Good morning. I am a brand spanking new player and enjoying myself so far, I bought the game two days before the Mad King patch went live, and my current highest character is level 17.

So, with that said, what all can I do with this event? I seem to be able to farm candy corn and other trick or treat resources that are pretty much good for making coin on the black lion market, I can carve a few pumpkins as I run by them, and when I was playing around at level 5 human I saw a few gateway doors that were being swarmed by people and an occasional monster. Though I haven’t seen any of these doors on my Norn character at all, just the human newbie area.

Not wanting to miss this rare event, I’m curious what all is available to me that I am missing out on and what should I be “storing up for later” or going in search of now?

Go to heart of the mists, the pvp zone you can enter in your interface.

There take the big purple portal in front of you (once you cleared the prezone with tutorials that is)

That portal puts you in the capital of the game, if you haven’t started there already since you speak of carving and such.

look on the map for the event sign, speak to the npc’s there and read what you should do.

And most fun perhaps as lowby: look for silly creatures that are players goofing about in the costume brawl.
If you see a cauldron or a table (which players have put up): use it and get transformed. From there on: just wack away and have fun.

go in your starting racial city…you should see a purple portal…
It will lead you to lion’s arch city.

There you can play costume brawl or you can speak to a character in the city square, you’ll play a quest with a nice reward…

You could possible need help for the last part of that event though >.> of other players or of few high lvl players…

Well it should be easy because there are plenty players doing the same quest….

The Mad King Thorn was the king in Kryta centuries ago. I don’t know if the haunted doors are spawning in Norn areas, since the event is based on Human lore. But, at least for the first scavenger hunt, all of the action takes place in low-level areas so you should be able to participate without problem if you use the portal in Hoelbrak to go to Lions Arch, then use the portal in Lions arch to go to Divinity’s Reach.

To participate go to Lions Arch, climb up the jumping platforms outside the mystic cauldron and jump in; then play costume brawl. Talk to an asuran biographer next to the Lion Statue in the Grand Piaza and she will mail you a matter meter. Use the clues to complete the scavenger hunt and get a cool back piece as a reward. Give candy to costumed children in Lions Arch.

While you are out in the world playing the game as normal you’ll be able to Trick-or-Treat at haunted doors, mine candy corn, and carve pumpkins. Eat Candy. Be sure to show up around mid-day on the 28th to participate in the grand event.

The event is currently taking place in Lion’s Arch and the human areas around Divinity’s Reach. There is a purple portal in Hoelbrak at the end of the crafting plaza. That will take you to Lion’s Arch. Take note of where you land in LA; there are other portals there, and you can take the one to Divinity’s Reach anytime you like. There is no travel cost for the purple portals.

In both places you can find pumkins to carve. I think it takes 50 to get the achievement. The NPC to turn that into is outside Divinity’s Reach.
You can mine candy corn around DR as well. There is an achievement for eating 150 of them.
Achievement for killing things coming out of doors as well.

As mentioned, there is a quest in LA to pick up from the main plaza. The area will be outlined in Orange on your map when you get there.

There are plenty of websites with directions to help with the quest. Just google it, or it might be here in the forums.

Oh, and there will be a big event in Lion’s Arch on Sunday, 10/28, around Noon pacific time.
