It was really nice, spent 3+ Hours in a row mastering it, it was hard at first, but it had to be done now because my Adrenaline was all focused up, and my fingers had memorized only for that instant, me and 3 people had been there all along till the end, I first completed it, I loved the last jump, Lightining And a epic leap!

It was totally fun! This was a real challenge and is one of those where you muscle memory kicks in like the old games

Took me a bit to get it done, but that last set of jumps, including the final one, I did in one go. I think the adrenaline just kicked in and and I jumped and reacted like crazy, shouting and cheering when I reached the end hahaha This is one of those things where you try more and more and feels so good when you reach the end.

Thanks ANet for an awesome jumping puzzle!

I can’t say how much i hate this, plus the fact they made it an achivement so its almost like a requirement is making me uninstall this game, for a jumping puzzle game i would play other games, or just another mmorpg. It makes me very sad.

I love it too. I failed countless times at first, but once I got it, I can do it again and again. I spent hours repeating it, I got 250+ ToT bags just by doing the clock tower XD

No, they don’t effect other players, only the Elementalist themselves. If we had our #4 in Air, we can effect others, but all skills are locked during the puzzle. Not sure how you got a boost.

That means some people have discovered an exploit that allows for area buffs. In my group of jumpers, others were complaining that someone was speed buffing them, and affecting their jump timing.

In anycase, you gotta love the Asura who cast Golem, or Eles who cast Elementals just to troll. Having those giant things follow you, and just teleport to each area you’re jumping is lolz. Would be even more fun if you could do what Mario Cart does, and have items that you can throw at others jumping.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

I loved it. Yes, there are some bugs, and yes it can cause lots of hand-wringing in frustration, but when you reach the end, it feels great.

I finished it, but didn’t particularly like it. What kept me going for the ~1.5 hours to complete it was that I was thinking “if other people can do it, then I want to show that I can too,” and I also thought that I could sell the end reward for a good amount of gold.

During the puzzle jumping, my heart did race (and no, I don’t particularly enjoy that feeling). And I don’t feel like I achieved anything important after completing it.

Anyways, what greatly ruined my enjoyment was the constant complaining and bullying going on (particularly against Norns/Charrs). If there was anything I was going to really enjoy, it would have been about the social aspect of it, but clearly that didn’t happen (considering the way people acted).

P.S. – I did get something out of this though. I learned that many people can be such bullies even in such a context—a holiday game.

Something I never see get mentioned is that your hardware can make a difference. If your mouse has low dpi or a jittery laser it can make these things 10x harder… couple that with slow internet/low performing graphical hardware, and this puzzle goes from hard, to horribly frustrating and for the wrong reasons.

The upside is that there is no DOWNside to not completing it.

No I do not like it, as someone who is over the age of 40 I do not enjoy spastic button spamming geared to the attention spam of a 18 year old. If you had a puzzle that required thought and not mindless reflex yes I might enjoy it.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. Are you saying that an 18 year old has a better attention span than a 40+ year old? Because I’m 21, and this event is ruining my progress on my midterms exams/homework this week. And I guess this is just a matter of opinion, but I feel that this jumping puzzle takes a lot of strategy and thought, I feel that if you’re doing any “spastic button spamming”, you’re probably failing the puzzle often. The jumps need to be careful and deliberate.

Edit: That being said, I think these Halloween events have been a blast so far, and I haven’t even done half of the activities yet.

Ok let me be more specific, when I was young there was something called acrade games. In one of these it was a dungeon and you would try and make it past puzzles to a final dragon. It took no skill or thought, just repeating the cycle until you knew the pattern. Repeating a pattern countless times until you know what to do a specific moment requires no thought just repeatition. So you you are correct it has nothing to do with attention span or reflexes.

So I will grant you’re arguement. However it does not make for “fun” nor does it require “thought” just repetition unitl you know the pattern. If you find mindless repetition fun well more power to you. But in my book this requires no skill or thought process to figure out a puzzle.

I get that ou really can’t provide an alternitive as the internet would just post a solution if the puzzle had any thought behind it, but again it doesn’t necessarily make it fun for me to repeat the same thing over and over until I get the pattern.

Everyone has a different idea of fun, I am not saying for others this isn’t a good thing. I just with I had an alternitive to finishing all the events except doing this.

:-]

@Magnes

You do realize that being able to memorize a pattern and then perform the steps to meet that pattern near flawlessly several times in a row is one form of skill, right?

It’s the same basic principle that allows a piano player to succeed at playing music after practicing enough.

Your definition of skill is too narrow if you think it doesn’t apply at all to these types of jumping puzzles, particularly these more difficult timed versions.

Ok Berethos I will give you the “skill” definition. If you read my post it relates more to the defintion of fun than skill. Playing an instrument requires skill and repetition I will grant you this. I never played an instrament because I did not find the repetition aspect fun. So again my point is that I wish there was an alternative to finishing the event. Please keep in mind your talking to someone who finds turn based games fun. Where you have to think through your next move and consider the results.

The jumping puzzles in the game are fine tbh as they are not time based. When you implement a time limit you are defaulting to skill and repetition (like an instrument). I just find taking my time and thinking through a solution more fun. To be constructive again this is not taking away from others, everyone has their own definition of fun.

My point to ANET is please provide options instead of only one path. Not everyone is a musical master after all.
