For the players who are upset because the chest drops were nerfed, followed by the 24-hour cooldown timer (in too many topics for me to try to cross-post this and expect it to be seen), have you tried doing the champion events on your other characters?

The timer appears to be per character, not per account; as I write this, it’s been less than 24 hours since Act 2 was released, let alone 24 hours since the patch that changed the chest cooldowns. I was able to open all of the chests once on my main AND all of the chests once on an alt. (Still have to check on my other alts, but I’m pretty sure I’ll get the same results; I’ll post when I do.)

No, it doesn’t fix the issues people have brought up about the economical effects of those first few hours (which I won’t rehash here). But it DOES allow you to open at least 10 chests per day instead of 2 if you’ve got five characters from the five slots that come with the base game.

TL;DR: 24 hour timer is per character, not account.

I did on all my 3 lvl 80s , best drop was a green bow.

So yeah … awesome!

I don’t have alts nor do I want alts.

I shouldn’t have to wait 24 hours in an attempt to collect a special seasonal event of gear, in which I only have a small chance of collecting 1 piece every 24 hours.

Good god come on now. You know it’s crap, I know it’s crap. Where’s ANET’s response already?

Doesn’t matter if it’s “per character” or not.

Once a day combined with the chance of getting nothing of value is complete BS.

What if I want something that can only be gotten at this time of the year?
Mad King’s armor, unique Halloween recipe, and whatever else it could possibly drop.

A person can have multiple toons and open both chests per day and end up with equipment they could have gotten from any other mob drop in the world at any other time of the year AND STILL not get a single unique Halloween related item from those chests.

I want the mad king set! it looks so good and its rly high priced on TP ;/

Draaky, I’ve bee told the skins are on some standard equipment, so if you’re after the look alone, you might be better off hunting that down instead.

I posted this to inform anyone who WOULD like to use their alts to get a few more shots at the chest but wasn’t aware of the possibility. From reading map chat, there seem to be quite a few players who fall into this category.

Yes, I agree that the once-per-24 hours chest nerf combined with the rarity of the gear drops can turn what should be a celebration into a grind-fest/ragefest, whether or not you have/care for alts. ANet could have designed the fix a lot better than they did (spawn the champs once every x hours, have the chests drop tokens and create an event consumable/gear vendor like they have for GW1 events, etc., etc.), but they didn’t, and until they do something to fix the fix, I’m just stating what CAN be done right now.

Draaky, I can confirm that the Mad King heavy armor chest piece, at least, is the same skin as the chest piece from the Pit Fighter armor set (got it from a chest late last night on my Asura Guardian, who would look ridiculous in what I call “kitten bondage gear” – your tastes may vary). If you just want the armor skin, it’s cheaper to look for that on the TP and transmute.

How about the Light armor?
I want it cuz it has condition dmg/pwr + MF and its exotic!

You can get the Acolyte exotic gear on the TP, Traveler’s version which is the same stats, for cheaper.
