There has been a lot of questions that have been asked but have not actually been verified by Arenanet. This thread is in the hopes that someone from the Arenanet team can answer these or someone can verify it with a source.

The most asked questions are:

1. Does Magic Find effect the Mad King Dungeon chest?

2. Do diminishing returns actually effect the Mad King Dungeon chest?

3. While it has been proven that you can get Arachnophobia, The Mad Moon and The Crossing. Can you get the actual non-crafted skins from the Mad King Dungeon chest? (Greatsaw, Grinning Shield, Scythe Staff, etc.)

4. Is it possible to get a Precursor Legendary from the Mad King Dungeon chest?

It is understandable that the idea of it being a mystery adds to the effect of finding out for yourself, but wasting time trying to get an item that could possibly not even be part of that loot table is hindering the player trying to acquire that item.

These questions being answered will put to rest all of the theories and assumptions. A lot of people want specific items and would like to know if doing the Mad King Dungeon is the best route to take.

(This is not a post complaining about the rate of drops. It is about verification of how the chest works.)

Notice that nowhere in the definition did it say that gamemasters have in-depth knowledge of internal game mechanics that are kept hidden from the general public.

Not necessarily one of the weapons. But took a screenshot of looting Deadly Avian Mantle Skin. Heard a lot of people saying they got shoulders. Just posting in case anyone wanted something more than hearsay.

As a personal anecdote, I’ve only seen/heard of people looting the craftable Halloween skins. I’ve yet to hear of someone looting a BLC/MKC only skin.

Wish I had some hard info for you, but that’s the best I’ve got. It also seems like the BLC skins aren’t lootable, simply ‘cause I’ve been following the skin prices and those ones are steadily rising, whereas they’d more likely be falling if some manner of loot from the MK dungeon was keeping them in supply. Meanwhile, the craftable skin prices are falling like a rock.

My opinion,

MF does make a difference, Here is why … Ran Mad king 10 times no MF, got all greens maybe it was bad luck.

-Added a simple food with MF between 4-20% and received 3 exotics in my next 10 runs. Did not get a skin of Mad king piece

-Did Labyrinth about 10 times no MF, multiple characters… got nothing, Today along in 3 chest .. 2 on 1 character and 1 on other in a row i got 3 piece of mad king, chest,shoulders,pants i believe..

-Slippers come from JP too

So i made some good gold in the last few days with halloween event, TY Anet.

I also run MK with each character and also run the 2 chest daily in Labyrinth

Actually, I’m pretty sure that #2 is a yes. I did two very quick runs of the dungeon. On the first one I got a booster, two greens and some candy. On the second run I got candy and a white bag. Could have been just a bug, but I suspect it was DR (which makes sense, since DR clearly affects the number of bags you get from the Mad King himself).

I’ve tried with 0% Magic Find, 22% Magic Find, 86% Magic Find, and 120% Magic Find over 10 runs. I’ve yet to find a single Exotic. All greens every single run.

So either Magic Find does nothing here or my bad luck is just persisting or both! I’m just betting both

I did 6 runs and I got the Mad Moon on my second run no other exotics or rares. The DR affected the bags, but not the items dropped.

I did runs with full MF, without MF…made no difference.
23rd run: exotic level 76
24th run: exotic level 78
31st run: the mad moon
The rest, up to 53 runs, greens, revive orb, trade merchant, TP summon, boosters, one key, heavy loot bags.

Magic Find is only supposed to affect drops from creatures, not from chests or anything else. Doesn’t mean Arena Net can’t have coded some chests to benefit from Magic Find (either deliberately or by mistake), but without official confirmation I’d say it makes no difference.

Magic Find has affected my loot.
One of my party members have looted The Crossing from the chest.
