Sense some of the skins like the Greatsaw are not halloween themed. AN should make it available in black lion chests longer, maybe though the holidays. This may also bring in extra revenue after Halloween event.

But they are halloween themed.

Sorry but.. I think timed and exclusive items should remain timed and exclusive. >_<
It’s the purpose of seasonal events and to keep it special.

In GW1 halloween stuff WAS exclusive; everyone who went to any given event got the items. But after the event the number of people who ciontinued to use the items went down over time, new arrivals never had the opportunity and so on. So that 12 months later items were genuinely rare

Greatsaw and the ilk are so few and most in the hands of the richest players who’ll likely buy something bigger and flashier, in 12 months time I’ll bet you won’t see ANYONE with them. They’ll have dissapeared entirely, your definition of exclusive overlaps with extinct

It’s a point of frustration for those of us who don’t have legendary aspirations have bought keys, saved up hard to try buy it on TP and yet the price is always just beyond our reach…

I have to agree with some of this. The rare items are sometimes so rare that it impossible to get. Having a week or two to get them, not to mention it requires either spending real work cash or lots of in game money just to open one chest, makes it nearly impossible for the true collectors like me to get it. I will admit that I paid for a but load of gems to try and get these skins. I opened 41 Black Lion Chests (thats including the bonus keys I got from opening) and I did not receive a single skin. I then used all the boosts I got from those chests to make the Mad Kind Chests for the “2nd Chance” and must have made about 30 or so. Same result, nothing.

Its is rather sickening to open so many chests (at least $50 worth of keys) to get nothing but things I have no use for or have too much of already. I cant help but recall the “Super” Rare Mini Pets that no normal collector in GW1 could get. The Mini Polar Bear is a great example. I cant remember how many times I ran through that dungeon to get the Bear and only receive Ale’s. In fact, I did not know a single person who ever got one from the drop.

In this case its different. It just kills me that even collectors like me, who spent real money cant even get one of the skins from opening 41 chests and to which is probably set to drop at a rate of less that 1%. I don’t have 25-50 gold to spend in the TP to get a single skin unlike the super players who don’t have jobs and spend hours running the dungeons. The players have huge amounts of cash to their name and don’t care how much hey spend to get the item.

I wont deny that its supposed to be a gamble but to spend so much money and not receive one skin, come on, that is just insane.

Why didn’t you convert your $50 into gold and buy the skin from the TP?

And is it really necessary to bring people’s employment status into the conversation? It’s perfectly possible to have a job and have 25-50g by now.

And to answer the OP, no I don’t think the Halloween skins should stay in the chests after Halloween. And yes, the chainsaw is a Halloween themed item. If this were a Warhammer game it wouldn’t be. Since it’s Guild Wars, it is indeed a Halloween item.

@Kana: Hindsight is always 20/20 – many people who bought keys didn’t check the forums first, or perhaps bought them when there was no data on drop rates available; indeed without their spending we’d have never known how low it was.

Armed with what we know now, we know that it’d be better to convert those gems to gold and buy that way. But that raises another issue: $50 for a virtual item NOT ACCEPTABLE
