Good Bye Special Event, Anet hates my timezone.
In the east coast is going to be 6am on Monday. Even if I decide to get up you know what’s going to be the worst thing? There is going to be an epic lag and won’t really experience the event because everyone will try to be in LA in that moment.
If you are referring to the east coast of the USA, you’ve made a serious miscalculation. The event is going to be at Noon PDT, when means it will be 3 in the afternoon Sunday on the east coast, NOT 6 in the morning Monday.

Even though this game seems to revolve around the US, doesn’t mean he’s talking about the east coast of the US. There are other countries in the world even though Aanet seems to forget they exist.
He means East Coast Australia the country that is neglected and always forgotton by game companies.
I’ll be missing the event. I will get home just as it is ending IF lucky.
Simple Fix….. A one time personal story instance that you and 4 friends can do together as stated above or a simple cutscene that shows the first time you log into Lions Arch after the update
I’m pretty peeved about this. I’ll be missing it by an hour or two because, gee whizz, I have to work! :/ The whole “appealing to the highest peek of players” works for stuff like down time. Downtime for fixing bugs and patches is needed, you can’t avoid it, so then it makes sense to sometimes annoy the players that are on less.
This event? No. No that’s dumb. There is no good reason they could not have worked around to make this a more than one time thing.
Spoiling it by seeing it before the event? Oh so it’s better to see it afterwards when you can never see the real deal? This just reeks of poor decisions. Seeing the event on youtube will not be the same and it would have been so incredably easy to make this event viewable by anyone that had a smiggen of time on Sunday to get on.

As a US player, I find this extremely stupid. Probably the most idiotic thing I have read this year.
Running the event every 2-3 hours for a whole day starting at 12 PDT makes lots of people happier. Everyone still has opportunity to be at the first one, but can participate at a time they choose.
I was really looking forward to this event but really? A lot of us work so a lot of people are going to miss this. One time only event… I don’t understand this reasoning at all.
I read they didn’t want it spoiled which I don’t understand. Either you are at the event so it can’t be spoiled or you miss it entirely in which case does it matter if you see it on youtube or not?
Does this one time event have anything which goes towards the title?
I’m highly amused at how much whining there is in this thread. When I played FFXI there wasn’t even 10% of this much complaining about the fact that SE’s Japanese bias led to maintenance being scheduled during the middle of North American prime time. That made it so many people simply couldn’t play the game they were paying for every month, but they still didn’t cry this hard.
Mursaat Rally in Maguuma Stade. Google it and learn your history, sometimes things only happen once and repeating them ruins the magic. No one cried fowl when they missed the spectacle back then… but those were different times, I suppose.
… We all got killed in town. Didn’t earn anything but boy was it funny as hell as Mursaat just poured into the town and decimated everyone.
[Eon] – Blackgate
You might miss the start. But im pretty sure the event will play out more than once.
I remember thinking the very same thing for the first WoW christmas event. But after staying up for hours sitting in front of a Christmas tree being told by ‘Dwarf Santa’ that its “First come first serve”, I then found out it wasn’t first come first serve and everyone could get a present. It was also a daily, you could get more than one. Don’t stress. Remember Anet also made GW1, they have experience. They aren’t ignorant enough to screw their playerbase out of a 1 time event.
To Sithaco, because quoting just broke, there is no achievement tied to this event.
Sanctum of Rall
It is a strange notion for them to say “Oh we only want to do it once so the event isn’t ruined for all the other players who couldn’t be there by watching it on Youtube”. OH but by doing it so only a very specific player base does it you polarise the players into favored and unfavored who will resent the devs because of stupid ideas.
If you apply the same ridiculous notion to the rest of the game, “oh they beat Zhaitan, no-one else can now”, “Oh someone leveled a mesmer to max, someone might see that, lets make only ONE player max a mesmer”, come on people rolls eyes
Good work to the GW1 community devs for continuing to put the player base on even footing and fleshing out a continuously fun halloween event with a reasonable finale system and fun for ALL players. * take a leaf out of your own franchises successes gw2 devs*
I have no clue how many Anet staff are needed to pull off events like this. Since Anet is majorly working out of Seattle, they want to have manageable work hours for their staff as they appeal to their highest peak time of player concurrency. Hopefully when Anet starts growing and establishing more offices throughout the world, they will have additional groups of teams able to coordinate these events for multiple time zones.

Same way they handle every other dynamic event: By programing the servers to handle everything without the need for human input.
If the event needed human input from ANET, they would have to stagger it just to handle all the existing worlds. Then there are overflows.
Saraccogiorgio, east coast of what country?
East coast of Australia, obviously.
