run the game on high (shadows medium) with no lag and yet even i still have invisible people unless i get up quite close, i think this is by design as like i said, i have zero lag and still have to be very close to see people.
I agree, at one point I was trying to jump into the pot but people kept fighting around me that I would lag so much that I wouldn’t know where I was jumping to. I was about to start breaking things.
I agree, it does get distracting, especially during the first few hours of the event last night. In GW1, Costume Brawl was instanced, so hopefully next year it’ll be instanced too. I can see them easily making it a instanced minigame.
It can be but it MUST be still possible in normal PVE do this kind of fights, in the actual simple way just with tonics/styles as the mad king that makes fun when we are exploring and nothing to do, have some fights (since this kinda replaces the lost duels)
Asura thing.
Exactly, its the kind of thing people will do when waiting for world bosses etc, just drink a few tonics or stick on some costumes and have brawl whilst you wait, hardly advanced enough for it to have it’s own instance, i do it for fun and as a time waster, not to go through loading screens so that i can run around whacking people.
Agreed. I also can’t see players for the first few minutes.
In GW1 costume brawl were instanced, on pvp maps – with 2 groups of players randomly mashed together and killing players with costume skills for points. I would actually prefer it this way, but with some kind of twist.
The fun part of costume brawl is the fact you can do it anywhere, If you want to compete but can’t due to computer performance. Just don’t do it in lions arch, i found a few people spawning cauldrons and stuff near ghost locationshaemoor graveyard and i had a grand time there.

Same here, made that pot jumping puzzle way harder than it actually was. Not to mention those food fight tables that when used throw you into costume battle so you can get hit by people and no way to leave it.
Imo, costume battle here is absolute trash, it was way better in gw1.
Seriously, having it instanced would kill it, it would be an inferior form of pvp. The charm to this feature is that you can do it anywhere anytime(as long as you’re not in combat) as i said above, it is exactly what we needed for when large groups of players are waiting for world bosses etc. A silly bit of fun.
Instanced? No way.
This is one of the things I love about the ANet team — they’ve got the guts to try something different, and imo this is a total win.
I was more confused watching one of those fights happen as soon as I visited Lion’s Arch than watching a trailer for Hotline Miami.

This ^
I was wandering around Gendarran Fields shirtless, wearing black pants with red string, and had my boxing gloves on, just ’cause I could.
It was then that I spotted someone else jogging down the way. Lo’ and behold, it was another boxer! Dressed exactly like me (but with white pants with blue string).
We spotted each other, stopped for a moment and stared, I cheered, then we started an epic boxing match for the ages!!!
I ended up losing, but it was still one of the most fun/random moments I’ve had in game!
Makes me want to organize a boxing tournament somewhere. >.>
