Listening Yet? People are all but screaming at you...
I agree.
I’m going to retry this at some dead hour where I don’t have to worry about some hulky male charr taking up all my screen space in his COF gear. I am charr myself but at least I have the courtesy to take my gear off and try no to stand on anyone else at the start. -.-

What if I want to do it with friends? I thought this was an MMO …
It’s not that bad…I’ve had a group of Norn and charr (me being human) and I beat it. Just keep it as is. Sure its annoying but its not crazy hard.
Would be a better idea to remove it from the emissary achivement.
I actually started enjoying having people with me, it was funny to see them fall or go past me, and chatting between rounds and cracking jokes.
I think it’d definatly be a lesser experience if it were made solo.

A small minority of players are “screaming.” And thats it. I see just as many people replying on these threads saying its fine the way it is. Besides, a few dozen people doth not a majority make.

It’s not a part of the emissary achievement.
Puzzle is fine with others people. In fact, when you get used to the puzzle, you die much more often because of your own mistakes than a big chaar in front of you. Even with an Asuran.
After the 2 stairs and some rocks (= the very start of the puzzle), a lot of people are already out and there’s more space between remainer, so it’s not an issue at all at this stage.

Also, remember that people who are enjoying themselves are less likely to stop by the forum and say so, while people who are not will make a bee-line for it to grind their axes

Then you get those smug few who have completed it and say ‘I don’t know what you’re all talking about, this puzzle is fine, I love it blah blah blah.’

Well, I don’t. Sure it took me at least 2 dozen attempts, but it was hilarious and good fun and felt good when I finally beat it, I even did another run afterwards for an encore (I messed up early in though xD).
I’ve heard this all before, when people were shouting “OMG DUNGEONS ARE IMPOSSIBLE” – you never hear that anymore… did they nerf dungeons or did people just get better at the game?
So tell me, do you guys want a nerf now, so you can beat it “easy mode” or do you want to beat it the same way the rest of us did and say “yeah, I am good at this”. And achievement isn’t an achievement if you just get handed it… it’s like those silly xbox achievements: “Achievement: You started the game!”

That argument doesn’t work in reverse because the people who are not having the issue would not be affected by the change at all.
Does it at all hurt you or take away your achievement if it gets to be a solo instance? No? Okay then.
I don’t believe anyone here is asking for ‘easy mode.’ we are just saying it would make more sense for the dungeon to be solo-able so people don’t get in the way. That’s surely not going to hurt you is it?
Is the aim of the dungeon to overcome large people getting in your way? Wow sounds super fun. You did a good job, that’s what I’ll think about when I see your achievement sarcasm

The people around you are a part of the difficulty.
Plus, it’s a fake problem because in most case, there’s almost no one with you when you past trough the very start of the puzzle.

Then its suppose to be disproportionately more difficult for some races? I see.
No wait, I don’t. There is no reason at all this shouldn’t have a solo option, or at least a much smaller instance size.

Charr do have very awkward jumping animations, but i notice you’re forced into a combat stance for the duration of the puzzle making it much easier than their pouncing leap.
Norn are kind’ve ungainly due to their large footprint.
human/sylvari don’t see an issue.
Asura should have a very easy time having a smaller footprint and thus easier to judge exactly where you are landing (I did it as an Asura, likewise my friend who was with me also completed it slightly before I did and he is an asura – indeed we were racing each other the last 1/3 of the map xD)

If you’re in a party, your party goes in, simple. Same as dungeons.
A lot of people run trough this puzzle with asuran character with big charrs around them, including me and two guildmates.
And as ryuujin stated, others race have their own problem in all jumping puzzle. Big norn are so big that you can’t distinguish the hitbox correctly and it’s verry easy to miss the platform.

No issue what so ever despite having Norns, Charrs and big butts blocking my view all the time during attempts… Though i did like them big butts and its not like me to lie.

I like the puzzle the way it is, I hope they dont change it. o3o, I like difficulty!
A lot of people can’t run trough this puzzle
The puzzle hasn’t even been up 12 hours and people’ve already given up? – Do people really have such short attention spans in the 21st century?
I’d say you take lines of context but you didn’t even take a whole line.
I’m not even going to attempt it until next year, why? my machine won’t be able to keep up and I’ll just lag and die and give up. I can get a new machine sure, but it will be months from now when I can afford it. So I’m only doing what I can and making sacrifices as I’m quite used to it by now.
I’m sure ANet has heard…
…but you do realize it’s been less than 10 hours from the release of the puzzle? programming doesn’t have a magic solo-instance switch.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Honestly, if this was a solo instance I would still be working on it. The only reason I beat it was because me and the others I was grouped with worked together to figure out that you had to jump down to the chest.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
It’s fine. Deal with it.
The whines, the whines in this thread are mild!
Really though, spend some more time and you will finally succeed. Once you’ll get a hang of it, you’ll feel like deleting your posts in this thread and the whole thread. The whole point of this is to run with others, making cheezy comments as they fall while you proceed further, haha.
Are you kidding me? It’s way more fun as a group. I love how it’s like a race and being able to meet up after death—and waiting to be able to start again is just exciting. I loved hearing people laugh or “Grrrr” or say they almost made it. It’s a great SOCIAL aspect for an MMO.
Yeah, I failed miserably my first 10 jumps but i watched others and i learned. In any other MMO you have to research and grind. You’ll spend hours going through a dungeon HOPING for that one piece of gear. THAT is time consuming. So Anet wants you to spend a few hours or more on a jumping puzzle? Would you rather go out in the world and grind for hours and hours? Apparently that is what you guys want. I mean, that’s so much more fun than a jumping puzzle, right?
I swear, you people can never be happy.
Once again we see the “Its not a problem for ME so… it can’t be a problem for anyone else” and we’re now getting the “I had fun doing it THIS way so YOU should too”
If you wanna do it in a group, fine. Some of us want to do it solo and will enjoy it more that way.
I like it as a group event. This is a multiplayer game. I agree with the guy who said it was a fun group experience to race others, “compete” in this event and share frustrations and new milestones.
it’s a fake problem because in most case, there’s almost no one with you when you past trough the very start of the puzzle.
This makes me wonder if you’ve even gone in.
Not only is everyone with you when you start, but there’s a 6-second pause waiting for a platform to spawn soon after the start, which ensures that all players will be on top of each other (making most characters completely invisible if there are any charr or norn) when the real jumping begins.
And, obviously, because it’s a timed puzzle, if you wait for them to move so you can see your own character, you’ll never make it.
Result:
Asura in the middle of charr or norn = Jumping blind (plus camera bouncing due to the asura target position bug).
Charr or norn in the middle of asura = Perfect view of your own character and platforms.
Does that look like good design (or evidence of good testing) to you…?
I agree it needs to either be solo or have a reduced number of people per instance.. I can be to the first platform way ahead of the pack but cant see to jump to the next one due to having to wait for the next spot to spawn and thus getting stuck in the mob of people waiting.
I enjoyed it when I was doing it solo and had a much better experience so therefore the only thing that can be said is that it was better that way.
No Issues just need practice

Want a screen maybe ?
The very start of the puzzle === until some jump after the platform where everybody wait. If you find the puzzle difficult at this point, good luck to finish it because it’s easy as hell at this point.
Anyway, it’s easy to get rid of almost everyone after the platform where everyone wait : be fast to do the jump. Actually, you don’t have to wait that the animation of the rock ends, you can’t jump when it just started.
If you are the first one, you don’t care about big norn.
And the first jump on the witing platform can be done blindfolded.
